It's also similar to what I said about there being the plothole of why the phone was in the attic in Ep 2 🤣 I can personally fill in my own storyline Possibility that it wasn't a plothole and she left it there because she was leaving the country and remembered she had the phone still and wanted to leave it "just in case he ever came back" since it was originally his dad's.... but that's 100% me putting that together to make it make sense. 😅

I think I see what the issue is... the one year "spacing" between Past, Present and Future parties only matters with the phone. They can "exist" up to one second apart from each other in my head lol. So Past WZQ has control over knowledge up to the day Present WZQ is living which would in theory be March 2, 2025. This is also why it's so vague as to say "one year later" rather than specify a date for his scene imo. YX comes back to China anywhere between Jan 1st and March 2nd 2025. Past WZQ get the knowledge that she's back but doesn't make up his mind to do anything yet. (Because if he HAD already met up with her Present WZQ would know and they'd be together), so Present WZQ meets up with her and then it's assumed that Past WZQ will meet up with her also when that day arrives for him.

🤣 Let me put it to you this way... It's more concrete than Bright Eyes In The Darks ending, but it DOES require having actually paid attention to the tiny details they put in throughout the show and "possibly" a rewatch. A lot of people like things at surface level (usually me too 🤣) so it becomes confusing when the show has to carefully stitch scenes together and not show dates (after showing dates consistently) and start talking about "dreams" in a time travel show.

95% of what you're saying is exactly what I'm saying also about who made the phone call and who threw the phone (the "Present" WZQ that we have been following the whole show)

The difference we're having is why he said 2 years and the ripple effect. He said 2 years so that if she actually followed directions Future WXQ would be able to basically immediately go look for her and he'd only have to wait a year. As for New Past WZQ needing to wait 2 whole years, Present WZQ doesn't know how long it will take to clear everything up in the new timeline so wants to be safe and knows he'll wait.

The major issue is that it says "One Year Later" while under the scene for the Past WZQ, which is splitting the scenes of Present WZQ throwing the phone and saying thise words you mentioned and then Present WZQ making the reservation for the B&B (YXs scene).

But under the "One Year Later" banner with Past WZQ scene where he is in the car then mistaking someone for YX then having the conversation about being afraid she's moved on, Ni Ning says "This is all the information from the past year about Yuan Xia. Though you have never talked to us about it in this past year, Xing Nan and I both know how much you care about her."

Could your interpretation be right? Absolutely. They are deliberately vague with everything in this episode because of censorship. All I'm saying in my interpretation, since the WZQ that was on the balcony and then threw the phone on the beach is wearing the EXACT same clothes as the one that makes the reservation and goes to meet YX, the director is telling us no time passed for him and the middle scene is to explain WHY he knew she was in China and not abroad like she "should be". 🙂

Yes, they end up together. The confusion comes from the way the last episode is structured due to censorship but it's absolutely a HE.

It's possible that it could be 2026 but that would negate the very end scene saying they got married in July 2025.
The reason I believe it to still be 2025 is that we have the scene with him on the balcony the there is the cut to the OTHER WZQ with the Vague "One year later" but no date, it didn't need a date, it's just one year later for new Past WZQ. His scene happens and it cuts back to the Present WZQ wearing the exact same clothes but now with the knowledge that YX is back in China and where she's located since it's already been shown that when Present WZQ did something Future WZQ would have the memory so it would logically follow that if PAST WZQ learns about YX Present would have that knowledge.

As for her being told to leave and not return for 2 years 🤣 She seems to be REALLY bad at following through with leaving and staying out of the country in every timeline so... 😅

That was also my first thought! That having one or two more calls between them before "leave the phone" would have given time to have Brother explain a couple things... Maybe something like "Hello, this is your upstairs neighbor, do you remember me?" "Brother! Of course I do!..." "Please listen as my signal is bad, I'm going to make a couple of calls over the next few days at this time. In the meantime, Resign and yadda yadda..."

Then the show call morphing to another call with different clothes, and again as they talk... until "Now I need you to do one last thing before you leave for Paris, drop the phone off in the attic".

Present WZQ knows the phone is in the attic because HE is the one that called her and told her to leave it, not "future" 2025 WZQ who was originally making the calls. The phone only works 1 year in the past so his clothes merely signify that she's dead in his current timeline and he's grieving.

As for how the phone originally got in the attic the FIRST time when 2025 WZQ goes to get it, yes that seems to be a plothole that was handwaved away. She "originally" figured out he was Brother and intended to give him the phone (the "gift" referred to) when she showed up at the engagement party but instead it makes its way to the attic?

