Just finished this today, story was good, acting was good, chemistry was there, fight sequences, plot twists, comedy. Really enjoyed it. Didn't even notice the hours going by, lol it felt short. I don't mind the ending provided there's actually a season 2. If that's where it ends then the last 6 minutes of the last episode will be deleted from my mind, it will simply not exist.
Although I do hope they can make a season 2 - to get this cast again though damn

I also started and just watch episode 4. Ziyu is very clumsy at the moment, but that just his character, the way the story has been laid out so far, it's like he pretends not to care because he was hurt when he lost his mother and his father didn't really acknowledge him, seeing him as the weak or soft hearted one, so he just went in that rebellious comfort zone. I think he knows Shangue is a better fit but is cautious about his family line and him, rather they cautious of each other, why is that? Because Shangue clearly does not like Ziyu either.
This is where I get confused. There are four family branches, Ziyu and Shangue obviously don't belong to the same ones, however why do they have inner family conflict/emnity. Shangue said he wasn't after the Sword wielder title and he gets along perectly well with YuanZhi (who I'm assuming is from another branch unless he's Shangues younger brother, not cousin) Was the inner family conflict/emnity explained already or did I miss it? Is it only based on the suspicions that Ziyu is not a "blood" Gong? I need to see a family tree at this point, and the backstory between these clans, unless I'm being impatient and it unfolds in time

I also just finished episode 4 and think he is clumsy, but that's just his character at the moment, maybe we have some growth there, also I have so many questions about the family conflict, and dislike between Shangue and Ziyu

Nice, glad you enjoyed. Our main couple only got together in the last 6 episodes, wasn't much romance but I actually didn't mind because the story kept going. I'm currently watching The Double, because I'm now looking for these types of dramas lol. My Journey to You is also my next watch on the list 😁

Yeah I think its like a censorship for the reincarnation arc and not influencing people to unalive themselves because by doing so they can get do-overs in life. Sounds ridiculous but its to censor that belief hence they created the modern day version of "it's just a script". That's just what I concluded based on all the comments I read on plots like this.
I've seen them add similar elements to body swapping dramas as well for the gender censorship - The Day of Becoming You had something like this

🤣🤣 Ikr, that had me laughing so much, I was like this guy, is so petty 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I loved his character though

I know, I ended up liking his character way more than I thought he would, I felt so sad for him

I also tiptoed around this drama, it wasn't pulling me in, but also gave it a shot recently and really enjoyed it

There were 2 forceful kisses, and a slap to our FL (not from our ML)

In the first episode she dies in her first life and that how her first life (story) ended, it happens almost 10minutes into the first episode, when she dies, the next scene moves to the modern world where she (the author) is writing a story (Story of Kunning Palace), but she (author) doesn't like the ending and wants to change the FL ending, hence the reincarnation/do-over, and hence she rewrites the story to give a new ending. The modern world/author part was put in for censorship purposes from what I understand.

I was also hesitant at first, the poster didn't even draw me in but I decided to give it a try after reading the write up. Its not your perfect drama and you may question certain elements so it does come with flaws however the part I enjoyed and liked was our ML's character Xie Wei/Xie Juan, he's definitely not our typical upright, straight laced hero, he's ruthless, cunning, forceful, unapologetic, has a controlling and possessive nature, almost villainous...almost lol for me anyways because he's not completely aggressive about his plans and very level headed in his political schemes, but he's damn smart and witty as hell, always 5 steps ahead if not more, even when you think he's lost, he surprises you, I definitively enjoyed watching this character as this type was new to me, I'm so used to watching the "typical romantic hero" type, but not here, He's almost the opposite, definitely someone you would avoid if you came across him. So much so that I am looking for other dramas with this character type that explore more gray characters.
Some other characters also grew on me and the story was also easy to follow, overall I enjoyed it

Enjoyed the overall take, was refreshing and realistic. Not what I expected looking at the poster so had little expectations, but definitely came out enjoying this one

I thought it was just me 😂 everytime he fought it annoyed me so much, he fought the lead guard in the master's compound so they were claiming he had decent fighting skill but you still get your ass kicked to the point of almost passing out by one punch/kick on multiple occasions - that really didn't make sense to me and irritated me. Overall though I did enjoy the drama, was a refreshing take.
