Yes! I am so glad such a good script is being performed by such a good acting cast. They really put their hearts into it and understood the characters. They also don't have the egos in trying to insert their own selves into these characters and try to take over them. They aren't TJC and LLD, they are just TQ and SCC.
So well put, I also liked SCC and tang Qi despite the flaws they have and despite the bashing few people r giving…
Yes! Once she said she was over the crush, she really did close that chapter in her life and tried to move on. I love that in episode 17 she said to TQ, "Don't worry, I am not underestimating myself or don't think you are out of my league". On one hand, she doesn't think TQ can love her as /her/ since she sees him as someone rational and would weight pros/cons/external factors but at the same time, she also loves herself and values herself (which is also why she moved on) despite thinking that. I just appreciate the depth SCC has. She just feels so much like a typical girl in our world who goes through obstacles but will pick herself up and continue on.

I am just so happy this drama exists. I think it really surprised a lot of people on the C-side too. They thought it did just be some silly romcom drama, but the characters are so alive. The introspection and reflection these characters go through, their changing relationships, etc. It really feels like these characters can exist in real life.
I want to share that people are showering a lot of love to both SCC on TQ as characters on C-platforms. SCC is more of a rarity in idol modern dramas where you can actually feel the scriptwriter love her female character and see her as an individual person.
As these types of dramas are mainly for self-insert, the focus isn't really on the FL's growth, and she is more there to just date the ML (the actual focus). These type of FLs are usually "empty" and mainly suffers through multiple things in order to be saved by ML and spend the entire time crushing on the ML or pining over the ML. Or the FL is just a flower vase where she is pretty for the audience to self-insert but there is nothing more to her personality except the audience being told she is kind/nice without efforts from the scriptwriter to show it in a subtle way that is natural.
SCC though is a lot of things, she is like a little sun that warms others, kind without making it obvious, might have self-doubt but does love herself, might be insulted but doesn't let herself be down for a long time, has so much love for her friends, will bite back when necessary, hard-worker, silly, etc. She doesn't need "saving", she can save herself and is physically stronger compared to TQ. C-viewers can't help but be attracted to her antics and her journey.
TQ is also not a typical "dominant CEO". He is on the physically weaker side, can be awkward, straightlaced, and kind of like a puppy. He can't even fight but will still try his best to protect the person he loves. He is so sincere when he falls in love and is so innocent and persistent with his desire to only "love one person my whole life like my parents did with each other". He is passionate about his job and even when he suffers through a loss, he makes sure he still does his job.
Both have filters on things which cause them to act in hilarious and out-of-pocket ways, but both can admit when they were wrong. It is so hard to change your mind on something once you decide that thing/person is good/bad. But both are willing to check on their preconceived notions and see things in a new way.
This type of pairing is a breath of fresh air because people have decided ship chemistry in idol romance drama only works with a smaller FL and 180+ cm ML (size difference) and there must be romantic moments by episode 1. But this pair is taking the viewers on a journey of falling for them as individuals first before coming to love them as a pair. And no other characters needed to be minimized or sacrificed in order for this pair to work.
I also think it should make a difference when people judge FL as unconsidarate because of the whole "struck by…
Yup, in addition, SQL outright said how many men irl really will pine after a woman that long and men will get over it. They also thought he was only into her looks in the first place. Even stat wise, many husbands tend to leave their wives when their wives are diagnosed with illnesses. Many also remarry soon after a divorce/spouse's death. TQ also didn't know SM for a month yet (and within that month, they didn't really "talk" much in depth either). They of course would think it won't bother him that much.
It just so happens TQ /is/ one of the rare men who will pine and gets that affected by a crush's passing. It is also why SCC felt bad once she saw how he reacted during the funeral scene.
One of the first things that turned B&W for TQ was this sign that had the word LOVE on it. 🥲
Also don't know if people made the connection but FJ/SCC walking away on those rainbow staircase = her taking the rainbow (TQ's color visions) with her.
