well the show is romance genre tagged, but the romance is very very subtle (mistag?) — in the sense that it’s just good friendship and camaraderie, but honestly their chemistry gives off some couple-coded energy such that you can maybe view it as a budding-romance? (S2 will likely have more romance to it)
so if it has season 2, then we won't be able to see who murdered his mother, and the step-mom and brother official…
not necessarily, they finished filming S1 quite some time ago, and S2 was only decided recently (leads only knew about it when the news article came out as well). So we can probably expect a proper closure for S1.

I think it would actually have a proper closure since the script and filming was already done even before S2 was decided/confirmed, but I guess there will be smth like a teaser or case to lead to S2 in the ending. We shall see.
