It is my first time watching him as well, and I found him acting just fine as well. I love his portrayal here, I think he’s the perfect XW (I dont find him as extremely handsome as other claimed him to be, but he is after i see how beautiful XW is)

Zhang Ling He for sure. His delivering of the line “and then? Then you’ll escape…” the line, full of twisted irony anger, sounds like it comes out from one of those twisted, deranged eunuch from the 90s drama lol. Anyway, I’m chilled to the bone and impressed by that face and that line. I personally love all these ugly shots, I don’t see a beautiful actor, I see a deranged person lol.

You see the characters so clearly 👏👏👏👏👏👏 just to demonstrate your point “she loves him earlier on” - ep11, minute 40, JXN shows a bit of anger: 1 - she thinks he’s sick, but he’s not, so her small worries was wasted, 2 - he didn’t come to class to teach her. These little things show she cares a lot more about him than just a person who doesn’t. Same thing with when they were trapped in the temple in the mountain, she was worried for his illness and didn’t want him to come out to celebrate her birthday, but indirectly cut his heart in several places and pulled our heartstrings.

I think another thing ppl doesn’t seem to recognise about JXN and ZZ’s relationship is that even if they manage to be together, at one point in their life, they will be in the situation where he’s forced to bend his moral compass for her, and can’t accept that consequence and would confess and get killed (just like in the past life). She recognised this problem and break up with him. And while initially she felt hurt, she seems to move on quicker than she thought (like once she made up her mind, she can move on that fast means she doesn’t love him to start with, very different from the book, this is where we need to recognise the drama is a different entity to the book in this regard).

Are you delusional right now? “I never seen a man say yes she is serial killer but she is hot so it's ok na it's doesn't work like that” - just to give you a rude awakening, there are many serial killers that have tons of fan girls/fan boys liking them (are they sick, yes, but point is this statement of yours is very untrue to reality).
Moving from that point, “toxic is toxic, no matter what” - even the laws don’t do that. The laws look at reasons behind what leading to the results. ML has some mental problems due to his traumatic past, and while he forced kiss her twice ( 1 during his episode, 1 he stopped after the kiss then wait for the FL and only after she stops resisting, they go further). Being overly jealous but doesn’t do anything harmful is again not toxic, if he’s got jealous and hit the FL, ok he’s toxic but he didn’t. If he got jealous and tried to hurt ZZ, then he’s toxic but again he DIDN’T. Blanket naming all behaviours as toxic shows you are very shallow minded and can’t grasp what’s real.
And again, like many other viewers, please recognise the differences between fact and fiction. If every fiction shows only green flags behaviours, we are literally put ourselves in a corner, limit your imagination, and misrepresenting life.
I’ll leave you with a quote from XW: “sometimes, we couldn’t be the good guys, so we have to be the bad guys, that isn’t a bad thing… either being crushed or strive to move forward… lucks is only for a small number of ppl, and heaven doesn’t favour us, hatred , perhaps is a good thing” (when you are forced to be a bad guy/in a bad position, make the most of it, cling onto whatever you have or you will get crushed). That’s his character, either he commits suicide or he, with all his injuries, moves forward to get justice for those who past.

1 - this is a drama. You can’t have all dramas being good and dandy, it’s boring and it’s in itself not life. Real life is a full spectrum of colours, this was a dark ML and dark FL, neither of them are saint.

2 - you truly did not see why the director use “ugly” shot. When the ML has episodes, his face was rather scary and not beautified. I wouldn’t call ZLH was handsome in those shots. Watch ep 32, after the forced kiss, he has a deranged face and look. The dialogue straight after the forced kiss proves how insane/not normal he is: going from threatening to begging.

3 - you saw the forced kiss and you stop there. You did not see how in ep 36, after a forced kiss, he stopped, he waited, and only after she stops resisting, they went in for another kiss.

4 - and for 34, he knows there are barriers she puts up, he does not understand why, we the audience knows why. He exposed her and pushed her hard so she could tell him the true reason. Is it extreme? Yes it is. Is it emotionally abusive? Hardly. It’s not like if you don’t love me, I’ll harm myself. It’s more you afraid I will harm you, so here, harm me and believe I won’t. You used today political correct lenses to judge each action, but you do not try to see the reasons behind it, very much a Zhang Zhe thing.

5 - while the ML gets jealous and angry with her, at best he does is cook her a whole banquet of sour food. The time where he fought and yelled at her is because she baffled him, running away, showing cares but doesn’t want to give them a chance (not even considering it). After the wedding banquet fight, where he used everything he has to try to get her to stay, the next day, he apologised and even tried to get her out quickly if she still wish to go.

6 - ML is not perfect. So many dramas, ML is perfect flawless, and that in itself is unrealistic and is equally troublesome. I hope views are more perceptive. Give this drama a chance, and XW a chance. Btw, I truly believe that give XW to any veteran capable actors, the character would still shine. But ZLH got the part, and he did well, and so now XW is his

lol. I’m not sure you can stand the old drama. Back then, the makeup is rather bad, and the screen is rather dark, but the story was very interesting. These days, those stories have been done to dead lol, but it’s still very nice to watch if you don’t mind those issues

Yes, many of us who loves it know the romance has started the second she got into the palace but apparently many wants a declaration of love by 12 or 20 lol 😑 to me, this is slow burn done so right. It might be slow at first but man, once it catch on fire, it’s an inferno 🤣🤣🤣

In the book, FL has full memory of her past life. But due to censorship, they couldn’t do the drama and refer to the feeling the FL has due to past events because you know it’s s censored. So they came up with the idea to tell their past story in 1 drama, one and only, where it’s tragic. Then tell the actual book in forever and ever, with what happened in the past as a tv drama series lol! Sooo she can kinda reference back to it for the audiences to know why her feelings is like this n that, and totally within bound lol. Rather a genius idea. Main problem I have with forever and ever is the ML lol, possibly best to use another actor but it was not bad? But it could be sooo much better lol. Think XW (minus all the red flag), green flags all the way but super hot toward his wife lol

I second this. Like as much as BL is my favourite, but I dont watch all of her shows nor do I think all of them are a 10. This on the other hand deserve at least a 9.5 (10 for me as it has been used to find one that is so entertaining while having everything going for it, the plot, the acting, the chemistry, and considering I dislike court drama, and found this sooo entertaining, it’s just show how good it is)

So the rumour started off last year with papz released photos of her outside his house. However, they never confirmed nor deny this rumour. This year, there are ppl saying the photos that got released was faked, they were spliced together, and that there was never photos of them together in 1 frame. Also this year, a few months ago I think, the paps declared they must have broken up because there were no news of them 🙄
Obviously if you want to believe it, you will believe they are/were together. And if you don’t, you don’t 🤷‍♀️
Supposingly, BL has said indirectly disputed this rumour by declaring herself single on one of her account. And if you are camp YunLu (Bai Lu and Luo Yun Xi), then her account header is that of LIS, he and she sang the same song that has the lyrics: “now I’m brave enough to say I love you” (might not be accurate, just whatever I remembered).
