Ep. 8 flashback brings us to when RSB and HXM were in their teens. RSB at aged 14 snatched a biz deal from He family. Believe she whipped him and declared to him to seek revenge on her and not her matriarch. If he can't win marriage alliance, then he'll be her "steadfast" enemy.

I thought Yan Bai Luo is shown as quite obvious to be the final villain - pretentious and goody gentleman, always being considerate for others. As for the blind 5th lady, it's shown to us how scheming and manipulative person she is. She chose scholar Bai Ying Sheng because she thinks she can control and manipulate him easily.

well, Yan Bai Luo could be the final villain but if i remember it correctly, Cousin Wen was all uptight about the wedding consummation night, but he looked all good and calm after a night rest and no longer appeared angry or uptight. I know Gentleman Yan is well versed in herbs and healing and could be the one who poisoned Yang Dingchen, but we at this point cannot rule out Wen Can.
Wen's not an idiot in that he's on the right track to expose Lu Fusheng's hidden agenda... He's clever enough to know Fusheng's secret is stashed away in the snacks. Just that Lady Rong already knew his involvement with Yamen and won't expose Fusheng.
