What he (Tang Zhou) said: "If I don't tag along, the spirit I captured will run away. That'll be a loss for me." What he meant: "I won't let my lotus fairy be snatched by a fish. "
That is why Ying Yuan had to lose his memories, so he could learn to fight for love. If he had kept his memories, he would have probably stayed away from her.
And it seems Yan Dan is already falling for Tang Zhou, she just doesn't understand her confusing feelings yet. Tang Zhou in turn already knows he is in love with her, but keeps denying it.
I like Tang Zhou and Yumo forced friendship. Their banter and fights are hilarious and ridiculous at the same time. By the way, Yumo didn't annoy me as much as I thought he would in these past few episodes. I just found him a bore in episode 31. The man knows his feelings are one-sided but he's certain Yan Dan will stay by his side forever. I rolled my eyes so hard at that. Also, a war is looming and the man is like, "I don't care if these people die. I just want to live a carefree life in the mountains with my unrequited love." Boy is fooling himself there.
On another note, they better not kill my baby Zhao Lan!!!
I don't mind Yumo tagging along and being a major cockblocker, but that obnoxious lamp must be snuffed out asap.πͺThat evil creature makes my eye twitch so bad. ππ€¬
As someone who is not much into wuxias / xianxian dramas, but loved ice fantasy (mostly because of yand da and…
I would definitely recommend this drama to you. But if you want to binge-watch, try Love and Redemption or/and Ashes of Love. I'm biased towards Love and Redemption, but both dramas are pretty epic and full of angst.
Iβm loving the drama but only because of the leads. Some things that really bother me:- Director is freaking…
I'm sorry but Ashes of Love isn't a fast paced drama at all. They wasted quite a bit of episodes focusing on side characters backstories that added nothing to the plot. Also, Yumo got more screen time than Ying Yuan in just two episodes, and for good reasons.
And you can't compare Yumo with Runyu, because Yumo is not a strong character (yet). So far, he seems to be there just to further Yan Dan's story arc.
I really enjoyed the new episodes. Yan Dan is so so funny. She can be very brave and a scaredy cat at the same time. And despite turning into Tang Zhou's genie, she seems to be really enjoying herself. She's doing what she wanted to do all along after all - travelling the world and going on adventures so she can become a better writer.
Tang Zhou in turn is still very much Ying Yuan, just a bit more carefree since he is human now and young. He's finally free from all those rigid set of rules that are deeply ingrained in him at least for a while. Also, there's no one around to tell him that his mere existence is a sin, which is one of the many things that weighs him down. And I love the fact that he still indulges his noisy lotus fairy.
Yumo, dear, you've "forced" the girl to stay by your side for over a decade now and she still hasn't developed any romantic feelings for you. It's time to move on. Just let go of the past. Stop guilt-tripping her and calling her your concubine, pretty please! (Cutie pie Zhao Lan needs to go to the Mortal Realm pretty soon).
Oh, that lunatic is still spouting nonsense around here? Just block and ignore him/her. I think that is the best way to deal with these sort of people. They seek attention and really get off on making people mad.
I felt the scene where TZ was attacked and then saved by his Asura sword felt very short, wonder if it was cut…
It was short but not cut. He just sensed that someone was coming and hid away. I think most Cdramas are not that good in terms of editing. Most of the time the transition between scenes are not smooth and that's why it feels choppy. I've sort of got used to it though. lol

I said I wanted the plot to move forward but upon seeing that evil creature in the previews, I changed my mind. π My babies can keep on demon hunting, tomb raiding, bickering and falling in love indefinitely. I really don't mind. I just don't want them to be tortured. π©β
