A lot of people loved the first half of the drama, but don’t like the last 3rd of it nearly as much
I agree. I almost stopped at episode 19 because of negative comments. but decided to push through, and it's been enjoyable..at least not as bad as the critics are saying. so I agree. watching this without coloured lenses might give you a different perspective. and it was myopic of me to say TPoB was basically supreme. am sure may dramas would surpass it, but it is also a Testament to how good it was.

I am holding on with clenched fists 👊 ✊️ 🤛 🤜 👊 I am doubting anything will dethrone TPoB.

The leads are cute together but honestly the story is mid. Went in expecting so much more given all the love its…
definitely watched the last 2 episodes on 2x, infact I skipped some scenes. I finished 80mins worth of screen time in 25mins. for me the drama ended in episode 26

this is a pure work/romance drama nothing new. but the character that kept me hooked was 2ml Pei Zhen. what a nuanced character, one minute you want to hug him and the next you want to punch him in the face. he is morally gray but seems to have a personal limit to his "badness". don't get me wrong, the ml was great, but his character was just the normal ML character in dramas, nothing new, FL's character was awesome, I am glad they wrote some sense and maturity into her character. the drama not towing the hidden identity route in the beginning was an awesome choice because that has been long overused. the secondary characters were all awesome. I look forward to seeing more of Dai Xu's drama, he really caught my eye in this drama. a solid 8.5

it's ridiculous honestly. I can't stand it. it repulsive.

From which episode am I supposed to hate Situ Ling exactly? I'm at episode 27 and the only thing I've felt so…
he's that kind of guy that you want to hate. but can't actually hate. infact he is more pitiful than hateful. whoever wrote this drama had too much sugar in their system when they wrote it. and I'm here for it

it's worth it. I enjoyed it oo. I think I know why we are all crazy about this drama. if you have watched xianxia dramas long enough, you will know that this level of happy ending is very unrealistic for the genre. we have all been emotionally abused by xianxia that we just are in desperate need for some sugar, and this drama served it up real good. even the angst was not that angsty that will send you reaching for your antidepressants like we are used to seeing, I mean guys, they wouldn't even let the car die...shoot. I mean ,I am not complaining at all, I loved it, and it is long overdue, my heart can't take another xianxia trauma. this was just perfect

The female lead showcased her talent as a chef by serving everyone with dedication. After traveling back in time,…
well said. imagine reducing all that effort to the statement 'just to serve a man", completely ignoring the setting of the drama as a historical drama, the nature of the cultural and political climate then (as if she had another choice without loosing her head), and then she is duty bound( I mean she is the royal chief cook), people that want to find fault in the drama will do that.
