I came here after TES because I wanted to watch another Bo Ran drama, but then I saw Elvira was the FL and read the synopsis, and I was like, yep, this drama is for me. And I definitely don’t regret hitting play. It’s so good.

For me, it’s definitely worth watching. I really enjoyed it, especially the hunt for the final villain and the emotional journey between Jiang Han Sheng, Jiang Cheng, and Zhou Jin. You also have to keep the Chinese patriotic angle in mind, since the police probably aren’t going to be portrayed too badly for too long, if it happens at all. Honestly, each case gets more complicated as the story goes on, and you keep uncovering more clues. But in the end, it really comes down to personal taste and what you’re excited to watch

The drama doesn’t really make a big deal out of why he was on the raid with the team, even though he’s a SWAT sniper. I’m guessing that in China, as a police officer, he can join these operations whenever the tactical team needs him, especially since he was the captain. The bigger question and really the heart of the thriller is why he lost his life in the first place.

What is the balance between the thriller and romance? I usually need a good dose of romance :D
80% thriller, 20% romance. The romance may not be the main focus, but it still matters, and it’s actually really beautiful and mature to watch unfold

Yes! I think all that confusion was actually part of the growth journey Flora and Luke had to go through. No problem! 😊

I’ve loved this psychological crime thriller from beginning to end. The beginning was a little confusing because of the flashbacks jumping between different years, but I decided to trust the writing and let the story guide me, and everything started falling into place as it went on.

The villain was brilliantly acted, and I really liked his backstory. I also loved how every case gave us another clue that brought us closer to the truth about what happened on August 17th and what the protagonist went through.

I’m usually not a fan of love triangles at all, but this one actually won me over because it showed something very real: our choices have consequences, even when the love between Zhou Jin and Jing Cheng runs that deep.

I personally liked that she ended up with Jiang Han Sheng, because he gave her the chance to move forward and discover that she could love someone else. Love can also be about being there, feeling at peace, and feeling safe.

And I loooved Jing BoRan as criminal profiler. Ugh, so damn sexy.

I feel like at first, Luke and Flora wanted a friends-with-benefits kind of relationship. That’s why Fridays were basically their day to meet up, hook up, and that was it. But by keeping that connection going and still working together, they both slowly fell for each other. The problem is, they never really talked about what their relationship had become or where they wanted to take it. They just left it unspoken.

Title Overdo Spoiler
Qing Yi seems to have made money on his own, not to mention the fact that he took over the Huo fortune because…
At the end of the day, I think Overdo is really about what happens when people get stuck in toxic, self-destructive cycles. Through its characters, the show explores all the contradictions, cruelty, and darkness that come from not being able to move on or walk away, even when staying is destroying you.

The writing isn't perfect, but that's what the drama was trying to say, at least to me.

Title Overdo Spoiler
Qing Yi seems to have made money on his own, not to mention the fact that he took over the Huo fortune because…
Deep down, Qingyi does want to belong to the Murong family. His arrogance is basically a way of pretending he doesn't care, but what he really wants is to be acknowledged and loved.

That's the conflict he's trapped in: leaving means being completely alone, but staying means keeping his place in the family despite the abuse.

And yes, he does have connections, but he's still protected by the Murong name. You have to remember that, during that period, the old clan system from imperial times was still very much alive. It was almost like rival factions or warlord-style networks, where you needed powerful elders backing you, like Mr. Li or his mother.

By their standards, Qingyi is still very young to be completely independent. He can make moves, like what he did with the planes, but he doesn't have enough power to control everything yet. It's a very cultural thing.

Qing Yi seems to have made money on his own, not to mention the fact that he took over the Huo fortune because…
China during the Republican era was all about family clans. A powerful surname meant connections, protection, and people in your corner. Without that, you were basically powerless.

Qingyi doesn't leave because that's all he's ever known. Years of abuse have convinced him that he's worthless.

If I remember correctly, in Story of Kunning Palace they portrayed her first life as more of a nightmare rather than literal time travel. She was also a writer in the modern era, and her story mirrored the plot of the drama. It’s not like she actually went back to the past, rewrote it, and changed reality.

In contrast, in How Dare You?, Dan goes back to the modern world 15 years before Wanyin and uses his knowledge of the future to make different choices while waiting for her to return from the novel she transmigrated into.

What i most like in this drama is the equal screen time for both protagonist most cdramas female centric or from…
No transmigration or time-travel c-dramas include a modern-day continuation because it’s restricted in China. There are several reasons for this, but one of them is that authorities don’t want to promote the idea that you can rewrite your life story or change your destiny by going back to the past and altering your choices

The ending of the novel would’ve never passed censorship because when Dan returns to the modern world, he uses everything Wanyin told him to become a CEO and orchestrate an entire plan to pull her into the book’s world so they can reunite. That’s exactly one of the reasons this kind of drama gets censored in China: it promotes the idea that you can rewrite your destiny through reincarnation or by jumping between worlds.

I don’t think I explained myself well in my earlier comment. If they’re gonna give us a separation scene, I need the love story to really make me feel that the ML and FL love each other and that it hurts not to be together. That way I can root for their happy ending. Hope that makes more sense!

I don’t really get it either. Without those slower episodes from 21–29, the yearning in the final ones wouldn’t hit as hard

I feel like it was the best ending for Sanho and Munju. He was always going to be a spy with all those charges hanging over him, and Korea was always going to be her home. They just couldn’t be together. Also, I’m sure he’s alive because of that open door before everything exploded
