I saw that comment too. It's unfortunate, especially because HYX is so pretty. She glows and when she smiles, it's difficult to take your eyes off her. She doesn't have the stunning beauty that some Chinese actresses have, rather has a warm and engaging energy to her. Plus, her acting skills far propels her ahead of any other chinese actress I have seen.

It's really good, such a gem of a drama. It embodies the spirit of 'journey better than the destination'. Every moment is so well written and performed. It's better than a lot of overhyped cdramas which only have famous actors who can't act. I wish this drama would get more recognition, for the acting alone.

True, both HYX and WRC are the quiet and calm type. Miles Wei is very funny and talkative, same with ZYC....hence, her offscreen chemistry with both these actors just solidify their on screen chemistry. Maybe when ARRTI release s more BTS and interview, we'll get to see more. But i really wish to see this onscreen couple again, and i haven't even finished ARRTI yet.

I am one of those people who will be waiting till the end of September 😭. It's sk difficult not to get spoiled about this drama, the clips are everywhere plus people keep spoiling the drama in the comments section. But i am determined not to get spoiled any further. The wait is definitely a killer though.

I really like her off screen, bts chemistry with Miles. They seem extremely comfortable with each other and like they had a lot of fun so i get where people are coming from. But omg her chemistry with WRC is something else.

Agreed, I tried watching his other dramas afterwards, including the much hyped LUTFM with Ju Jing Yi, and i just don't get the chemistry. HYX, on the other hand, has had some good CPs recently...with Miles Wei in UL and Richards Wang in ARRTI. But this couple is really close to my heart and I want to see their amazing chemistry again on screen.

Yes, I love how they've portrayed the jealous moments. It's not caricaturish in any way, it seems real and have been acted really well. I have been rewatching the old episodes while waiting for the new ones and I saw that everytime any guy would touch Xiaoju, Shiyi would have none of it. It is done and shown so subtly that I actually really enjoyed it and kept on replaying those moments 🤣
I can't wait to see it. I have decided I will not watch any episode nor any clips till all episodes are subbed properly, even if i have to wait for a month 😭

The plot twist at the end of Reply 1988 was so disappointing. ARRTI is really curing me of that second male lead syndrome. And in the case of ARRTI, even though they don't get together till the end, each and every moment they have together just cements this impression that there is real love between them (even on the FL's side albeit she doesn't realise it) The fact that she doesn't realise it early and are more enamoured with her 'insta love at first sight' and what she has read in the teenage magazines, actually makes her character more relatable to me. She is naive and flawed but that just shows how we are at that age. I have seen many people criticizing Xiaoju because they sympathise with Shiyi but tbh I like how real Xiaoju's character is. When you feel like you've loved someone, especially for years, it's difficult to move on. Case in point, even Shiyi goes after his first love with all the gusto and passion of youth. So I don't fault her for it.

She has given the best CPs in the chinese dramaland for me. All the cps are convincing and you can really feel her chemistry is topnotch with all her male costars. I thought nothing could top her chemistry with ZYC in the TSP (I was not able to move on from that couple for months!) But my god, her chemistry with WRC is out of this world. I hope they can do a period drama together with a lot of loce scenes. Even thinking about that prospect gives me butterflies.
No kiss scene yet up to ep32. Doubt we are going to get any "real kiss" scene.
True, it's a subtle and more realistic romance, no drawn put slo mo, no overly staring into each other's eyes, even the skinship is not overly dramatised. It is all shown as natural between them, that it's just that comfortable and genuine in their relationship
Wow, really detailed review. And I agree completely even though I haven't finished watching the drama so I am clueless about what happens later. Regarding the whole chasing after the first love, that was a bit difficult for me to swallow as well, but i have seen that theme in many Chinese dramas....it's always portrayed that it's difficult to get over your first love. I hope i don't have the same disappointment as you about the writing towards the end, I am really enjoying the ride right now, even though there's a lot of push and pull and bittersweet scenes.
