Guys I really want to watch it but I can't watch tragedy (not atleast this year)...and this one has tragedy tag. So someone tell me if this has a happy ending?
After procrastinating for so long.....thanks to so many negative comments/reviews......I finally watched it on an impulse.....and you know what.....it’s NOT AT ALL as bad as everyone thinks it is. Let’s get one thing straight....BL is also a large umbrella of a genre. Fluffy light rom com BLs are a type just as erotic intense ones are. So many people have been so hard on this show because there wasn’t much “skinship” (rolling my eyes)....but honestly that’s a very cliche way of judging a BL show. This was a creative choice of the makers.....just like many other mature BL shows are.
Honestly....what makes this show good is it’s above average writing.....especially in the earlier episodes....even though by the last 3 episodes it got a little messy. But still.....I’ll give the credit to the makers where it’s due. The screenplay was very focused, the story progression had a good pace and the character arcs evolved well. One of my biggest criticism of Thai BLs has been their poor writing....which clearly wasn’t the case for this one.
As for the main leads, I’ll be honest the chemistry did fluctuate. In some scenes the sexual tension was good and in some scenes they seemed like brothers. So I was left confused. The acting of Win was good. He was able to portray variety of emotions and if he continues to work on his craft he definitely can tap tons of potential. On the other hand.....Bright was a muuuuch better musician than an actor in the show. He somehow seemed natural when singing his part or playing guitar (I’m assuming he had a musical background). But the moment he was suppose to emote complex emotions.....he seemed very awkward. So the boy’s gotta work hard on his acting chops.
All in all whoever is hesitant to watch this show....please don’t be. It’s a good watch and definitely one of the better Thai BL out there.
If it follows the anime then yes....sorta. I mean it’s a movie with war as the main theme....so angst level is high. But all in all....it ends on a decent note.
I’m on 1st episode....5 minutes in.....discovered they are speaking two diff languages.....it’s so freaking bizarre ? How were they able to film it ? And how come they expected the audience to be okay with it? Am I the weird one to find this very unsettling? The story looks cliche but fun.....I’ve no idea whether to continue this or drop it ?
I'm not someone who takes break from a show while watching....but it took me some time to finish this one. Why R U? is a classic example of fan servicing at the cost of quality content. This has to be one of the weakest BL scripts I've seen this year. The faulty writing was almost unbearable. The progression of the story was choppy and character developments disappointing. On the face value it wasn't a "bad show". It had good budget so production value was above average, soundtrack was especially good and actors were decent if not great. But the makers couldn't handle so many characters. Apart from the two main couples.....the role for the rest of the cast was swinging between crucial to filling screen time. Ofcourse Covid had a role to play in their shooting disruption so I understand that. But its not as if the main lead were great.....they lacked genuine connection. Chemistry is not all about skinship. Showing physical intimacy without logical or convincing story trajectory looks forced. Out of the two lead (and this might be an unpopular opinion) Zee has potential. He was raw and needs more time to better his acting chops but he has pleasant screen presence...and can improve with time. For me the only saving grace of the show were the second lead......Tommy and Jimmy had a good story....their interactions seemed more organic and not forced. This show had a lot of potential but the writing let t down.
What were the makers high on when they made this? God only knows....But am I complaining? Not really! This show was hilarious for most insane reasons.....no one can expect what they are getting into...this show will surprise the beejesus out of you! How can something so chaotic be written so damn well?! Thoroughly enjoyed it! It had good acting, decent direction, well paced romance and brilliant humour. I earlier thought I won’t be able to ship the leads because I recently wrapped My engineer and was going through Ram-King withdrawal symptom....but Lay is a good actor.....Yoon Impressed me as well....and the script was well written...so the ship sailed immediately ! Can’t wait for season 2 ☺️
Must be the best actor I have ever seen in a thai BL series. I plan to rewatch it, just to look at him again ...
I cannot agree more! To be honest.....I haven’t come across great Thai actors in the BL universe.....probably cos all of them are very young and just starting their careers.....so they seem under prepared.....but War was a pleasant surprise ☺️ And that’s cos he’s natural....an instinctual actor.
War has serious potential as an actor! He portrayed the character of Mark very well.....in every scene he shines and has the ability to capture audience’s attention. There is this amazing star quality about him which not every actor has. Can’t wait to see what all he will take up in future. He seems a natural when emoting complex emotions.....especially his eyes.....they are so freaking expressive....glad he chose acting as a profession....he will do great ?
Let me just say it aloud.....RAM-KING are one of the best Thai BL couples evaaaaaaarrrr ! There I said it ! They deserve a full fledged show of their own. I’m hoping that season 2 will have more of them cos man oh man....they have some dope AF chemistry. They have one of the best relationship arc in Thai BL universe! Everything about them was absolutely satisfying. I enjoyed Fong-Thara and Mek-Boss. The lead couple unfortunately didn’t work for me....there was no chemistry and their relationship seemed more bland than boiled water. After Why R U....which has nothing but skinship, skinship and more skinship with zero character or emotional sense....this was refreshing. Can’t wait for season 2 ☺️
Yes he does more the once. Just to show her that he can do whatever he wants to her and because after "having…
Okay waow.....I’m speechless. I like Push and thought to give his other shows a try.....and then I stumbled on this show. I don’t think I can ever watch this no matter how much I like the actors. This is beyond disturbing. No matter what anyone says.....I’m deeply troubled by how much such genre are liked by the masses. I hope Thai shows change this about themselves.....don’t get me wrong....I genuinely like Thai stuff....but such hardcore lakhorn send horrible message. I’m all for passion.....but consensus is important.....glorifying forced intercourse is just wrong and medieval.....we are in the 21st century for crying out loud !
I’m on episode two.....it’s seems okay as of now.....but after watching Tharn type....I feel Pete and Kao have no chemistry. They seem like best friends more than boy friends. It’s not just about skinship....it’s much more than that. I felt in the previous season they had better chemistry. Does their chemistry improve in the coming episodes ?
I JUST watched history 3 make your days count and I swear I need to go to some rehab to get over the pain ! If this show ends similarly then I’m gonna have a serious fight someone !
So I just finished watching it but I’m confused. If yu xi gu is dead....then who was that kid hao tin was meeting ? First half of the last ep I though yu xi gu had some brain damage so he’s stuck being 18 but then they say he’s dead ? Someone clarify!
