I think he gets away with it because he hasn’t crossed a line he can’t come back from yet to her, in the sense that even when he grabs her like that, the things he’s saying oppose his actions and make her confused. So she leaves upset and angry but doesn’t leave the kind of terrified fear such an action would create. There’s also a bit of familiarity between them from the fake dating time too. Even when he grabs her, he tends to be gentle, so I think real fear didn’t grow. When he locked her in that room with him though, and definitely he really did scare her then, so she cried and he let her go.
These things are confusing for her because she knows she should be scared of him but also thinks he probably wouldn’t actually hurt her. That could be a perspective to consider.
I’m trying to say that if they were real people she might still react like this. It doesn’t change that that behaviour is manipulative though and I do in fact think that she should be more worried for her safety lmao

You know, most people don’t do that. But I know a couple of people that just don’t know how to shut up to protect themselves. Especially when I was the age she is in the show, they would go towards the problem instead of away from it. Some of them still do that. That’s because Changxuan is a person with power and can make it impossible for her to be faithful even if she wants to. He can literally lock her up somewhere and no one would know. But if she’s married, he has to consider the consequences of kidnapping someone else’s wife, which would be bigger than kidnapping a girlfriend/fiance, in their culture at least.
