It's so strange to see people considering Milk a better actress than Namtan. Maybe it's those who only watch BL?
Milk is not a bad actress, but Namtan is an epic vetran. Namtan was the one holding The Player together with her portrayal of the baddie, Giwi. That was her best role IMHO. She just had chemistry with every other actor and was able to ham it up at the right times without overshadowing her fellow players. It was also a role completely different from what she usually plays, showing that she has some amazing range. I hope to see her in more of those roles. Milk has the potential to be on the same level as Namtan with experience.
Hiro, my boy, take in your studies in film production well. Examine everything wrong in My Story where you are one of the strongest performers and produce some fine Pinoy dramas for us fans :D
At ep.6 all I can say is Oxin has some good location scouts, did well to get actual sponsors, and has some comparatively competent casting directors, but that's about it! From the country that brought two of the best, groundbreaking BL properties of all time in Gameboys and Gaya Sa Pelikula (Like in the Movies) we have this mess that is Oxin producing this... this... whatever this, its predecessor, and Rainbow Prince are. Anyway, all three are like trainwrecks: you know it's a disaster but you can't look away! Xion Lim seems to be the M. Night Shyamalan of Asian Drama. The premise is good, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired! The ad-libbing is just annoying and downright wrong at times. We have Sky's parents on the phone to him and suddenly the Dad and neighbour just go off into this tangent about nuts! Most of the dialogue between Jelai and Jam seems to be less genuine than in Whose Line is it Anyway! Didn't Oxin want to pay for a writer for these characters? Some of the printed scenes in the show seem to be practice shots and Xion just said, "Cut! Print! That's a wrap!" on the first take! Sad to say, but this material in the hands of JP Habac (Gaya Sa Pelikula, Meet Me Outside, and others) or Ivan Andrew Payawal (Gameboys, Unconditional, and others), or many others may have been actually award-winning! Let's not even talk about continuity! Clothes and hair change from one scene to the other with no real time passing! The scenes where Drake and Zeke are handing out fliers and end up in the saloon are supposed to be continuous. When they are in the saloon and speaking to Earvelene's "owner" they are dressed completely differently! Couldn't Oxin have at least one person on this? However, this formula seems to be working quite well for Oxin Films. They have sponsors, even if the product placement is some of the worst shots of the products, and My Story is in 4K and 5.1 surround sound!
As much as I hate to say your comment really hit the nail . I had lots of expectations from this series . But…
They really had an amazing property here. The acting was epic, the locations were perfect, the world felt lived in, the story was quite a good one. They dropped the ball on some of the character growth and motivations.
We have that silly Chuckchuck side story that takes away from the Thai scenes! So much development between Sky and Win could have been done there! The story is good, the characters interesting, but Xion needs to stay far, far away from directing! Zeke and Fifth have so much promise! We should have forgotten about Sky, his X and that dam dog and just focus on these two!
It was mentioned Chot had stomach problems that is why he was in the hospital
Exposition is a hell of a thing if you don't know how to use it. Something central to the plot that causes a main action should not just be in a small like of exposition. Bad storytelling!
I was wondering the same thing! This show is confusing and the way they keep adding scenes that were filmed with…
I also missed the scene where Pat calls Put to do the blocking. When was that? We had the team talking about it, then suddenly a scene with Put out of nowhere. Then we have some exposition of Pat calling Put. What's going on here?
I could well do without the Thai part of the story. The plot of the people at the restaurant is ridiculous and…
At times the restaurant staff looks like some sort of parody. It reminds me of the BBC Red Nose production of Upstairs Downstairs which was a parody of Downton Abbey :D
Win and Sky's x-rated flirting by the pool felt very much like an authentic interaction between two, sexually…
The scene in pt.3 where Win speaks of his background was well done exposition. One of the very few main positives of the episode. Teejay handled that expertly.
Ep.4 In the words of Dr. Who, "What? What? What? What?" 1st scene: Why is there so much freeking ad-lib? Is it that hard to write a good parent-child conversation? The neighbour and Sky's Dad start this side thing about nuts. Gosh! Fifth and Zeke's banter about nude photography wasn't so bad. Seemed to be almost organic jibbing between two friends. Almost. What the hell is this side story with YummyEater69 and Ms. Beckey? Ahm, couldn't you remove the caw caw sound for the establishing scene for the restaurant? Generously shot, but the sound seems to want to add a hint of horror. Ms. Becky's conversation with Zeke could have been one to set up a relationship of mentor and mentee, but it had to become a bit cringy. The pool scene with Sky and Win was nice. Teejay did an excellent job of establishing some of Win's back story. Zeke making coffee for Fifth was cute and quite a good product placement, but, and this is just a slight nitpick here, couldn't you have edited out the slurp sounds my dear Xion? That sort of kills the effect. Chuckchuck seems not to want to be in the show. Do you blame him? At least Drake lost him in an almost believable way. I'm not Pinoy, but do you guys usually just drop brand-name clothing on the street like that? I won't need to go shopping when I visit. :D What was the point in telling Sky CC was missing? Should he fly back at once? Sky and Win making fun of Prim's ex was funny as hell. One of the few times ad-libbing works because Miko and TJ are professionals. We really couldn't be bothered to do a coherent proper script huh Xion? Or are we renting the equipment by the word, so whatever is said in one take we just print that? Anyway. Sky and Win bonding at the massage was good. Fifth's and Zeke's end scene was nice. Zeke recounting how Fifth found him was positive, but did it have to end on "To be continued. The end?????" While not the worse production from the Philippines, its fellow Oxin drama Rainbow Prince might just take that award, with just a drama student reviewing and tightening up the script we could have had an epic gem here! The characters are good (except the cringe-fem ones), the acting is not bad, the basic story has some merit, and the location scouting is on point.
One question is at the back of my mind though: Did Ben (of Ben X Jim) end up as a Thai chef with the new name of Win when he disappeared in B X J Forever?
Finally, finally, a Thai workplace that's not 100% toxic! The owner was very fair in dealing with sexual harassment and nonperforming employees, especially as they were his family. I really appreciate complex characters and none are more so than Uea. I really loved his relationship with his sister not being poisoned by his mother. I would have liked more background for King though. For the least, we could have seen him being in love with Uea since they met in college which would lead to him wanting to settle down with him. Uea and King seemed to have used King's apartment more. Uea's apartment is way better, bigger, and has a better kitchen and furnishings. It's also more central, being near the main Skytrain station :D
I will probably watch this, but...Are we seriously going to have another "Chukchuk is missing" story? I couldn't…
I think misplacing Chuckchuck is not a side story, but the sitter actually loses the Producer's dog during shooting and everyone goes batty to get him back :D

Traffic cam? Alien ship from UMG? Telepathic magic? Plot contrivance?
The story is good, the characters interesting, but Xion needs to stay far, far away from directing!

This was just pure epic fan service! Adding that bit of Towson and Por was just genius!
