I don't know much of this part of history from China' side so I can't say if it's accurate or not, but it was really well crafted
This show wanted to showcase the courage and unity of the Chinese people during these troubled times and it was remarkably well done.
Despite the numerous arguments between different factions and no matter their backgrounds, everyone had a chance to contribute to safety of the nation.
I really liked the contrast between He Xian, and the main antagonist Colonel Sawa.
At first we can really feel Sawa's schemes are made in the interest of his country but the further we go the less he seems concerned by this goal. He was consumed by his arrogance and his obsession to win against He Xian without any regards for the reality. At the end of the show the Japanese couldn't afford to take control of Macao like he wanted at first but he still went overboard.
He was smart and read He Xian's every moves but always failed to catch up with him. The drama seems to want us to think it's because He Xian is pursuing righteousness hence the reason why he will always win no matter how hard the obstacles are. I like this moral, honestly it comes as little naive and maybe not grounded in reality (good people don't always win) but I want to think it's true.
There weren't many female characters but I think they served their purpose and were shown as having equal courage and patriotic fibre than their male peer. I specially love the scene where Qiwen made them realise women aren't to be treated as porcelain.
In conclusion, the acting was good, the scenario was well written with good tension and rhythm so this drama really worth to watch.
