yeah, there are many such ridiculous scenes in other long and miniseries. I've not come across any perfectly written scripts. We'd wonder how the screenwriters could come up with such scenes, don't we!

Believe this is not a romance wuxia drama. As there's hardly any romancing, you won't find "getting together" or "break-up" arcs.

my preference is police/crime thriller with unrelated cases. But the plot here seems to revolve around the same unit / cause. As i watched Ep. 2, I already guessed the villain.
