That will be clear in the immortal arc. When her mission is not on her shoulders. It was the same in the novel - mortal arc is dealing with the world destruction and it's prevention, while immortal arc was where they both grew up from their mistakes and confronted their inner feelings.

What is the point of her saying "I love you" and "Goodbye" when even she doesnt believe she can go back to her time? Why tie him up with her love and dilemma when she can make him hate her and inevitably rid him of the guilt feeling he'd have she sacrifed for him? Same outcome was when MY told all the hurtful words to SJ thinking he'd die in that war, and he did not want her to be tied up with regret for him and waste her life in grief.
