Obviously I'm in the minority but I didn't mind Xiu Ming's screen time since I felt it was used to wrap up what was happening in the Heavenly Realm. That mixed with the clear ending of FL properly descending to the Mortal Realm and finding ML and I'm as satisfied as I feel I can be.
OMG, that Acupuncture points scene on Episode 3, lol 😂...
It needs to go down as one of the best things I've seen in a drama recently. I'd try to describe it for anyone reading the comment but nothing I'd say would make sense unless you've seen it for yourself 🤣
Based on the first 6 episodes this seems to be really good so far. I'm not entirely sure how they got that description though as she's not a web-toon blogger or livestreamer in any way so far though she does seem to do painting on the side.
If I had to rewrite the synopsis based on these episodes I'd say:
Xiao Jing travels back 200 years to the year 2223 in search of a now extinct plant that can cure his dying sister. In the present he assumes the identity of Xiao Jing from the current timeline, a doctor, researcher and teaching assistant for a Chinese Medicine Teaching University.
Song Yi Ju has always been able to get her grandfather's research student Xiao Jing to follow along with her plans, doing what she wants and allowing her to slack off from her studies in class. Suddenly though she notices that he seems like a different person lately as he thwarts her every attempt. No longer will he write her sick notes or help her cheat, now he's assigning her extra homework, throwing away all their junk food for health food, and even giving her a 9pm curfew.
When Xiao Jing finds out he accidentally traveled into the past three months too early will he be able to survive his time with Song Yi Ju?
Cute enough of a watch when watching on 1.5x speed but anything slower makes this drag. Abrupt transitions make it seem more like a 10 min short drama than an almost full length one. Finally, there are many unresolved questions surrounding her dad since he seems to have known about Shen Mingxi before learning about him per the scene where she's leaving the house in the rain.
Would have been funny if they'd added in a bit about the number of flashbacks the ML and FL were constantly having. Add in a bit more meta that way... lmao
I swear most of the time for break-up tropes I just want to hit one or both of the characters but this time I just don't have it in me... he KNOWS she would never give up on him willingly but he also knows that not only is the company her dream, she has multiple people depending on her for their livelihoods as well. 😭😭😭
How can this drama have a score of 8.0? It’s downright childish and the special effects not so special! On the…
Honestly haven't watched Devine Destiny but as for why it might have a lower score currently it has just under 400 ratings on here whereas this one has just under 1200. A lower rating weighs more when there are less ratings so if the drama really is that good as you're saying it should increase the more people watch it. Likewise I could still see this one going down a bit more over time, maybe to 7.8.
So did they sleep together in episode 1 or just kiss? I though it was only a kiss but the hospital results in…
Lol there wasn't enough time for them to sleep together even if the ML was that type of guy since he literally spent the entire night cleaning up after her repeatedly throwing up.
It's pretty common when you go to the hospital as a female to have a pregnancy test done because until they determine that they may not be able to prescribe proper treatment and in early stages not everyone would already know.
But when she didn't know what the term was and had to look it up just to find out it was a pregnancy test of course he was going to take that opportunity to tease her.
Is this connected to the first part in a way that they somehow find out they knew each other in their past life?…
It can absolutely be seen as two separate shows. Because of censorship the FL doesn't specifically remember her past life like she apparently does in the book. Instead she works as a dubber and feels an inate resonance with the story One and Only that she's dubbing and the characters within it. At one point in the early episodes she goes to the tower where she jumped in OaO and has a sense of deja vue but the clothes are apparently slightly different. ML has no connection to the past other than his name and portrays his character in a VERY different manner from OaO almost to the point of wondering if it's actually the same actor.
The only other thing I've seen the leads in was a reality show "Real Actor" and although still plenty of room…
Haven't watched anything else with the FL but Xie Bin Bin in Party A Who Lives Beside Me was pretty good overall. Was also MangoTV though and didn't get picked up anywhere else to find better subs though.
I feel like in most shows the ending falls flat when compared to the beginning. In this show It's really the opposite, if anything you get a bit of mystery to peak your interest at the very beginning and then a loooong winding and slow moving story that then hits you almost out of nowhere with feelings and deeper meanings behind everything. It almost demands a rewatch as soon as you finish just to try and pick up what you now know from the beginning.
That said though, because the story was so disjointed to a degree on first watch and the romantic feelings between the FL and the ML are really only present in flashbacks since the link between emotion and memory had been cut, it's hard to truly give full stars.
If rating based on episodes: 8 for ep1-4.25, 6 for ep 4.25-8.5, 8 for ep 8.5-11, 9 for ep 12&13.
When he was confessing and kissing in the hospital... I don't know why but i kept thinking a nurse might pop out…
Sigh, yes there have been too many times when false kisses happen in a drama that it's almost expected to have someone randomly walk in and be like : "Sir, what are you doing out of your room? You have a concussion" just as he's leaning down to kiss her.
"Why are you wearing a white scarf Grandma?"
"I want you to remember me."
