Please tell me why every higher up ( Queen, Concubines, King's sons, etc) are so nice and helpful. I'm not very…
well... since @Amaterasu Omikami had earlier listed some "evil intentions & plots" but which by your definitions are weak and not up to your standard set benchmarked against Yanxi, Weiyoung & Yinglou, i guess you can either drop this or hold off till finale.
As hinted in its synopsis, Court Lady is mainly focused on how Fu Rou wards off harm from enemies and overcome obstacles in her path. It's not about her revenge or Chumu's, so you won't see them to be plotting any scheme like in Yanxi. On this note, how could the schemes be cruelly evil?! Cos, if it is, the screenwriter would have to come up with many great but acceptable counter moves for ML/FL to tackle and survive from these harmful attacks in a 55-long drama.
Also, as given in synopsis, both Chumu and Rou'er walked paths that DON'T often cross. So, it'll probably be in the Finale finale before their paths ever come to a meeting point! <@_@>
huh, who are the "so nice & helpful"? Were you being sarcastic? Or did you really think they're nice & helpful?…
Hmmm... i've watched a fair share of palace dramas and know what you're referring to. TBH, CL is not very well written in some parts but the plots and storyline are still aptly interesting...
But i won't compare CL with Yanxi. That Yanxi story is about a maid turned consort fending off jealous queen, concubines and consorts. Here in CL, FL helped turned around each adversity. How cruel and evil is considered TRULY disastrous?
IMO, Yanfei could even be slowly poisoning the queen... Twists of fate, cruelty? Is the loss of a consort's life and the long separation of ML/FL not cruel enough?
Framing? Guess you haven't reached #38 yet...
FL not struggling enough? Easiest time? Didn't she crack her head and wits to avoid harm on herself/friends by evil doers every other episode?
That was my feeling too when I first started this drama. The idea of a palace drama with no scheming seemed farfetched…
LOL, do palace dramas need to include openly evil plots scheming amongst royal family in order to be interesting? In Court Lady, schemes are hidden under fake and pretentious front. By the time Furou realised it, it's too late.

the Queen here is not seen evil cos her son is already the Crown Prince and need not plot against anyone (yet). On the surface, Prince Zhou's mother YanFei is seen harmless and living her peaceful life but actually she's quite devilish - she casually passed a remark to insinuate something that happened was due to queen's mistake. She didn't jump on the chance mtg with Xinan and lover, not because she's nice, but because she knows what is a good opportunity and worth using it and when to use it. Xinan's chance mtg is not worth spoiling her image as a kindhearted soul. Her true colors surfaced in around #39 or 40...
Crown Prince and Prince Zhou are all this while plotting against each other underwater. Zhou pretending to be focusing on literacy and not at all interested in the future kingship when he's actually the most scheming son... Crown Prince & his allies, advisors and consultants are all not as witty as PZ. So, CP is not a match against PZ...
The only ONE harmless soul is Prince Han. Hope he's not too devastated with his loss...

huh, who are the "so nice & helpful"? Were you being sarcastic? Or did you really think they're nice & helpful? Which episode/s make you think that way?! If they appear nice to you, they're probably superficial and you won't know they're pretentious until their true colors are revealed...
As far as the characters in this drama are concerned, all the royalties are involved in scheme/s one way or another, be it defensive scheme to fend off calamities or evil plots to destroy the favoured one/s.
I watched the raws when i made the comment but with the substitles now, it's a bit confusing...
well, he's quite angry with her for even having the slightest thought of abortion during pregnancy. So angry that he left her there. Guess he's expecting her to walk home herself. She's truly in love with her enemy. That's why she was in such a dilemma during pregnancy.
the utmost intention for everything he had done with or for FR is to destroy her FR relationship/ romance with SMC. He appeared caring and understanding towards her, but deep down, he has his side agenda.
Based on the mtg between Yan Zifang and Fu Shui when FS introduced himself as Fù Shuǐ as in "fù shuǐ nán…
From my understand of his self intro in #33 @08:30, he is Chen Ji himself who probably survived his self inflicted wound and now back to take revenge for the execution of his opera troup mates and close friend Xiong Rui.
If Fu shui is Chen Ji's twin brother, why did he not mention to the woman that he was friend of both Chen Ji and Xiong Rui and to avenge their death?
However, i can't remember what Lu Yanqi had done to Chen Ji that Fu Shui wanted to assassinate Lu Qi...

She did nothing to avoid him at all period!
