The ending in the novel was great. Why didn't they stick to that? HY should be in jail and that evil consort should not have been forgiven so easily.

There's been a lot of talk about how this xianxia isn't groundbreaking but honestly I kind of think it is. I really can't think of any other xianxia where the ML isn't toxic, does not hurt the female lead to "protect her" for a prolonged period of time, is honest with the female lead, and doesn't allow toxic family members to hurt the female lead. That's not common. Majority of ML's in xianxia dramas treat their FL's as if they are small babies and end up hurting them. We also don't see a lot of tv shows in general where there is a positive sister bond. It always starts positive and then they end up backstabbing each other over very stupid things. Those two things: the personality of the ML and the sisterly bond to me are groundbreaking in a way because it's honestly very hard to come by.

Wish he could be a ML or even a 2ML
