Maybe this is me coping bc of how much i love Seungyeon but i don't think the queen dowager is all bad. She's clearly been shaped and pressured from birth to be queen. Hence why she basically defines herself purely based on that. Obviously it doesn't excuse how she's treated her son, but I'm glad we saw a bit of a softer touch from her in ep 4.
I agree with everyone saying Jin-Mu is behind most things lol

I think the issue is that the current king may have been conceived before marriage. Idk what the rules of that would be exactly but it MIGHT mean that he would not be considered legitimate? And thus the throne would pass to Ian

Both IU and the director mentioned that the drama gets even better after episode 4 so I'm excited to watch the rest!!

Getting more and more interested in how the drama would end. I don't think the boy king would be happy keeping the throne but I also can't see Ian enjoying being king. Much less Hui Ju being queen..
Would be pretty ironic if at the end they just abolish the whole monarchy after all lol

Seungyeon has improved a lot as an actress through her work. Isn't that an ideal career path? She didn't start receiving praise until just a few years ago when she won a Blue Dragon for Aloners. And now she's deservedly getting her flowers for this role

Yes! I think the queen dowager's father is gonna be the real villain of the drama.
Obviously Yirang is a deeply flawed character, but the pride and arrogance likely stems from being fed stuff about how important her family is her entire life. How she's destined to be queen, etc. etc.

99% sure the queen's father (aka Jin-Mu) is who actually killed the king. The weird cut between her burning the paper and the palace being on fire is a misdirect imo. We will be shown what really happened later on

That "lord" is her father. And the reason for her desperation we have already been told. Her family has produced 4 queens. It has been her destiny probably most of her life. She's obviously very arrogant/prideful but i think its pretty obvious there will be more to her character. Her singular motivation is to keep her son safe.
And I doubt the fire she started is what killed the king. I'm sure there'll be a plot twist later on where it was actually her father. His motivation being that her son (who is also his grandson) take and keep the throne

Not really, she is antagonistic towards the ML but I think she's just very worried about her son. I think her father is the real villain here

Ji-Mu is the kings grandfather lol. If this was a saeguk he would not conspire against him to put someone not related to him on the throne. He would do whatever it took to get rid of the crown prince if anything

I kinda doubt it. I think their main priorities (one leading the country and the other raising the next king) will be forefront in their mind. With the added detail of the PM having feelings for FL I don't really see them going that way.
