You can watch it as a stand alone. The plot is ten years later. So what happened before doesn’t really matter…
Exactly. I love historical dramas but only with good ending. From Chinese history I love Secret of three kingdoms, which was amazing and also very interesting. Asian historical dramas are in most of the cases sad. Even though I love Lee Byeong Heon I didn't watch Mr Sunshine because I know the ending :/
wow must be one of biggest age gaps in dramaworld history LOL! not saying it wouldnt be a good or great drama,…
20 years it's pretty big gap, but it's not that bad. Plus Asians look young in overal, so it's not that visible and sometimes hard to guess their real age. There are many Asian actors/actresses, who are in their 40s but look like they are in their 20s XD. Also, it's nice to show from time to time that age is just a number and doesn't matter when it comes to love.

I hasitated at first because I saw the movie with Jet Li, so I know how it will end. I don't really like bad endings. But I saw first episode and the fight scenes are so good, therefore I have to continue to watch it XD XD. I am just sad that China doesn't look like this anymore. The clothes, martial arts, culture... It was so great.

Don't even talk about TMN. There are so many plot holes. Also I hate how Chinese overdubb the actors. Plus I don't know if you noticed, but firstly: all the "Japanese" people there are actually Chinese and secondly: the worst is that you can actually see that the actors speak Chinese but they are overdubbed with Japanese language. I speak both Chinese and Japanese, so it was sooo irritating for me.
I love Chinese dramas so much, but they are too much obsessed with perfect clear voices that are so unreal.
This TLT3 reboot is great. The voices are very nice. The only one, who is overdubbed is Boss Jiao. I love the actor, so I know that this is not his voice. Especially when he speaks "English". That is so so bad. XD XD

Agree, cast is so great!! Also Fatty's character's actor is the same as in TOTS. I liked also the cast in TLT 1 (Yang Yang was just amazing as Zhang Qi Lin), but I didn't like the cast in the season 2. I don't really like when the cast is changing, however LTR's cast is very pleasing. And they also chose an amazing main villain. Tse Kwan Ho as boss Jiao is awesome. He is great as a good guy, but his villain roles are perfect. Looking forward to next episodes!!

Well, I would recommend to watch at least The lost tomb 1, so you get the idea what happend before TOTS. In my opinion TMN and TLT 1 are important. Plus TLT 1 has only 10 episodes, so it won't take you so much time to watch it. And it's pretty nice. Also it's the only series with uncle San before he dissapeared.

Depends if you love adventure, suspense, tomb riding and chinese history. If you do then watch everything. The whole story starts with The Mystic Nine, which is set in Republican era in China and it explains the Nine gates and Nine families. Then The lost tomb 1 and 2. Then this series that is currently airing and the last one is Tomb of the sea. All of the series are totally amazing, especially Tomb of the sea. You can of course skip, but you will miss many information and also it could be sometimes confusing. I saw all of them and I am still sometimes confused XD
You can watch The Mystic nine and The tomb of the sea, too. If you want to have a better understanding.
Agree, The mystic nine is a must!!! Because it explains the Nine gates and the nine families, which is really important in Tomb of the sea. If someone didn't watch it then the following series might be confusing. For example The mystic nine story appears in Tomb of the sea with Zhang Ri Shan and Fo Ye, so it's a bit connected.
In the intro we see Wu Xie get his neck cut, fall, and then he's lying on the sand. I have yet to watch the episodes…
Well, Grave robbers chronicles are really confusing sometimes. Like even after Tomb of the sea I still have more questions than answers. I would need TOTS season 2. And the problem is that the stories are not even chronological. It keeps jumping from past to present and again to past and so on. Maybe when all the stories are released, it would be great to start with Mystic nine and end with Tomb of the sea, which is so far the only one in "present".

I remember it was in The lost tomb 1 at the start of the series. They were in a cave with uncle San and others and Wu Xie got bitten by corps beetle into his neck. But he doesn’t have scar in this new series on the left side of his neck.
My 1st tomb movie & decide to watch because of wuxie actor bring that character alive in the tomb of the sea teaser&mv.…
Have you seen Mystic Nine? Because this is the first series where the story line about Nine gates starts during Republican era in China. If you haven't seen it, I recommend to see it because it will clear things up for you. Without seeing that, there will be some parts in Tomb of the sea and other side stories, which you won't understand probably without context.
Does anyone know where we can buy all the books in english ? Because the seasons of this drama make little to…
Hey, maybe try amazon. But it's kinda hard to get these books. It's such a shame though because it's amazing series. I manage to find them on one webside. There should be all books and chapters, so you can read online at least. And I agree with you. It's really confusing sometimes. Also the actors change a lot.
Damn, I am so happy it's finaly here. 盗墓笔记 series are the best. Tomb of the sea was amazing and I hope for second season, but so far nothing. At least this series came out and it looks really great so far!! It’s funny and I am already into it. The flashlight fight between Wu Xie and Pang Zi was hilarious!! Plus they chose great actors. I am glad to see Tse Kwan Ho here as Boss Jiao, he is amazing.
