My theory about the movie and the end of the movie in comment below.
At the end, when she collapses at the train station and the two versions meet face to face in her dream-like state... My theory is this.
It wasn't really the chocolate de-ageing her brain all along. Her "becoming younger" was an outlet or coping mechanism. She is a people-pleasing repressed 28-year old. In a moment of crisis (the car chase at the beginning) she realises her whole world is crashing and the one thing that she seems to have been banking on to come through and salvage things (the marriage proposal) falls through. She's at last confronted with the fact that she has nothing at that point; no career, no marriage and probably no home.
So what does she do? She wishes for a self that is optimistic and full of dreams. She wishes for a self before she met this damned guy. She wishes for a self that could still draw and didn't care so much about other people's opinions. She wants to be that young person again, free to fall in love with someone new, free to be reckless.
When she collapses at the station, it's not a magical chocolate overdose; it's a mental breakdown. And in the dream state when she hugs and lets the younger version go, it's her accepting that rather than pretend to be someone else, she should just be who she is. She realises there is no wisdom in wishing to be young again as you cannot go back, only forward. She realises that it's all still her and still in her, and she can be who she wants to be. She realises that she can have the wisdom of years together with the spontaneity of youth, that she doesn't have to suppress that anymore. So she makes peace with herself and is able to be stable once again.
This drama is getting wonderful reviews but idk I'm not into it? I find the female lead so annoyingly over the top. The relationships feel artificial to me and the events feel disjointed which makes it hard to form any emotional connection. On episode 8 now. Does it get better?
Okay the choppy editing and the rough transitions and the out of sync voice dubbing is making this show difficult. The plot is fun enough and I don't mind the acting of the leads... I just don't understand what went wrong during post production. They had months and months and yet this is how it come out. sigh.
You're not alone :)) I look forward to their romance scenes
I like romance stories where the leads are kind of an odd pair so the show has to really convince us. Where at the beginning you go "what's this?" but by the end you're going "awwww". From the trailer I can tell we will have some good romance coming up.
waiting for reviews before I start watching... pour the reviews in!
Not a review... just a first impressions after 1 episode. It's lots of fun. It's not realistic at allllll, but it's fun and it looks like it will be funny and touching at the same time. Jerry Yan is hot and Shen Yue is cute and they strangely do have some good chemistry going on. I'm sticking with it.
We all agree the drama version is waaayyyy better than the movie. However, the movie is not tooo terrible. I did warm up to both leads here. Wasn't a huge fan of Yang Yang's acting from Love020 but he impressed m here. They had good chemistry and I think Crystal Liu made a better Bai Qian than Yang Mi... I'm now curious and wondering what TMOPB would have been like if she played Bai Qian opposite Mark Chao. The CGI was better than the drama as well. But again, what does all that matter when the plot is so choppy and confusing?
A good light story with poignant moments. Only problem is the dialogue which sometimes reads like a secondary school stage play and the acting... The FL and SML left much to be desired. All round very enjoyable though.
Can someone tell me what episode she stops being dumb?

Hahahaha. Exact same thoughts.
