I can't stand bullying. I don't know if I should watch thisHow are they going to justify in the end that the girl…
Well, if you aren't aware, even Thailand wasn't very welcoming of this story to be made mainly because of the same reasons. When it was first announced, the country boycotted it so the director did promise to do justice to the bullying issues in this show and so far I think he's doing a great job. If you do watch, look deeper into the purpose of the show not just about a bully falling love with his victim type of show. Its a coming of age type of story.
I have to give F4Thailand credit for making the most sense out of their storytelling. Out of all the other versions, Thailand's storytelling is airtight. It just makes a lot of sense, its such a straightforward show, there is no time to drag the story which I appreciate. In the past I never imagined F4 individually had strong stories, for example, they never focused on MJ's story but in this version, we know who he is and how important he is to F4. He's like the caretaker, bodyguard of F4, literally. If Thyme was the crown prince of their high school, Ren, Kavin and MJ were his royal advisors while Gorya is officially his Queen. The fight at the end in episode 7 solidified this theme. Episode 7 is the turning point of this show. Feelings have been sorted out and now the war to take his rightful place as King is on.

Wow, you are so wrong on where I am from. How can you just assume I am a Chinese supremacist from Singapore/Malaysia? How racist of you. FYI, I am actually from South East Asia too, not Chinese, not white either. Anyways, like I said, I know this is topic in Thai entertainment for many years, not trying to gaslight anyone here, it is something Thai entertainment can work on but which industry doesn't have a similar issue with whitewashing? We have a long way to go but I still believe Thailand is working towards that balance, I haven't lost hope like you. 10 years ago no one knows about Thai celebs, now they are well known worldwide. Just like how F4Thailand have changed their story's narrative to fit today's society, Thailand is able to popularize anyone from their country no matter the color of their skin. I have seen changes over the years, some channels showcase more Euroasians, some channels don't. Many Indie Thai films feature only Thai cast, the only prestigious film award for Thailand was Cannes Palme D'Or, won by a full Thai cast and director. Just because we don't see full Thais in mainstream media does not mean they are not achieving anything either. In other fields like Thai hip hop music and country music, they are dominated not by Euroasians. It is a working process here like the rest of the world.

Who are full Thais though? Thailand have many foreigners and they have the largest population of Chinese immigrants in their country outside of China. Most Thais are mixed. I know this discussion about Eurasians in Thai dramas, I've seen it since the 90s when I first followed Thai dramas, but what I also see is a balanced amount of popular celebrities who look full Thai and Euroasian Thais. They all share the same amount of fame, no one is more famous then the other no matter their background. How are you watching any Asian shows? Many Asian countries prefer pale skin make up...
Again, I don't believe Tu's skin tone changed, this is all suspected by you. This is a Thai version of F4 because the people starring in it are Thais from Thailand.

Oh, I'm sure it will be big news in Thailand if this was true. Its 2022, people will say something. Thai netizens are as loud as any other country in this matter. Even when F4Thai was announced, Thailand boycott the idea for this story was too old fashion, if they were to darken Tu's skin, it would be headlines. I don't believe this because Tu hasn't said anything and there isn't reliable sources to back your claim. Basically your basing this off IG photos.

So...you were assuming by looking at her IG photos? An app where people can alter how they look with filters? This isn't actual news from reliable resources?

That's for another discussion. I was simply talking about how Thai celebs act off screen. The comment from the original poster doesn't sound like they are glorifying anything either...Anyway, where did you hear they darkened Tu's skin tone? That's new. Never heard or seen this news.
One thing I like about Thailand actors & actresses interactions between their co-stars compared to Korean/Chinese…
I've been watching Thai dramas since the 90s and toxic fans are only appearing recently with Thai dramas becoming more popular. Thai celebs are very open to fans and they tend to always joke with their costars. I love this about Thai celebs, it makes the behind the scenes fun to watch. The comfortable chemistry shine through onscreen when you watch the leads. Most of my ships are Thai couples compared to other Asian leading couples. If you get the time to watch the leads off-screen you will realize how much they tease each other from mean jokes to playful fighting, something you don't see with Korean or Chinese costars. Thai fan bases are also super chill, allowing their celebs to live their lives and respect them greatly with whoever they end up with.
LOL, I don't think Japan or the author would like that idea since its their story.
I only meant I don't think the author would like the story to be changed in that direction since it was originally written how it is. Only referencing which country the story came from, not trying to say Japan is against BL dramas.
I enjoy this half and half… I like ep 1-2, but ep 3 is a huge letdown for me, and ep 4 was okay? I don’t know…
LOL you haven't seen the other HYD adaptations from Korea and China?... if you survived those adaptations then you should be familiar with cheesy. I think its also important to consider that Thailand did not want this story to be made when this was announced because Thailand did not like the bullying concept of this story and considered this story to be old fashioned. Therefore, the director wanted to focus on some social issues in this version, if it ended up sounding "preachy" I think its intended because there is a message to be realized. Mira leaving for France to study law is the least cheesy and unrealistic reason because she was inspired by Gorya to be a better person. If this means leaving your family's fortune to survive on your own, how is it cheesy? LOL Gorya never wanted to change anyone, did you see how long she took to stand up to Thyme when Hana was bullied by him? She just wanted to be a high school student.
