It's been about 8 months, but I still haven't been able to finish the last 12 episodes.
Just skip like crazy in the last 10 episodes. It's so draggy there's only few minutes you need from each episode. Then you will reach end. It's a bit underwhelming ending.
On Episode 12... what I find so scary is how the Chinese law system works. The police can detain you for any reason…
Skipped many parts to the end and amazing acting and camera work but the ending is a big pile of garbage.
What the hell was the point of that young lady going to the police after all? She became a cripple and got 1 yuan. And suffered humiliation after humiliation. Ruined lives of her parents. Got the lawyer to lose her license. Costed tax payer money. Absolutely stupid ending. Got the police women demoted or transferred.
Imagine if this young woman was in charge of nuclear codes. World would be gone in 1 hour.
On Episode 12... what I find so scary is how the Chinese law system works. The police can detain you for any reason and can easily take sides just because of their own subjective reasoning. Even when evidence points to no crime, the police can still keep you locked up.
I dont even like this CEO bastard. But I am so scared by the captain even more. If you compare power, the police captain has the most power of all characters. And she abuses it every chance she gets based on her own subjective intuitions. What she does to the suspect is worse than what the suspect might have done to the victim in the abuse of power and pain and suffering.
It seems the justice system shown in show is the police can abuse you anyway they like and afterwards, you have to bow and thank them with a bag of oranges and red envelope.
And why the hell are the police interrogating and interviewing everyone while wearing masks on both sides!? That must be the dumbest police force in the world. How can you interview and talk to people behind masks?
Wow!!! Started it last night and it is REALLY good! I wasn't expecting much because of 8.3 rating. It is so much better than I expected. Reminds me of Fight to Heavens.
The fight scenes are better than 98% of fantasy shows. It's so well done. Love the dialogues and writing is so good so far! No stupid fillers so far. No lame silly romances so far! No stupidity so far.
I think the only bad thing is the sound effects and music. It's more on the sillier side. It's missing the grandness and epic of stuff from Tencent. Seems many shows from Youku are like that.
I just hope it doesnt become silly and too many jokes. The first 3/4 of Sword Snow Stride is the perfect mix of dialogue and story. That was perfection. This show has much much better fighting. And most important, the editor of this show does not have his finger on slow motion 90% of the time.
I hope it continues to be this good. I rate this at least 9 and above so far.
Appreciate your in-depth review, i can only agree and I feel HL gets better & better after half of the episodes…
Okay I finished it. Absolutely perfect ending. Perfection in writing, acting, and dialogues. The show landed it with a perfect 10.
Best memorable scenes for me are
1. Beginning when she does dance to welcome her brother back home around dinner table 2. Airport scene when she goes to Yihe 3. The crooked sunglasses she gave her brother...
Okay... basically any scene with ZL in it.
Acting wise, the FL and ML are at their peak and equal force.
But for pure charisma and just loving every expression, it's gotta be her.
This is as good as it gets for a show. Not just a C drama but this is peak peak talent and writing in the world for this type of genre. It's up there with Go Ahead and A River Runs Through It for me.
I am on episode 17. The birthday dinner episode. Wow... that's what I call a perfect ideal way to declare something. Absolute perfection. The script, the actors, the dialogue.
When she brought him to restaurant and said surprise, I thought it would be so lame... not yet again all other girls. But this show surprised me with what happened next.
That's such a perfect gift of a birthday. No stupid high end restaurant reservation. No gathering of friends. No high end gifts. No stupid surprises for surprises sake. No asking of wait staff to take photos of them. No food selfies. No silliness. No games. Women like this character are as rare as a shooting star.
Just started today and it is perfect role for the female lead. She is probably the best female actress for me. But she needs someone strong opposite her along with the perfect story. And this one is it along with Love like the Galaxy.
She reminds me of Stephen Chow in terms of comedy timing and also ability to deliver emotions.
Her presence on the screen just makes everyone absolutely fall in love with her. She reminds me of Lisa in Black Pink in terms of charisma power. Just absolute beauty and talent.
Her acting as high school and college is completely believable. Not many can pull that off.
I am glad it's not too many episodes becoming draggy. Would ruin everything if that happens.
In real world, most of us guys is the guy who is the track runner who chases her and tries and tries but never gets anywhere We all wish our confessions turn out to be so sweet like show with cake and candles. . But alas... More like cake that gives food poisoning.
Please don't be another Sword Snow Stride with perfect beginning and crash and burn after middle.
I agree with you on many points, but not so much about episodes being filler. It's been really interesting to…
I spoke too soon. Just saw episode 38 as they are escaping from palace and fighting archers and assassins. OMG... What a disappointment. Its so stupid. Just complete garbage of a scene.
Finally finished s1. I shouldn’t have started this drama. Now all there’s left for me is sadness and emptiness.…
Just reading your post makes me realize I should just stop at episode 36 and wait for Season 2. It feels like it will be a sad ending for Season 1. And worst fear is it ends on cliff hanger.
So I will see if I can stop at episode 36 and let it end there.
The scene in Kitchen series where she screams in the hallway announcing things.
When she welcomes her brother home by singing in Hidden Love
Love those scenes.
Too many twists and turns. ZL is one of my favorites. But alas the story didn't stick landing for me in this one.
I skipped like crazy last 10 episodes because none of it seem to matter that much except for few minutes here and there.
It was okay.... 8 out of 10.

What the hell was the lesson of show?
Unbelievable....

I finished 39.. well halfway finished. It got do boring I couldn't make it to the end.
I started watching Hidden Love. Wow... Episodes 1 is amazingly good. Female lead is absolute perfection in this show.
Does that mean female lead will never again meet the people she managed at herbal shop in that village at beginning?
Because those people would have aged and died since they are regular normal humans without powers right?
Spoiler question. Does that mean female lead will not end up together with Mu at the end?
So I will see if I can stop at episode 36 and let it end there.
