Finished it. I loved it. All I can say for the ending for anyone who was caught unaware is that it says season 1 prominently on all the trailers and at the beginning on every episode 😅 And this one actually ends the current seasons story completely, has a "The End" end card, and THEN has the follow-up season 2 lead-in scene so of you don't want to worry about a possible no season 2 or whatever just turn it off when it says THE END.

They address it in the first episode as the most vague dream ever in a show to the point it doesn't even matter lol. "I don't know if the past was a dream or If the present is a dream". And then a few more "maybe we're dreamings?" have been thrown in almost as throw away lines.

Haven't read the novel but I've been waiting for this one since it was filming and saw the stills 😍 So much for going to sleep 😅

7: No thoughts, I honestly thought while emotional it was dumb.
8: The guards vs investigators (yawn) masked dude reminds me of the character Miles Wei played in White Cat Legend ALSO heading the Jinwu Guards in that show. His grandfather needs to remove the same stick that's up the MLs butt and everyone apparently needs to be slapped in that family.
9: So we had the scenes with the actual town looking super bland but the Ghost Market at least looked okay. Persian Witch lady made me roll my eyes during her scene but overall I liked it.
10: Transformation complete and now he knows for sure. Snorted during the ML/FL as "aunt" scene it was beyond dumb, my threshold for humor is low.
11: Our girl's an entrepreneur now and getting that bag as well as pulling ones over on the ML. She wants an apology. He's oblivious since he didn't do anything wrong. I loved the bit where he was obviously jealous of the guy she couldnt name or describe to.him but who shes looking for so earnestly.
12: I'm hoping our accountant shopkeeper is ACTUALLY a good person. I loved how both girls snuck in separately to see what Shang looked like without the mask only to find he even sleeps with it on.

Okay so I'm now caught up again. In my opinion it's still inconsistent between episodes. Vibey, non-spoiler guide: 7 was emotional but slow. 8 was honestly weird and I watched half of it last night and the rest today because I was uncomfortable. 9 was pretty dramatic and held my interest. 10 was more comedy and I ended up snorting up the food I was eating during one scene. 11 was a bit of a mix of silliness and seriousness. 12 reintroduced a new character and she made the entire episode worth it.

If you're not there for any of it, plot or actors I'd say don't bother. I'm caught up and liking it but it's probably a 7/7.5 right now and I specifically liked the idea of the changing and the face blindness.

They did and it's absolutely going to be a thing in this show because the reason he has the face blindness is he was hit in the head while saving her from a child marriage by bandits it seemed like.

I'm sad it's over like that. I thought it was pretty good overall despite a bunch of plotholes that never got explained lol.

I personally think it does though it honestly seems like it's going to be a "turn off your brain and don't question anything" type show even when it is more serious. They've already had one and a half heart-to-heart conversations. His to her doesn't count imo. Eps 1-3 seem to be played at being funny but then the tone changes mid ep 3 I think it was.

Same, I almost fell asleep during the 1st ep trying to figure out what was happening but by the end of 6 I was like "Come on! Next Please!"

Finished the first 6 eps. My thoughts are that the episodes so far get better the more you watch. I personally didn't mind the silliness of the transformation scene but the show absolutely seems to be on a more serious overall tone than that 2nd episode would indicate.

That chick's an idiot leaving the little boy on the sidewalk so she can go in the store to get the icecream.

As for 2nd ML... great job showing how much you're NOT suited to being a father. Not caring about a kids mental state and instead just blurting out his birth secret like that... 🤬

I suppose it depends on what you're looking for but I just finished the first 8 eps and am loving it. It has a bit of palace intrigue back-biting going on in addition to a political storyline of ML Emperor vs Empress Dowager. Some seem to be calling ML toxic and/or mean but he's basically conflicted with a love-hate relationship for her so far.

🤣 True... It could have had a worse ending. It was just that for over 5 hrs they could have tightened up the plot a bit or even just gone for maybe 30 eps and fleshed it out a tad more either way. Plus the first half was REALLY good and I think that's why I was as disappointed with the with bit as I was.

Everything became so "blink and you miss it", rush from one thing to the next. I saw the final Villain coming but they still made little sense on how everything was hidden for so long. We got throw away plot lines like "drought witch" and 2nd FL seemed to have a head transplant during that part as well. There was the "when did that person get stabbed" part that apparently happened off screen and we all blinked and couldn't tell you what happened to the disciple villian.
