This drama would be much well received if it wasn’t originally sold as a revenge drama. Everything is good but the revenge part, it is a turn off for me.
Xu Kai is one of the best Chinese actor when it comes to performing action scenes with the true expressions and stunts.
I think this is average, it won't heat 10k if it goes like this, I had hope that this drama of XK will be hit…
nope, it doesn't work like that, heat indexes are just a metrics combining various things like, traffic, discussion, and more, doesn't directly related to how many views they gets, even the views are estimated value depending upon buzz the show is receiving and lot more other factors as well, are not accurate, but yeah, simply you can say, higher heat index, more views
I've watched all 12 episodes, and honestly, this is a poorly written revenge show, the plot is in shambles, atleast for now, but mind you, 40 percent of show is already completed, no one will bear this much. The only thing which is keeping me to continue with this show is Xu Kai and the leads chemistry, better I would love to watch two of them in purely historical romance.
Currently on 3rd episode. A couple of things about this show are top notch, cinematography, opening credits, and soundtrack. im not that interested in the story so far, though. They could’ve made the Shen family massacre more emotional. I cant connect with it at all. If i could’ve seen the pain and everything they were going through, I think i would’ve connected with the revenge trope more. They might show that later, but that’s pretty rare.
Anyway, it's interesting to see Xu Kai’s character so far, he’s awesome. But I really need the story to get more interesting.
The writing is weak. I felt that the story tries to create engagement by constantly showcasing the injustice and suffering the victims/false accused go through throughout the show. Everything felt forced rather than natural. Kang Tae-ju is a weak character internally, and I noticed that he is quite capricious. Sometimes he thinks things through carefully before making a decision, while at other times he acts on a whim. This inconsistency is one of the things I disliked about the show. The prelude was undoubtedly brilliant, but little by little, the show went to shambles because of its weak writing.
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, I have never been a fan of endings where the bad guys escape accountability for their actions. It feels as though I spent the entire show watching my blood boil for nothing. No matter how well-written or well-executed a story may be, that kind of ending rarely works for me. It leaves a lingering sense of frustration and a bitter aftertaste.
It was good. Terrific acting by main leads. Their chemistry was well matched. Ahn Eun Jin was a surprise for me, really liked her character, such a strong acting by her. She is good, too good.
P.S: Bae Suzy is such a beauty. Her bare face, without any makeup, is something you just can't stop staring at.
