On The Next Prince Jun 5, 2025
TNP Episode Reaction

I'll lead with the most important information from this video just in case you don't want to read my entire post. Episode 6 is going to be a pivotal episode where they reveal the background of all the main characters. Presumably this is going to answer a lot of questions like the history of Ramil and Paytai, what happened while Khanin and Charan were on their way back to Emmaly and the history of the four regional princes. So if you've been bored by the lack of action this is probably the episode for you.

The actors recapping Episode 6 will be the fathers and the king. None of the other cast members will be present.

The cast present for the Episode 5 reaction video were Zee, NuNew, Jimmy and Ohm. NuNew is wearing a very cool SuperSun T-shirt.

My comments will be limited to reactions. So this won't make any sense if you haven't seen the episode.

The princes gathering before seeing the king. Lots of comments about each other's outfits. Ohm (Paytai) says he's a no one who has to follow the prince. He's just a follower with no rights.

Meeting with the King and Opening credits.

Morpeus University. NuNew says if the professor (Charan) was that hot he wouldn't be able to focus. Jay (JJ) is walking with his friend and gets a nosebleed. Ohm asks why is he bleeding? NuNew wonders is he sick or does he have health problems? Zee replies there are reasons, but he doesn't elaborate on what those reasons are.

Net shows up and they make a plug for Love Upon a Time (upcoming NetJJ series). Ceremony before the filming will be on September 13th.

Chakri giving Khanin a history lesson, and the chase! NuNew said this scene took many takes. Zee said the chase scene reminded him of Tom and Jerry.

At Morpheus University after Khanin shows up. Zee said that Charan is more comfortable in his role as a professor at Morpheus than as a royal guard. (Big surprise). A lot of joking about who was the most handsome in this scene.

Flashback (?) of Ramil and Paytai in bed. NuNew says isn't this too much? Jimmy hugs Ohm while the scene is running. They argue about whether or not this was the first kiss of the series or if the pocky kiss was. NuNew says that Khanin and Charan's kiss was an accident but Ramil and Paytai kissed on purpose. Ohm replies Ramil and Paytai have been close since they were young. Jimmy adds that once Khanin and Charan become close they will beat them anyway.

Scene in Charan's office with Khanin. Khanin is really jealous when Charan says he had a special class with Paytai.

Khanin and Chakri sketching the apple. We don't get to see Chakri's sketch but everybody said it was hilarious. Nu said others were sketching an apple but Chakri drew everything. The table, and everything around the model, but the apple was tiny. Nu said he was fighting diarrhea while filming this scene. I know TMI.

Charan in his studio. Zee says he got 18 filler injections in his chest for this scene. They do joke around so hopefully this isn't true. NuNew says only a rich person can do that. Zee said this is the scene that shows his feelings about Khanin have become serious. He started thinking about Khanin when he drew the apple and had to keep himself from falling deeper, because there's no room for heart and duty.

Back in the studio with Paytai. This is the scene where Ramil drags Paytai out of the studio. NuNew asks isn't this too much jealousy, and says "wow" as Ramil pushes Paytai into the column.

Dog collar in the car. Scene is blurred out in this video. Zee wanted to wear the dog collar. NuNew said it was hot and he can't watch it. Zee said the kiss shook their heads and it was an angry kiss. Each character has its own shade of gray.

Khanin loses his fencing coach. Jimmy says the coach's face wasn't shown in the scene because the story hasn't been told yet.

Khanin asks the king to allow Charan to be his fencing coach. Zee asks NuNew why he didn't just ask the king directly and Nu replied he had to be strategic or his grandfather would be suspicious.

Charan agrees to be Khanin's fencing coach. Zee said Charan is finally back on Khanin's side now. He's got to take care of him and teach him.

Charan with his butler in the art studio. Charan hears from the investigator who sends him a picture of Thatdanai. NuNew says Dad's alive. Zee replies maybe it's someone who looks like him (but I don't think so).

Annoying ad for nose inhalers. Needs to be made into a drinking game. In fact all the ads do. You could get quite drunk.

Charan beats Khanin fencing. Jimmy says he really likes this scene because it's one of the scenes that makes Charan express his emotions.

Final thoughts.

NuNew: this episode was more intense and we know what to do to seize the throne. The rest is nothing new. Just me following a guy.

Jimmy: You guys are like the characters in the series right? We don't have so many people we can trust. Just one or two. For Ramil, it's just one. Besides Charan, who does Khanin trust?

NuNew: Charan, Chakri.

Jimmy: Who else?

