Myself, I just thought it would be the usual cutesy BL, a run-of-the-mill BL type. Never knew about the change in setting location, what they did to counter Chinese censorship and the risk they are taking and how close to the source material the writing was. As I got deeper into the rabbit hole, I found myself smiling at my chance for choosing this drama out of all others. Lucky me! 😌

I don't have "proper" BL to recommend. Sorry to disappoint. My last three really liked "bromance" though was 2 animations ( the summer hikaru died and NeZha ) and a Chinese drama Blood River. It seems that I'm on my non-canon wave as of lately. 😉

I'm really happy I gave this drama a chance. To be honest I knew nothing about the source material prior to the live adaptation release, don't know the cast, the plot: NADA. Then I saw the drama thumbnail with no details and I thought "okay another BL 🥱yeah whatever " there are so many BL out there, plenty of fishes in the sea and I was overwelmed with work, I just wanted a SIMPLE story to escape reality for a bit, that was the masterplan!!

... then LOL maybe an angel whispered to my ears because I still end up clicking on the drama ... without expectations. and now I'm obsessed like Fan Xiao's addiction style LOL or close enough. Who would wake up a 5:30 AM to watch the drama release??? Well if it's normal for you, it is a first for me.

So to everyone who might be tempted but are unsure. To whoever feel that it is not gaining traction online like other popular BL or whatnot ... read the warning tags, beware of possible trigger and enjoy the ride. Because this is a hidden gem. And I am more than grateful to stumble upon it. 😉 This is by far my favorite BL of the year. Still half way through though, but based on current collected data, I'm positive It will be one damn good viewing experience.
