I made the mistake of starting this in bed at night and had to stay up so late to compulsively finish. 😂 The acting of the ML & FL was so great for a full length drama, not to mention a mini. Great comedic timing, expressions, physical comedy and chemistry. Story had a little unnecessary drag in one arch and a totally unnecessary family arch, but still a great watch. ML is deserving of much higher profile roles.

This drama is so unexpectedly good for me. I don’t read webtoon, and the name didn’t resonate with me so I started it on a whim to fall asleep and ended up staying awake! 🤣❤️

I watched this on Tencent and didn’t think it would be good, but it was! The format totally worked, the actors are great and the writing was too. It’s not explicit despite the title, just sweet and heartwarming. Hope to see these actors do more.

He absolutely deserves more roles: excellence in Moonlight Mystique.

I started it tonight on Viki and stayed up watching all available episodes. It is so good! I love the Tang dynasty styling: I am not as familiar with those styles so it’s extra unique. Yang Zi looks absolutely gorgeous. Really looking forward to this one!

Ah my people! I just watched episodes 4 & 5 last night, and am liking it more deeper into the drama. I do wish the episodes were a little longer. They could handle even more space to breathe. I feel like the jdrama characters are both more mature than their kdrama counterparts, which is a nice alternative rendering. Ren's microexpressions and eyes seem to make it clear to me that he cares about Miu from the beginning but is either not accustomed to committed relationships, doesn't actually want one (I don't think that's the case) or things are complicated for him and he doesn't know how to get there. Miu also doesn't seem quite as fractured from her previous relationship and feels quite capable of giving and receiving in a healthy loving relationship. Neither of them feel as toxic as the korean portrayal, but even in that story, I like to remember that people are capable of change, healing and personal transformation and sometime you meet someone at their lowest and they evolve.

This comment now has me wanting a cdrama rendition of this story!

He is fantastic in The Rise of Ning: so much gravitas. He deserves a leading role with a complex grey character.
