As a jj bias, in jj's defence I have seen him act in dmd friendship and his other less important roles in the series after entering dmd and I would say that he acts convincingly, he can act sad scenes though he still needs to improve a lot in comparison to his partner. But it's his first time acting in a major role and I have seen bland acting from leads in some series so I would rather the comedy be over the top than acting without any emotions. (Yes I'm being biased).

I have seen some novel readers saying that the comedy at the start was originally from the novel. I won't say that I disliked the comedy or jj's acting but what felt incompatible was phop's serious concern for klao clashes with nakhun's comedic tone. Plus net is a serious kind of actor who delivers his emotions deeply but his opposite is jj who is good at comedy so it was like their temperaments were trying to overpower each other due to which first ep might seem like a mess. It definitely does gets better later in the series.
Also their next series seems to be deep and intense one so I hope that after all this time their compatibility has improved. That said the pilot trailer does shows that there won't be any funny business in their next series.

By ep 8 I was like serizawa is so cute and suzuki is so cute but by ep 9 I'm like I just want to slap some sense into suzuki.

I think it's pretty clear that they lived a satisfactory life cause their life was dependant on FL and not on ML. Like xiulai became independent, xiuru took the household's control completely in her own hands, xiuwan got married with xie zhao and went to travel with him together while yuchan, xiaolian and gantang lived happily after marriage, of course no one's life is all roses there must have been thrones but with lanxiang with them they must have solved things together. I actually felt like they concluded the series well and showed the story of every character properly till the end.

I think based on this we can say that the drama didn't westernise the history as the servants didn't look like they were homophobic but marrying and continuing family line was a given just like how it's shown in the series.

I realised when the 40th ep released that the shen family's name won't be cleared atleast not in the era when shen jialan was alive cause giving the shen family justice would mean criticizing the founding emperor and not even the ruling emperor has the guts to criticize his elders so I thought that I was very naive, thinking that shen family would be guilt free and then lan xiang's true identity would be revealed and then lin family would regret thinking of her as a servant.

They actually took a realistic path, it wasn't some fantasy (I'm not saying it's not a fictional story) but they really based it on how things were in ancient times. And it was very refreshing to watch such story. It kinda feel bittersweet but satisfying.

In a long time now I finally found a drama which satisfied me completely. The story began with the cruelty of a monarch and ended with the cruelty of the monarch but people can't criticise the emperor even if he is foolish. Those who criticize will die those who flatter will be granted immense favour. It's just a story of survival cause fighting injustice in that era was almost impossible until someone is smart enough to make the situation advantageous for themselves as well as the people they care about. This wasn't about romance but it wasn't entirely devoid of romance. It was just satisfying.

Serizawa is a popular guy so he knows that him approaching suzuki or confessing to him would instead shock suzuki. Even though they kissed suzuki later acted as if it was just because he was experimenting because he wants to write the scene so it's not as clear as day to serizawa that suzuki likes him. Suzuki is an introvert so serizawa is scared that if he confessed and if suzuki doesn't like him then he will distance himself from serizawa afterall suzuki made it clear since the first day that he is a straight guy who likes bl. So for serizawa there are many uncertainties due to which he can't confirm if suzuki likes him. I instead liked the way they portrayed serizawa's and suzuki's feelings. Confessing is not always easy especially if you care about someone to a deeper extent.

Idk why but when serizawa described his crush I could almost tell that suzuki would think of takeuchi instead of himself. A guy with low self-esteem like him would never first guess himself 😭

I hope they clears the misunderstanding in ep 9😭. We should atleast get them being together for the last two eps.

Unpopular opinion but I felt top energy from jj in their intimate scenes. It doesn't mean net wasn't giving a top energy but it felt like jj was in control or wanted to dominate. I just felt it at the start of the scene but then later they just became wholesome😆

I wasn't talking about actual history but the way people used to be in ancient times, that's what I think is realistic like the status of a servant, the struggle of women from that time and many more things. The male lead is not like how we expect a modern man to be cause of course he is someone for ancient setting so that's what I was talking about. Many might not like it but I feel like they tried to express the mindset the people from that time used to have as much realistically as they could.

Hmm....it might not be for you then. I appreciate this drama mainly because it shows how things were in ancient times realistically but many people from our time might dislike it because of modern
values so it's understandable.

I have watched pursuit of jade and liked it mostly because the fl was not your regular frail and intelligent one like countless dramas out there. The cinematography was really good too while the plot had characters like her fiance and other people who kept underestimating her so it wasn't a slow paced story for me. I tried to watch ayto while it was airing but later I thought that I should wait until everything's aired but later I forgot about it. I will give it a try again now.

I will try to do that😂. I think I did watch the first two eps of that series but then I realised that it's pace was slow, slower than this series. I remembered thinking that watching that series might need some patience so I kept it in the back of my mind thinking I will watch it later but I haven't until now😭. Now that I'm not watching anything other than atc I will start with ayto in the meantime.

Ohh...then it seems like that series is interesting too. I will give it a try later.
