"was it you? you messed with my jun kyung?" "my jun kyung? you're dating?" "i'm his older brother ..." "love knows no boundaries. it was a plausible assumption lolz" (episode 2, 10:44)
the rooftop verbal sparring and fight scenes were no joke, and tae vin (myung ha)'s opponent falling into his waiting arms? that was slapstick comedy gold right there!
ju ji hoon in a "romance" drama? i'm disappointed. i'd like to see him in a heart-pumping, adrenaline-fueled action or thriller. that's where he shines! he's got the intense gaze, swift moves, and charisma to carry an entire drama on his shoulders
the story takes us on an exciting and challenging adventure. a man from the real world is tasked with rescuing another man within the virtual world, and the task is clear: tae vin (myung ha) should make joo wan (yeo woon) happy. failure results in execution
my question: why is the trailer teasing us with the possibility of a breakup? is tae vin (myung ha) playing emotional chess, winning joo wan (yeo woon)'s heart and breaking it later? does he want to be executed? it's counterintuitive that he would jeopardize his mission and the bond he has formed with joo wan (yeo woon)
i feel bad for min su (sang won). he's pining after tae vin (myung ha), someone who doesn't reciprocate his feelings. crossing my fingers that min su (sang won) and woong ki (kyung hun) will find their way to each other. they'd have a sweet and endearing dynamic
I really don't understand the point of omegaverse like do people just enjoy it cause men are supposedly able to…
it's a complex interplay of sociocultural forces. we have (internalized) male fetishization of the female ability to give birth, and female rejection of the same ability. the women resent and seek to distance themselves from this aspect of their identity. they then project outwardly onto a fictional merging of human, non-human, masculine and feminine characteristics
you're not dumb. you were right that "omegaverse" is generally pornographic and fetishistic
Oh woahhh. Where have you been? I remembered we argued back and forth about this show on this very page when ep…
your resident "omegaverse" hater here! thank you for remembering me. i’ve been nose-deep in textbooks and notes the past months. having survived the exam season, i can relax, put my feet up and enjoy some good old-fashioned online bickering
let's not get worked up over ratings. "omegaverse" isn't a divine entity that should be worshipped. the people who dislike it or give it a low rating aren't blasphemers or prejudiced, misguided souls
i have a lot of problems with "omegaverse," and believe an insidious form of homophobia is behind the genre. i could list 2 of them
problem #1
the common depiction of alpha/omega interactions as predetermined and driven by pheromones, or alpha/alpha, alpha/beta relationships as taboo and improper, illustrates society's discomfort with relationships that exist outside of the procreative, heteronormative paradigm. infusing omegas (or one of the alphas that will transform into an omega) with women's traits (an ability to give birth, a nurturing disposition, etc) reduces their perceived "gayness"
"omegas are made for alphas" "women are made for men"
it's the same thing
problem #2
alpha/omega interactions lack genuine choice and agency. alphas and omegas can't resist each other's pheromones, or choose each other based on mutual attraction, shared values, and personal compatibility. it's ... off-putting
i might tolerate an alpha/alpha story, but please don't be surprised that i/others generally see "omegaverse" as a 1/10 hot mess
Suicide is a sin. You selfishly leave behind your family and friends. In my life I met traumatized people (some…
"You selfishly leave behind your family and friends"
good thing i don't have friends IRL, and my family doesn't want me around. everyone's struggles are relative and unique to their own experiences and perspective. you can't tell them how to feel about "life." it's not your place
yeah, they even ruined the first series for me.luckily i watched taht long ago.i hope they stop making a third…
the day asian or non-asian media stops pushing their "straight" agenda, we'll stop pushing your homophobic buttons. till then, grab some tissues and a stress ball. gay story arcs aren't going anywhere
Then he should continue suffering for the country. May work on Asians with their “society above individuality”…
"But that sure does bring along a lot of bs that is hard to swallow"
yep! my experience with religion was traumatic. for a long time, i'd see things that weren't there. it wasn't until i left religion behind that i was able to experience some relief and clarity
Then he should continue suffering for the country. May work on Asians with their “society above individuality”…
i've been saying since part 1 that the message of the story is incredibly insensitive. people don't attempt suicide because they are selfish or sinful. their decision is the result of trauma, lack of support, or chronic stress
the story could have worked towards addressing the systemic issues that contribute to that decision
Then he should continue suffering for the country. May work on Asians with their “society above individuality”…
common sense isn't on the rise. most "non-religious" people hold beliefs that aren't rational or evidence-based. they identify as "non-religious" and unaffiliated with organized religion, but believe in a higher power, ghost, or spiritual force in the universe. alternatively, they are "on the fence"
jae wook (gyu chul) knows how to act. from voice to the guest and death's game, he has the ability to infuse his characters with pathos. his latest performance in death's game shined through the shortcomings of the story. it was a true tour de force, a complex, rare and precious talent whose artistic genius wasn't recognized. as his frustration and anger grew, he was driven to darker and more twisted forms of expression. his beautiful creations took on a bloody, sinister and macabre quality, reflecting the degeneration of the society around him. i feel for him, deeply
"just yesterday, you and i ate ice cream and hung out. why did you do it? you're all i had" (episode 6, 47:45)
the raw honesty and deep sense of connection demonstrated in that hospital scene, where si wan (byung tae) and sang jin (ho suk) cried and opened up to each other, moved me more than the other scenes. tears welled up in my eyes
I don't understand the people so opposed to this drama. From what I saw in the manga (got about halfway through)…
"like in Jinx for example"
the accusation that jinx romanticizes abuse is a distorted reflection of its true meaning and intent. it's a nuanced, authentic portrait of the complexities of human connection and poverty
i'd like jaekyung and dan to undergo a transformative journey of self-discovery and healing, where they will find a new path forward, one that leads to a stronger, more resilient, more fulfilling and more loving relationship between them
jinx didn't glorify, fetishize or romanticize "abusive" relationships. the author presented a complex situation…
bl doesn't "fetishize" anyone or anything
i could say that "straight" media fetishizes men, women and the "straight" lifestyle. it depicts women as the ultimate prize to be won, the ultimate accessory to be adorned, and the ultimate spectacle to be gawked at. it reduces men and women to eye candy; objects of desire that fulfill the whims of the audience
are you going to ban "straight" media?
i'm not a white woman. i'm asian. bl is a genre that originated in asia. attributing it to the fantasies of white women erases the rich history and diverse perspectives of the asian women (and men) who created it
your personal attacks and name-calling are abusive. you're perpetuating the very behavior you claim to be against. why do you get to verbally abuse a real person? why don't other people get to fantasize about "abusing" fictional characters?

he'll make a grand comeback, right? plot armor has a funny way of bringing back characters we've lost hope for ... right?

jin young (kyung min): are we exchanging numbers? (episode 1, 8:34)
jin young (kyung min): could he be any sexier? (episode 1, 8:48)
jin young (kyung min) is love-struck and captivated by joong ki (do joon/hyun woo)'s charm 😏