Praises that ppl on C-platforms have for episode 17:
1) SCC as QST introducing himself as LY's childhood friend (typical route would be pretending to be her boyfriend to one up the rival but they didn't do that). 2) TQ saying he knows QST wasn't cheating since he knows SCC and LY and knows they won't treat a friend like that (typical route would be ML going batshit/throwing punches and "How dare you cheat on someone I love!"). 3) TQ accidentally hugging SCC on the subway and she warned him to back off/did her self-defense moves (typical route would be making that moment into some heart-fluttering scene for FLs). 4) XY being the one to point out elderly people can still care about beauty, and they should be a target audience too (typical route would be giving that type of "highlight scene" to only FLs, never the "rival" female characters). 5) GY stepping back instead of pushing it with LY when she said no (their whole relationship has been atypical for an idol drama which is great).
Basically, one of the best things about this drama is the way these characters are actually /normal/. Some things are just not that big of a deal unlike how idol romance dramas exaggerate certain situations.
Speaking as someone who is Chinese, that is how some newly graduate students dress for job interviews when they…
Yup, in addition, the main point of that scene was to show the interviewers not even giving SCC a chance in the first place. They mentioned in the hallway that SCC had a higher score than the other two interviewees during their phone interview (meaning she knew her stuff about the products). But once they saw her edited profile picture, her clothes, and her having pimples, they totally disregarded her without even asking her any more questions.
Lookism is a big thing in some Asian countries and interviewees have absolutely been disregarded just based on their appearance. SCC could had worn a white blouse/black slack outfit (more of the standard professional interview outfit) and would have been disregarded too. If it is not your clothes, it is your face, if it is not your face, it is your hair, etc. It doesn't stop. Plus, she was applying for marketing, she isn't going there to be a model.
Having interview outfits determining if you are "serious" or have skills is a slippery slope too. In the United States alone, look at how many people are turned down for a job because of their names, having 4C hair, having tattoos, etc.
How you dress/how you look shouldn't determine if you are fit for the job before an actual interview was conducted. That was the entire purpose of the scene.
I stopped watching. the started to rewatch on viki, hoping the comments would make it more appealing for me. lol…
Speaking as someone who is Chinese, that is how some newly graduate students dress for job interviews when they are fresh out of college in China especially with the current Gen-Z. There were thousands of comments saying SCC's interview outfit was how some of them dressed when they didn't know better at first. It is not them being "not serious", it is because they didn't know better nor did they expect that type of outfit might not be the best for their jobs.
Edit: In my own job, I work with some newly graduated students and some have dressed like that coming in for interviews. Gen-Z in a way is more relaxed with their job interview outfits and some just don't really know better and because they don't think the way they dress should dictate their skills.
Tbh, Filter dropping at least an episode daily is not the norm in C-drama land lol. They usually skip some days (maybe drop episodes 3-4 times a week) to drag out the airing time and allow the heat/popularity to grow. If they release episodes too quickly, it is harder for people to know about the drama and get into it especially when some of these dramas don't get promoted like how S+ dramas are promoted (meaning people knew of those dramas even before they aired). Filter for example didn't get promoted much (so not many knew this drama was even dropping) but it is being spread through word of mouth right now.
It's been more than 2 years I've watched any cdramas and these airing schedule changes are playing with my heart.…
They have some days where it is just 1 episode (based on a recent schedule I saw) and other days 2 episodes. They are trying to pace out this drama as this drama is only around 32 episodes so if they drop 2 episodes a day, it will be done in 16 days. This is honestly already a lot better because they are releasing at least an episode daily unlike some of the other ones that will skip a day here and there.
I guess the writers want us to turn off our brains while watching, LOL! Scene: FL changes wearing a cardigan as…
Do you mean with SM? SM is like an avatar so her voice is already set as the SM voice (doesn't need to be changed to another voice). It is also still SCC's body because it is light refractions so her changing/not changing would still feel the same to TQ if they were hugging (SCC's physical body). But in terms of height, TQ might not have even noticed because he was too nervous during the hug to analyze that part.
I appreciate that in episode 17, it was Xu Yue who mentioned that make-up can also be promoted to older people and just because you are older now doesn't mean you don't care about beauty. Xu Yue drops mean comments here and there but she is not the typical mean girl against FL trope because XY can do her job for sure so I am glad the drama continues to highlight she is good at her job. Idol romance dramas in general like to give all the "highlights" to only the FLs while the "mean one" becomes an NPC character and fail at their jobs.

😭
Me: They are telling you to hold hands with SCC for the rest of your life sir.
