yup. Even if viewer hasn't read the novel or watched the manghua, that point is mentioned in the drama itself.

long before i read about some scriptwriter critic against this drama and AvenueX ranting her thoughts... I was thinking to myself that this drama kickstarted well because of the perfect fit casted for the little witty character, a 14-yr who's supposed to look small and young and not her actual 14 years of age in the drama. So, i believe that's why the 10-yo Zhang Xiwei was chosen for the role. This show wouldn't have appealed to me that much if it's been played by any other child actress.

Also, Zhao Lusi is THE perfect fit for the teenager Zhi Zhi going into adulthood. Can't think of anyone else befitting for the role.

As for the storyline, for goodness' sake, we're in digital age and 21st century! What ethical issue or impactful effect is there that may have on our future leaders that these Antis are rallying for the show to be put down? There are much worse shows with bad morale issues out there, easily accessible by any intentional kid...
