My opinion on this one is a mixed bag honestly. I started watching because I'm a big Woobin-MinAh stan and I have a tini tiny crush on Young Dae. And I must say, I LOVED the acting of ALL of them. I loved how Hae Young realised that not loving and being calculative and balancing her wins and loses wasn't what her name meant and decided to love JiUk wholeheartedly. She had a great character development, she was always kind but never wanted that to take centre stage. She never once blamed Ja Yeon or the other foster kids but expressed how she felt lonely in the ever changing nature of her house and how she was craving for her home with her people.
Ji Uk is truly an angel and I love how he learnt to live for himself a little at a time. I hate How BOK GI HO never apologised...that bastar* neither did Gyu Hyun and his mom btw. His bio mom however always tried to reach out to him so I give her the benefit of the doubt. I understand them but it was horrible to not see Gyu Hyun actually confronting his mom about why she is wrong or take stand for JiUk.
Not letting Woo Jae pay for his crimes and him not having divorce with his rich wife is so so off putting especially how he still was eyeing Hae Young even after his own marriage.
I can't blame Gyu Hyun for anything else though as he was a child who saw his distressed mom and his dad having multiple affairs that he didn't take any accountability for so ofcourse he tried to please his mom and make her happy but he should have stood by Ji Uk after knowing him and apologised in her stead. Gyu Hyun is quite stupid for someone running such a successful venture, he didn't realise that Woo Jae stole 2 ideas till the end and was a terrible boss to his secretary.
The thing I hated the most was but ofcourse the GLORIFICATION OF POLYAMOROUS RELATIONSHIPS. They decided to be good parents and realised that only they realised each other truly and loved each other but that is just so unrealistic. Hui Seong was constantly stressed about Minji and PD even doubted her that it wasn't his child so I can't guarantee a smooth sailing for such relationships. These things should not be glorified in mainstream media where young kids will find it cool and not think of the ugly consequences. These people were matured enough but real life isn't all shimmers and gold.
Lastly, the for the ENDING: Their reunion wasn't rushed but it lacked,
Justice for HR and Woo Jae's wife when he clearly two times her and still has feelings for his ex
Justice for secretary for Gyu Hyun never acknowledged his coding skills.
Punishment for Woo Jae by losing his job and being blacklisted from the industry completely
Realistic conversation about how the decision on both their parts to have a POLYAMOROUS RELATIONSHIP was wrong and how much stress it caused Hui Seong and then the happy ending for them would have been justified.
Apology to Ji Uk by Gi Ho, Gyu Hyun, and his mom. Plus a letter from Geum Duk as she always prioritised her daughter and treated him as an orphan.
Apology of Gi Ho and acknowledgement of his mistakes to his wife and son.
A heartfelt letter/ video/ a moment when Hae Young's mom acknowledges her own daughter as I felt really sad when she said, "I guess you loved me most before I learnt to speak", while watching the video where her mom was cradling the teddy to sleep. It kinda proves her claims that she was so kind for others that she forgot her own daughter. As she had a moment with all, Hui Seong, Ja Yeon and Ji Uk but couldn't even recognise Hae Young during the wedding but she who was always treated as cold hearted was always there at the times of sadness of others, truly loved her mom and was the KINDEST one
Loved every bit of it! Shin Min Ah the actress you are! Kim Youngdae has been my guy ever since penthouse so ofcourse i root for him and he proves himself too. The second leads were so so good the Seok Siblings reunited and with a bang but now as bro and sis in law 😂😂
I finally watched ep 1 and 2 and so much is happening and so little happened at the same time.... I think BitNa will return in the end Justitial will punish the ones who killed her as she got to know their dirty secrets I think they are the ones behind the murders and the sabotage of evidence thing that I glimpsed on No, ML won't die, he is innocent so he can't die, Justitial will realise this when he comes back to live I think he will remember her stabbing him and try to uncover her truth as he'll be confused and think he dreamt but during the dream phase in fake hell he'll see real BitNa and in real world later on help Justitia when justice system fails to punish the culprits and jeopardises victims. He'll teach her how to treat the victims with more care as well since as of now she really doesn't care about them even if they're innocent as long as she gets to kill the culprit. Love that she gives a chance but the bad guys fails to appreciate that, go back to their own wrong selves so they deserve the ending she's giving them. The romance will probably be between Justitia and ML so he'll decide to be with her in the end but Goblin ending or Moon in The Ending maybe as I think BitNa will return so they've to meet in another life as ML has done good so won't go to hell either. So maybe other God of Hell let's her live a new life with him.
It's a story with a lot of potential but lacked clever writing which makes it a drama where you need to get invested, see every panel to understand the characters and why they act the way they do. So people who dropped or skipped or never faced any trauma will obviously struggle connecting with them.
Someone said that it's a story of people wallowing in their own misery but here's the thing, that's what made the characters likeable to me.... All of them struggled and chose to live with it expecting love and returns but didn't get any why? Because one they never reached out and two they weren't in their right mind to understand the others around them but the experiences they have throughout helped them grow and by the end we see small and big changes as a ripple effect of Goon's accident prior to which he had an emotional outburst expressing how he felt neglected which gave his parents a different perspective to think and every character arc that followed. When FL ridiculed Goon for killing the mouse, she saw her past self in him and said all that because she meant it, even after the bad memory eraser her life revolved around the tragedy of her father's murder hence was born the said bad memory eraser, she could free herself from it only after witnessing and growing bit by bit while reconnecting with her lost emotions.
So many people are disappointed by the ending and rightfully so, I wanted FL to say something when they finally reunited but it wasn't so bad. The casting wasn't really an issue for me and FL was playing a character who struggled to express herself as she lost her real self after the trial so she wasn't supposed to be the most expressive in the first place.
Just as I said since day 1, it wasn't about the bad memory eraser but how they are a part of us and we have to love and accept the person with trauma to heal them and grow beautiful together. I loved when Goon didn't get the taxi to go to Ju Yeon just because she was confirmed to be his first love, he loved her no doubt but wanted to find his real self now that he saw glimpses of it during the clinical trial which now felt alien to him but because of that choice we saw how he healed which was beautiful. Shin still struggling with getting close to his college mates and remnants of OCD felt raw and real, he's on the way to finding his real self too based on his bad memories while cherishing his loved ones.
I loved this series and I'll miss it now that it's gone.
So all my theories were proven right by the end of ep 15 Dr Kyung is indeed Lee Goon's first love who repressed her happy memories with him Because that was the first time she saw the killer of her dad. She will remember the times she helped Sae Yan too. We saw glimpses of her kind self and now she'll revert back to it in the ending episode. Teo will definitely face disciplinary committee and possibly license cancellation. Shin will rescue Sae Yan and begin their love story. The killer will be arrested, Sae Yan will understand the reasons of her mother. All the bad moms are getting better now, though it doesn't free youtube from the clutches of the past trauma but as I said the ending will stress on what's more important that it to create good memories around the experience of bad ones,.only then one can truly grow and prosper.
I just started this. How's the romance? Is it a good romance story?
It's pretty good, the characters are nuanced. Fl is guilt striken and has slight victim mentality. And the ml has been through a lot. The parents give you lesson on what not to do while parenting and so on so forth.

Double the cries for me I guess
