They have already found out that Ao Xuan's father was responsible. And his "story arc" is tied to Ying Yuan's. So, it just proves that he is just there to further the main leads storyline.

Oh, and I've just remembered that Tang Zhou has yet to fight with that Basilisk (I don't know how that giant snake is called here lol) alongside Yumo. So, there's a lot to happen yet and not enough time.

I don't know for sure. But after watching the preview for episode 37, I had the impression that the mortal realm arc will not end in part 1, or else it will be rushed af.