You're also right, the Xi Lin part of the new 2024 timeline makes no sense as he shows up to the board meeting saying that he's taken Zhao down and Xi Kun and Xi Lin are next but it's not exactly explained how he would know. They had alluded to YX having helped by turning over info after resigning but it had nothing to do with the Xis. As for the butterfly effect, that's how come "2025" WZQ and after the phonecall "Present" WZQ get their "memory shards" of what actually happened vs what they experienced happening so it also wouldn't make sense for PAST WXQ to have knowledge about the future in his memories.

The reason YX would have memories rationalized as dreams is because her memories were rearranged when she popped back into existence in "Present" timeline... But PAST WZQ never touched the phone or interacted with it at all so plothole.

I wrote out a pretty thorough explanation of the last episode to try and help as a post above this. Maybe it will make you less confused? 🙂

YX is dead again so PRESENT WZQ waits out the time, missing her but knowing he's got one last shot for HIM to fix everything at the year marker. In March he goes to her grave and calls the one in the past March 2nd 2024 using the identity of Brother since originally 2025 WZQ took several times to convince her and Present WZQ doesn't want to chance anything.

Ep 2 shows that the phone was originally left on the table in the attic (I think this might be a slight plot hole since I don't remember it explaining why she would have left) and he picks it up March 1st 2025 since she breaks her phone that day in the car accident. He gets through to her on March 3rd 2024 when she's in the hospital.

This gave PRESENT WZQ a one day window over 2025 WQZ. He knows it worked because the tombstone disappeared and he has the memories of the past year now in his head.

Cue seeing PAST WZQ dealing with things as originally without having to worry about YX but ALSO that she doesn't come back unexpectedly having finally figured out that HE is brother. (Again it's basically a minor plothole that she wouldn't put it together in the new past timeline but they have to end the loop somehow and adding the bit about the phone call being FROM Brother was probably how they figured it'd work. Like maybe she remembered the really odd call she had to make a year after being told by his dad and then put it together with what's going on with HER call - like I said though, minor and hand-wavey for a HEA.)

PRESENT WZQ is now in 2025 and retrieves the phone from the attic along with the new note that wasn't there before and jar of stars. He then (cut to other next scene then back) makes a reservation for the B&B YX now owns and goes to meet her.

HE knows she's there because of the scene in the middle of PAST WZQ longing for YX and having the conversation about her coming back to the country and being single since he'd been afraid to know anything about her nit Ni Ning kept tabs. That's the end of PAST WZQ but the assumption is that he will not be able to hold out and like PRESENT WZQ will go meet up with her again starting their relationship.

PRESENT YX is now in a state of having been through the main PRESENT timeline but also not having actual experiences of any of that happening so her mind tells her it's all a dream and processes it as such since her current reality says it didn't happen. Cue the scene of them meeting again by the water and repeating words she would have only had in her dreams, confirming it happened and them hugging. (If she didn't have ANY connection to past PRESENT events she wouldn't have those emotions having left when and how she did, an overworked assistant to someone playing an arrogant and flamboyant playboy role.)

Now for the LAST SCENE. This one was carefully shot to make the while show pass censors as the EASIEST explanation is - the whole show was a dream he had, end of story.

But if you look at clues and connect dots, this would be FUTURE 2025 WZQ's scene. He wakes up and has to process AGAIN everything going through is memories and is reassured when YX walks in that she's alive. As they've shown a few times though, he's DEEPLY traumatized by the whole ordeal since he has so many memories in his head if not being able to save her and reaches out for any and everything tangible to remind himself she's still alive and they're married/together now. The last shot proves he's still obsessed with recreating memories that are in his head to have the tangible proof it happened and the wedding date at the end shows that PRESENT WZQ didn't take long at all to marry YX since they ended up being married July 14th 2025.

My take on the last episode after rewatching multiple scenes and parts...

If you're talking about the VERY last part of the scene with the photo wall coupled with his "I had a dream" comment, it was probably added in as a nod to censors and can be interpreted as "it was all a dream he had" OR that even after they got back together he 2025 WZQ went and again recreated his memories so he could have tangible evidence of what had happened before again. After all, like she said, no one just keeps their wedding certificates under their pillows like he does. But he's now dealing with internalized TRAUMA, especially the part with all her things disappearing before his eyes so he can kinda be forgiven his idiosyncrasies.
I took HER comment of something missing and having dreams to mean that even though he changed her timeline there were still fragments out there in spacetime so she knew something was missing and wrong and her dreams were how she could work through it.
So, did they change the past? That's what the entire drama is about so yes and in the end he had all his memories of their time fighting to change the past that DID change AND the new current timeline. If you're taking it a step further then 2025 WZQ (the one at the very end) has ALL the memories of EVERY timeline and every one of her deaths which would be why he's a bit messed up.
