So day after tomorrow we are getting only one ep?

That's what I wanted to say too. The hate for lin family is not because they chose to save themselves, it's also not like anyone can blame the lin family for saving themselves but they chose to abandon their long time friend without even trying a little bit to advise them. Them running away quickly was a political move because they knew that both the families can't come out of this situation without being implicated because the emperor was angry and had to take out his anger on someone, that's why they were in so much hurry and didn't even inform or try to discuss things with shen family because if they wanted to save themselves then shen family needs be implicated for them to retreat safely.

It's said that shen and lin family were friends and the friends who are loyal with each other try their best to save or atleast advice their friend against harming themselves. What kind of friends just watch their friend dying so cold bloodedly? And still people are saying that lin family was just respecting shen family's wishes.

And when it comes to xiuwan she expects everyone to come running for her help. I know some people are biased to their kids but never thought that it's at the cost of humanity.

I loved 33rd ep😭. Not just jinqi but I too fell in love with lanxiang all over again in this ep. The pure admiration in his eyes for her was so visible, it was endearing. She is the best character I have seen after a long time now.

I don't hate ML. Actually the novel readers have said that his character in the series is better than in the novel so it's actually an improvement. Also there are many flaws in the thoughts of people from ancient era where severe discrimination used to exist so I actually like him with such a flaw. Only with flaws like this does such characters feel real and not some imaginary characters up to our modern standards. Also male leads of the series 'perfect match' got a lots of hate too but ultimately it's a good series too which explores the struggle of a widowed woman trying to find good partners for her intelligent daughters.

This still happens in many eastern countries and many women are still helpless.

Another day of regretting starting to watch this series before it's completely aired😭. Now I'm so curious to know how everything's solved in the next ep😭.

Maybe it's because I'm very invested in the story and thought what right the lin family had to speak about reputation and so on when they betrayed the people they were close with in the timeline when loyalty mattered.

I even asked google if they were really respecting the shen family's decision and here's what it said-

In the narrative of Lan Xiang Yuan (兰香缘), the Lin family absolutely wronged the Shen family out of intense cowardice and political opportunism; they were not in any way respecting a "righteous choice."Their actions were driven strictly by cold, calculated self-preservation and greed.

There's more in detail breakdown about it but that would be quite a long comment. Anyways things like these depends on our own interpretation and if you want to interpret it like that then that's up to you, I have no problem. I just thought that if we have different interpretations then we should just not argue about it.

Cancelling the engagement in a hurry is called respecting their decision? From my point of view of lin family someone between them had to take a fall for the emperor's anger to quell and the shen family was so righteous that they won't even try to save themselves that's why lin family hurried and packed their bags after handing the broken engagement letter and left before the emperor starts targetting them. If they really cared then they wouldn't have left without even meeting them or discussing anything with each other. The shen family was perfect to take this downfall.

Well I think our opinions are different and not convincing to each other so I won't discuss this further.

It just when lanxiang was drinking in the night after hearing the imperial decree she kept recalling how lin family broke their engagement to save themselves and kept repeating their words mockingly that I for the first time felt like she was filled with a lot of bitterness towards the lin family and couldn't forget how they had left without looking back when shen family was in the crisis. For example if I'm doing something that's harmful for me knowingly my friends would still try to stop me from doing it even though they know I'm doing it by my own choice. That's why I feel like lin family left the shen family heartlessly even without attempting to stop the shen family.

In one of the ep where xie family broke the engagement with the lin family (with xiuwan) the second madam was so angry with xie family and started saying something like 'thank god wan-er won't marry in such a family that cares about reputation. We got to know their true face earlier' and then I felt like why is she feeling so wronged when lin family actually did something worse than xie family. If we go by her logic then the lin family's true face isn't upright too. I thought it was a sort of karma. She knew that jinqi didn't do anything wrong, she supported jinqi, she could understand that the xie family was just trying to do something that benefited their family and didn't want their family to be dragged down but still call the xie family heartless then by that logic lin family is heartless too.

I watched that scene again and jinqi asked his grandfather if they should warn the shen family which I interpreted as the shen family not knowing about it and the day the lin family cancelled the engagement the shen family was surrounded and captured and when shen grandfather wrote on the paper I thought that he just figured out why they must have been surrounded as that must be the only offense the shen family had committed against the then ruling emperor. But still the lin family did leave the shen family when crisis struck them. By logical reasons they were only trying to survive but by morals they did betray the family they used to have close ties with and left them alone to suffer without even trying to make the last attempt of help.

I find this conflict just like in the series prisoner of the beauty where the FL's family chose survival and betrayed ML's family. It might be right decision to make from the position they stand but it's still betrayal.

But in the series it all happened suddenly on the same day. The lin family cancelled the engagement as they got to know from their informant or something like that from the court that someone has opened up the case where lin family and she family along with other families suggested the previous emperor to take back some power from vassal princes and lin jinqi asked his grandfather if they should inform about it to shen family but the lin family clearly was more worried about saving themselves, no matter what shen family would have chose but they didn't even inform shen family about it which clearly feel like a betrayal to save themselves.

Yeah that's true but rather than promising I would say their bond is heartwarming. They all are worried about each other and support each other.

Yeah and I especially hate that grandfather. If he was so worried about his and his family's reputation then why did he not worry about it when the lin family cancelled the engagement with shen family and let them bear the burnt of the emperor's warth? Such family that abandons at the times of crisis are cowardly and untrustworthy.

Until now I only used to feel sorry for lanxiang but now I'm feeling sorry for jinqi too. His family is full of foolish and selfish people. I hope they regret a lot when they get to know lanxiang's identity.

I think lanxiang's appreciation would start from knowing that jinqi recovered the shen family's remains and buried them properly.

The way I screamed when they showed in ep's preview that the imperial decree has arrived! I knew this was gonna happen but still it got me excited😭

I was frustrated too but she used the information at the right time to shut her second sister up. It was really satisfying.

I regret starting to watch this series while it's still airing😭
