Please, he seems like a henpecked husband lol. He only ever cares what his now "wife" tells him to do and is like he cannot think ahead at all at times. Like ok he can not care that his now "wife" may have killed his official wife, but going as far as even doing things that he knows are gonna hurt his legitimate daughter is really beyond me. Hell, thankfully Duke Su was there to provide Jiang Li a strong alibi, but imagine he wasn't- every freaking one in the Jiang family will make Jiang Li the black sheep, even her supposedly "doting" grandma. I feel like she indulges Jiang Li's stepmom when she doesn't reprimand her in fear of "offending" her, like come on you are supposedly the head of the family, no ones word is more heavy than yours in this household, not even Shu Ran's as she is 1stly the woman married into your family, then is she a daughter of any other family out there. Truly makes me baffled what kind of family this is.

Its intentional lol. Imo she did it for 2 reasons- 1 as a warning to SYR, and 2, to try and test them both - if Jiang Li is really XFF and if yes, did SYR purposely lie and set up XFF's new identity. Based on how she acted, it was also jealousy.