NuNew: he doesn't trust his father yet. They haven't spent that much time together. No one else I guess.

Jimmy: What about Thatdanai?

NuNew: He's the one Khanin trusted the most, but he's gone now.

Zee: Speaking of this Charan doesn't trust anyone either.

Jimmy: He's been all alone?

Zee: Right. His mom passed away (means the scene with his mom will be a flashback) and he just follows the King's orders. But yeah, that episode hasn't come yet. I don't want to spoil it. So he's living alone.

Ohm. That's sad.

Jimmy: what about Paytai?

Ohm: That's like Charan. Maybe just Ramil. I don't want to say too much. I want the story to unfold layer by layer.

Jimmy: The background stories of us all will be revealed in the next episode.

Zee: each episode will have revelations.

The end . This episode was short only 45 minutes.

the people claiming that paytai is being forced into something he doesnt want are clearly watching a different…
The history tells us he was forced. But I just watched the reaction video of Zee, NuNew, Jimmy and Ohm of episode 5. They blurred the dog collar scene, so if you didn't see the episode on IQIYI you wouldn't even know what you were looking at.

Jimmy and Ohm were way too embarrassed to say anything about the sex scene, and Jimmy's only reaction was "wow" when he threw Paytai against the pole before they went to the car.

Zee mumbled something about gray areas but none of them were willing to make any significant comments on the entire scene.

The only useful commentary we got about it was that episode 6 was going into everyone's background and we will have more insight into the writers intent. My guess is they're going to try and sweep the abuse under the rug because they know nothing about grooming or BDSM.

Zee said that in the next episode it's the fathers only that will be doing the episode reaction. I assume that will include Saksit Tangthong (Thatdanai).

I plan on writing something about the rest of the reaction to episode 5 in a separate post a little later on.

You know that they won't opt to fast forward. They're worried that they might miss something they will probably…
It's no more a gray area than anyone who was brought up in a fundamentalist Mormon compound and sold to some ugly old guy.

It's shocking that so many people here don't see the parallel. Hopefully the writers do.

There's a difference between not liking it and not liking the fact that people in these comments are saying it's consensual when Paytai was groomed to live in abuse as a kid. This isn't love and this isn't romance. It just needs to be called what it is, abuse.

There's an opportunity here to treat this relationship seriously for what it is. And I hope the writers will do that although I'm not optimistic that they will.

Pretty early after Charan was forced to tell Khanin that his father was dead he started investigating what happened…
First of all Charan didn't have enough information to tell the king he didn't think he was right about Thatdanai's demise although he certainly had enough reason to be really suspicious. However showing his cards at that point would not have served either him or Khanin In finding out exactly what happened. And he had to tell Khanin that his father had died in front of the king. So he didn't have an opportunity to tell Khanin that at the very least he wasn't convinced that was actually his father's body in the burned building.

And telling Khanin his suspicions later without any information would have just made his grieving worse. At the end of episode 5 Charan has just had the first sighting of Thatdanai alive, and I'm sure if he doesn't wind up in Emmaly at the beginning of episode 6 he will tell Khanin what he discovered.

Right now I think that Khanin is focused on finding out the truth about his father, and making sure he takes his fencing seriously so that he will continue to have access within the palace. There's plenty of time later for him to get answers to any questions that he has about his bio family.

I don't agree with the uninteresting part Just the abuse part masquerading as BDSM.
Plus in this particular instance Paytai was groomed in an abusive environment as a kid. Once your groomed you really can't consent as an adult.

I haven't seen most of the BL's that people talk about like Kinn Porsche but I did see Tharn Type and there was definitely abuse there when Tharn makes unwanted advances on Type while he's in the shower. I completely don't understand how anybody thinks that is sexy.

I would love to like Khanin, but I really have trouble understanding him or relating to him. Which is a shame,…
Pretty early after Charan was forced to tell Khanin that his father was dead he started investigating what happened to him and Khanin was in the loop.

So he knew one way or another he was going to get closure on this and he also knew that he couldn't trust the palace for the truth. He couldn't even be sure that his father was really dead.

As far as Khanin's biological father goes he is isn't interested in any of that. He's not even interested in helping his bio father become the next king. His only reason for being in Emmaly is to find out what happened to the father who raised him. I'm guessing he will be making an appearance in the next episode or episode very soon in the future.

Khanin has no power at all unless he uses the contest to stay in Emmaly, and that's why he is training for the contest.

I think it was the coach that he picked when Chakri presented him with the choices.
No a fencing dummy, looks just like a dress form that seamstresses use.

