Yes Jing hurt her the most because she loved him the most. You can't be hurt by someone you don't love that way which is why she never took what XL did to her to heart.

And you can't compare heartbreak to actual abuse. Heartbreak is not mental abuse. If that is the case then everyone has been abused. It means xiao yao has mentally abused both XL and Xuan because they are heart broken she had eyes for Jing. Especially Xuan. That is a very ridiculous thing to compare to. Matters of the heart are a separate matter. She loved Jing so much that she started to hope. Even if it was XL who caused her heartbreak I wouldn't call it abuse.

Also Jing never intentionally hurt xy. It was just the world against them and both of them received heartbreak because of the grandmother's scheming. Jing more so than xy because he was stuck with someone he didn't love for life and that person didn't love him too. XY atleast had luxury to choose anyone she wanted after. I'm assuming xy also knew it wasn't Jing's fault and that is why she forgave him

Also actors are actors. Sometimes actors don't understand their characters and that's okay. They're not God and their perspectives are not law. So if Yang Zi said that then it means she never understood xiao yao.

I also don't want to change anyone's stance but I will keep talking about facts as I read them in the novel and rewatch the show. Since this is my brain rot and I'm idle i will give it time. It will depend on which couple you end up shipping. And even opif you end up shipping non endgame ship, it is still happy ending for all characters as all get what they want.

If tong Hua wanted xiao yao to have two loves equally then she did not do a satisfying job for XL's side of the love story.

At first I kept watching waiting for when xy would drop Jing and then start the "romance with XL or atleast show she cared about him that way even if subtle. In fact I thought XL was the main ml & she would definitely choose him.
I thought it was one of those stories where spfl first falls for one guy but then loves another by the end. With Jing repeating the 15 year promise I thought that was for sure going to happen but I was pleasantly surprised.

I actually started this show because tan jianci is in the cast so you cannot say I came to watch biased. I would have shipped her with XL because of him if I was.

So in my critical and logical anylising of this drama, I do not feel the romantic vibes from xiao yao to XL. And as I'm reading the book, it's even worse because I feel the drama writers or director was a Xiaoliu shipper or it's just Yang Zi & Tan jianci chemistry but I can atleast feel the spark because of the actors. In the novel though it's just straight up buddy feelings from xy so far. I had hopes when Jing broke her heart because I thought Jing was maybe holding her back from fully exploring her feelings towards XL but things remained as usual & XL saw through her wanting to use him as band aid for broken heart.

XY didn't even know who her real father was so I don't think she never wanted to repeat her mother's mistake because she never knew it. She was just lucky she never fell for XL in that sense. If she did fall for him that love definitely wasn't that great if she couldn't risk it all for him.

Besides she could just change faces and disappear & roam the world with XL and no one would know she was a princess. Xuan had gotten what he wanted to become king and that the person she cared most for and saw as her family.

Yes xy loved xl and Jing but in different ways. One romantic and another like soulmate or someone who they understand eachother. I feel like that's what tong Hua meant.

XY chose the one she wanted. XL cannot choose for her when she already chose.
Actually her heart chose for her. It just happens he was perfect too.
Xiang Liu cannot make xiao yao have romantic feelings for Jing. XL cannot make her care about Jing the way she does.

The xiang Liu chose the right man for her narrative is just for Xiaoliu shippers to cope & it's time it's put to rest

XL knew xy feelings towards Jing so he never fully made a move because he doesn't want to be second choice and also he knew he couldn't give her what she wanted anyway.

Why risk to receive her rejection or become rebound for her when he knew it wasn't going anywhere?

Xiang Liu is more smart than you give him credit for. He just chose to love her from afar knowing she never reciprocates and didn't care which is what is heartbreaking for his character but also deserved because he brought it upon himself with how he treated her. He gave her danger vibes & she ran for the hills so no one to blame but himself.

If you say if he confessed his love you say it as if you are sure she would accept him. While I don't think she would accept him because she loved Jing in a romantic sense.
Just because XL loved her doesn't mean she she loved him the same way. That's what XL fans & XL shippers tend to ignore. You trivialise her feelings for Jing and think she chose him as safe option as if good & gentle guys can't be loved for real if their rival is a toxic love interest.
You should say XY is lucky she escaped her mother's fate because she fell for the right guy unlike her mother.
XY definitely loved Jing and he wasnt second choice in anyway. She would even risk XL rage by using him to make Jing jealous lol while she was never jealous of XL as FFB & he was a 'play boy'

There's a difference between love and attraction. XY knew XL was interested in her romantically but she never quite believed he really loved her as she is or the extent.
XY only accepted to kiss XL to get air after Jing broke her heart because she was free from the oath she made with Jing. She didn't care anymore how it would look. She ener did it because she wanted to kiss XL.

I've not reached the part you are talking about in the novel but if she hesitated to answer on spending her life with someone I think it is because it's self explanatory. Why would you want to marry someone you do not want to spend your life with? The answer already is Jing. It didn't need her to answer. But I will also analyse that part when I reach it.

XL true loved XY but XY loved him in a different way which was not romantic couple love but like friends love. She was never attracted to him the way she was to Jing. She always referred to his good looks as a matter of fact. Like she knew everyone could acknowledge XL looked insanely handsome. She never reacted much when he sucked her neck but went crazy when Jing kissed her.

XY definitely knew XL feelings but she just didn't feel that way about him although she cared for him alot. I think many YaoLiu shippers project onto xiao yao what she should have been feeling for XL in their place not what XY actually felt.
It was just one sided romantic love but XY liked him as a playmate.

Even when XL decided to make everything he did for her a deal, she knew he was doing that purposefully and chose to play along

As I'm reading the book I remembered there's people who say xiao yao only accepted Jing because he confessed first and that she never ever realised xiang Liu feelings.

My opinion is that people who say that don't value xiao yao intelligence and think she is an idiot. In fact xiao yao is a very smart woman in that she knew all the guys' romantic interest in her beforehand. Xiang Liu didn't need to confess for her to know it.

XY even when she was a man, kept shunning Jing because she learned of his fiance. Why would she do that if she was not already having an idea of his interest in her? She knew (,but good for Jing, she had reciprocated the same interest unconsciously which is a topic of its own)

XY knew xiang Liu was interested in her romantically early on after she became princess. The day she was publically announced and he cornered her in the lake & tried to kiss her and she refused. That day she told him he was not the kind of guy to be in a girl's dream. She knew from then on of his kind of interest in her but sadly for XL xiao yao knows how to guard her heart if she sets it upon herself.
Even if let's say she never knew then, XL relentless flirting as Fang Feng Bei would have given her a clue.

Point is xiao yao is a very smart woman and she knew all the guys' interests and attentions and her heart chose who she chose. Exception being xuan who I think she purposefully tried to not even think about him being interested in her romantically. (Im still in S 1 part of the book so I wil see if there are new developments with that one). She just loved them in different ways.

I can't help but wonder, what if Xiao Yao never left mountain jade and she remained princess. And what if Tushan Jing never got tortured by his brother.
What if Xiao yao and Jing met on one of those ceremonies would they have fallen for each other like they did?
I have a feeling xiao yao would have been wowed by the perfect Jing accomplishments but stayed wary due to xuan. Jing would have fallen for her first sight & then wooed her & in the process got to know his kindness & gentle heart which would make her fall for him.

If you love someone you can't control the jealous that comes over you. They don't need to first promise you love or anything for you to be jealous. We even get jealous over a crush which hasn't even been disclosed.

I don't think it's even a spoiler that Jing is not even the father of that baby & even if he was he was literally drugged to sleep with her which is technically rape.
