Your brain probably subconsciously creates a Snapshot of a person's features. You must be good at recognizing people as well, yeah?

Hmm... Well, obviously they'll be different if you pay attention to detail. However, if you look at them without much scrutinizing every detail, they do look similar. For example, if you are shown a picture of alps and then Himalayan, both would look the same. It's not because there's no difference but because they are both covered with a blanket of snow. So, if you do want to know difference, then you start scrutinizing.

The reason is because they didn't want to make it seem obvious that it has strayed too much away from the source material. Basically, they wanted everyone to be happy. The ones who liked the original ending. The ones who wanted a happy ending and the ones who wanted a mature but open ending

So why did they have to it like this?

Actually, it's giving a narrative to the MLs thoughts through the song. When he first hears her voice, he doesn't think it's real...so he turns back to see her but he can't believe it. He questions himself whether it's a dream or a reality? But then, ML actually doesn't really care whether it's reality or a dream and waits for her to come into his arms. But once she comes into his arms it becomes a reality.

So why does the Lucid dream song play at the end?

First his expression is of surprise, because he wasn't expecting her, then it's relief. This means, she is alive. Although I do think that the writer wanted it to be ambiguous. But the director actually made it quite obvious that she is still alive
