Umm i don't think they are supposed to be all nice. High gods/Heavenly Emperors are supposed to be emotionless so they can look objectively over the three realms. At least that is what i have seen in most xianxia's I've watched. They have emotions = desires = chaos. The lower powered immortals also seek to become more powerful so that in turn makes them pridefull and selfish. Some overcome this and become emotionless, some stay at that one power point their whole life, others fail. Overall before they become high gods they are all swayed by emotions to a point, mostly the negative ones that accompany power hunger.
