REVIEW: What struck me most was the communication between Zhao and Yan Yun! They were allies, partners and they ended up conquering together. I cried non-stop from the time Yan Yun found Ye Xian propped up by that spear to the end. The emotions ran high from both Yan Yun and Zhao over his death. Ci Sha and Ren Min outdid themselves. So did Winwin as Ye Xian. I loved the plotline and the incredible acting by all. I liked the OST that played during the most dramatic scenes, it added to the whole feel of what was happening. Although Ci Sha is not the best looking ML in Dramaland, his presence/aura just overrides any negativity in looks. The chemistry is really really good but I think he needs to learn how to kiss a little bit better. But all in all, they acted so well opposite each other. Ci Sha needs more roles and more great FLs in the future. Ren Min, well what can you say. She's already there. As for the ending? It ended just fine with the two of them walking away with the decree being narrated over the scene. Which explained enough to make it perfect imho. Not every ending needs to be wrapped up in a tidy little bow. Sometimes, a messy ending works too. Top notch drama. Overall rating: 9.0
Special Mention: Zuo Ye as Xuan Qing. This guy may have been Support but his role was pretty intense. He played the obsessed crazy off-the-rails ex-suitor to perfection.
June 2026. Had to come back to say that this is one drama that I've never forgotten. It affected me so emotionally back then, that I tell others to watch it. I'm still shocked about the rating. Maybe it was the ending that screwed them on a higher score. The ending was BS to me. They wiped the FL totally out of the final episodes and reintroduced someone that most of us would rather not have had reappear. But despite the ending, it still remained with me as one of the most haunting and emotional dramas in 2024. Actually right now in 2026, I can't even compare this to anything current. Keep supporting the characters in their other dramas.
Yes! Someone else who feels that Wallace Chung's face is a bit off and his hair OMG somebody give that boy a decent…
lol I love your review. I also endured it, skipped A LOT! The only drama I love with Wallace Chung is "Because Love", which made me a fan. It is really super good and shows that he can be a good actor when he tries.

I think his fans don't want to criticize their idol. But I'm sure others must have commented on what seems to be an old puffy looking character at times. But, I just saw a recent clip of him dancing this dance sequence that others with him were trying to do and he just got right to it and danced so lively and ummm sexy! lol
Dropped at episode 7 because I hate the ML so much. After helping the ex-husband cheat to protect his precious…
I agree about Wallace Chung. I don't know what happened to him in this drama but he is NOT the Wallace Chung that I admire in other dramas. I hope he does sthg with his hair and his doughy look in his next drama. just sayin....
Let's be honest- whether or not he covered up the panty-incident, is really irrelevant. Looking at the ensuing…
Me too. But I'm sorry, I will not be watching any Zhu Zhu dramas in the future I'm afraid bc she grated on my nerves. Also, like you said, no chemistry. AND who in the real world goes through all that trauma and remain unscathed only to get promoted over and over again. Very unrealistic and so so annoying.
I don't know why this FL annoyed the heck outta me and I was actually hoping that he would dump her in the end. In what world does there exist such a perfect specimen of a human being where all of this happens to and she not only escapes unscathed but gets promoted every time she blinks an eyelash? Her rambling in an irritating monotone with barely any nuance or inflection is horrible. Note to self: Remember this actresses name and don't watch anymore dramas with her in it.
I HATE when someone is trying to explain the misunderstanding and they are shut down by the other person. I mean the FL should be slapped. If she doesn't want communication go date a rock! And ML? Are you some kind of simp? You had time and time again to express how you feel and yet you let her walk away over and over. Also, having seen great chemistry in recent dramas, this is a yawn fest. No chemistry, it's sad and pathetic. About the FL's dialogue. OMG she talks on and on and on without any real inflection or emotion in her voice. it's like a constant never-ending drone of monotone AND monotonous narrative. I'm on EP 31 and I will be glad when this is over. As for Wallace Chung, I see no redeeming quality in his acting in this show. I've seen him in other dramas where he is fantastic! He's been with FLs where there is actually wonderful chemistry. Case in point: "Because of Love" Not only was the chemistry crazy good, but his performance was off the charts.
When he was being overcome with smoke and he saw her running toward him, I had tears streaming down my face. Then her seeing him as a spirit several times. That clenched my heart each time. I loved his character, both young and older. He may not have been physically a good match in actors, but I still got attached to him. He was my favorite. Solid drama to me. 8/10
Just finished the drama and it's as though there wasn't even a pregnancy much less a baby. I was hoping that while they were flashing everybody's ending that we would also find out about the baby. smh I am glad to know that husband went to prison. I sure got emotional over He Yu Qiong. The final flashbacks oh and his death and the seeing him as a spirit. Yeah this was a worthy drama for me. I thought there were plenty of suspense moments. I thought for sure 'grandma" threw Bai Shu's daughter over the wall. I was almost in tears. We also never got to see what happened to her. Why would they leave things like that out? Anyway, this was an 8 for me.