NuNew and Zee have only starred together in one series, and that is Cutie Pie, unless you consider Cutie Pie 2 a separate series.

TNP is a slow burn romance. But they have at least as much chemistry as they have in Cutie Pie.

They have both said that once the romance takes off it will be legions more steamy than Cutie Pie, which makes sense because they barely knew each other when they filmed Cutie Pie. I was pretty surprised that they were as comfortable as they were in intimate scenes that long ago.

What we do know is that Ramil's father procured all of the fencing coaches. So that would have included The one that Khanin selected. From Khanin's expression I assume that the coach who showed up that day was the same one.

Edit. I don't know any more than you know about the actor. I don't think any of the fencing coaches have a credit. As far as the comment about the dummy, Ramil was telling Khanin to fence with the dummy because he didn't have a coach. If you notice in earlier episodes Khanin did practice with a dummy in London.

He doesn't have a credit but if it's mentioned in his Instagram he might have a cameo that didn't even rate being listed as a guest.

I don't really think Jimmy and Ohm are great actors, but even so, the guy playing Paitay makes it super clear…
Very few can. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Nope. You don't have to agree with me. But there's logic and there's opinion that isn't based on logic. The latter seems to comprise most of the comments here anyway, so welcome to the group.

I have no idea what the writers intend. In this one area they don't seem to have really thought through.

But if you look at it logically, how whipping boys are attained and at what age, there is no room for a gray area.

Kids put into abusive situations are groomed to accept them. Very few will ever try to escape. So the logic is that Paytai was groomed as a child and therefore has no ability to consent as an adult.

But the discussion isn't about whether we have an emotional connection to the well-being of the characters in TNP.

The only subject up for discussion is whether or not we can reasonably say that this was BDSM as opposed to abuse. And it's pretty clear from many angles that this is abuse and not consensual sexual nor lifestyle behavior

First of all "toxic/questionable BDSM Dynamics" is not BDSM at all it's abuse.

Secondly I haven't brought up the grooming aspect of all of this before and I should have.

Paytai has been brought up with Ramil since he was a little kid and they were educated together. This is no different than being brought up in a fundamentalist Mormon cult and sent off to be one of dozens of wives to an old man.

When you are brought up like this you obey to survive. It's called Stockholm Syndrome.

When the Warren Jeff's compound was raided he had almost 80 wives and only a few ever escaped. So yes some people do leave under great peril but it is more common to either try to adjust or cower and try to survive. It does not mean they consented.

None of the scenes in the trailer are part of the series. They were just made to interest investors so they could…
That's why I brought up lifestyle BDSM known as total power exchange. I actually spent a year corresponding with someone who wrote the seminal book on it.

Even he said abuse is much more common in this extreme lifestyle of which he was a participant. He said he harbored many women who escaped the situation for their personal safety.

Getting back to TNP Paytai is a whipping boy and was brought up and educated along with Ramil since he was little kid.

There wasn't any opportunity for him to consent. I think we can agree that a little kid can't consent to anything,

So here he is as an adult performing his function as a person to get beaten when Ramil misbehaves. Looks like physical abuse to me (and emotional abuse to Ramil).

This kind of upbringing didn't exactly make Ramil into a mentally healthy human, He exerts physical control over Paytai to get him to acquiesce to his desires.

If he wasn't a total slave he would be allowed some autonomy in some corner of his life and all we've seen is him having no choices, looking really unhappy and terrified, even in the sexual part of their relationship. So on planet Earth that constitutes abuse to me.

Edit. And I forgot to add the whole grooming aspect of the situation. He isn't much different than a Warren Jeff's bride who was brought up in the lifestyle and foisted on an old man at the age of 12. When you are brought up in the abuse you no longer have the ability to consent. It's the equivalent of Stockholm Syndrome.

There was a huge amount of violence against Paytai. If it was BDSM and there was consent (even non-verbal consent) he would have been happy about getting beaten, he wouldn't have been overridden about his choice to attend an art class. He wouldn't have gotten thrown into a pole and look terrified. Even in the car with the collar he looked terrified. And his face was wet from crying both of those times.

Most BDSM is not lifestyle but even where it is the slave has the option to leave. From what we can see Paytai has no autonomy, and if the writers are trying to make this into a situation later on where he does, they're going about it completely the wrong way.

I can forgive inaccuracies in most things but not in this especially when it can't be construed as anything else but abuse.

And FWIW, I don't care what other people do in their bedrooms. I don't even care if a couple walks down the street while one wears a dog collar. It's not for me but I don't judge as long as they are not being forced. No pearl clutching was involved here or needed.
