I got some big bones to pick with this series. I stayed only for the DeeDa trajectory and I was hoping they would go through with the pregnancy but they didn't damn it. Okay, alright. The whole gender rules/role allocation for both couple bugged me to no end. Like, welcome to the 21C you show for 21C teenagers. Man, we so could have done without the second couple parallel. So unnecessary. The plot devices to keep them from confessing until the last 5 minutes and the clichéd conflict/resolution and characters drove me crazy. Like hell. And more than anything, the overt Oishi product placement had me doing the face-palm every episode. I started to liken the Oishi drinks to the hemorrhoid cream in Heroin. Like Oishi cures all emotional ailments so does that cream cure all physical ailments. Anyways. Enjoy the drama if you can get past this feedback.

I'm so with you there on Yang Mi's and Dylan's acting. I've really not liked watching Yang Mi and Liu Cecilia on screen - too much hype for the package. Eternal Love was delicious but I got to say that this had more to do with Mark Chao, the directing and the shots. Yang Mi did emote more and interacted with her costars better but I think it was because of the blessing of the above collaborators.

This show is over my head right now. I have absolutely no idea what direction it is going in. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the dream sequence from Miss Go's character. So, although I have not idea where it is heading, I am intrigued by what is to come.

I push back watching for fear of disappointment lol I mean NIF is on another level so to keep up....is it really…
If you compare the two, which you will, then this falls very short of the first.

Perhaps I am hesitant with some of these picks because the actors are being compared to the actors from the movie…
I finally found someone who agrees with me about the P&P mini series vs the movie. I was invited by a former high school friend to see the movie in theatre when it was released. I literally burst out laughing at the most tender moments and ruined the experience for that friend. However, a year back, I had spent a six-hour late night with my roomie devouring the miniseries.

I'm in the minority as well, Andrea. I keep watching this show only because I've already wasted 30+ hours on it.…
No doubt. They are not easy to watch but that is what the remote control is for in my books. :) I would like to suggest 5 Children if you can spare the time. I loved the humor and the pacing was pretty good.

Other than acronyms, could you please not write in caps? I quite understand your meaning without it and it comes across as condescending an insulting when trying to reflect on what you have to share.

So, I didn't realize you were asking why I didn't like the drama.

I liked 5 Kids and number of other shows this length including The Woman Who Married Three Times, Father Is Stranger and others - not in any particular order. Depending on how makjang it is, I may fast forward through episodes here and there, so I can enjoy these types. I think what may be adding to the ratings is that the characters lives are more normalized and I saw a lot of comments with Disqus viewers discussing the characters' reactions to circumstances. This has kept up for the past 10 episodes or so. For sure the hype (if you watched the trailer and red the online chatter up to when the drama aired) on how it would be different was a major factor in the ratings. A lot of people got on the bandwagon to see how they would deal with the clichéd tropes as was promised. Mind you, Korean netizens would have additional reasons for their response to the drama that is culture specific. For myself, other than changing the setting and leaving the relationship conflicts unresolved for most of the time and setting characters off on different trajectories (all very draggy elements), I don't see anything unique about a production that was supposed the be cleverly different(as the trailer and chatter hinted at). Hence, my disappointment. Also, I thought that the show could have dealt with deeper more cohesive themes after the midway point/major conflict but then I started seeing filler episodes 'events'. I thought that SHS had the acting chops to deliver in the second half and that the two MC's could have moved beyond the typical push and pull of dramaland romance, but, it wasn't so. I'll stop here with what is not helpful criticism but only opinion and reaction to the storytelling since I do respect the hard work of those who put their effort into making this drama and those who volunteer to translate it.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Its been rare for me to like American/Canadianshows over the past 5 years so it’s not about what I’m used to or social differences. I’ve been watching kdramas for the past 10 years and though I haven’t been to Korea, I studied the language and culture in uni for two years so I’m quite used to korean and Jdramas themes etc. It’s just my sincere feelings about this drama.

Well you are in a minority LOL This is getting about the best ratings seen in Korea in years LOL Steel yourself…
Okay. It’s the in the minority. That’s fine for you to point out. It is still an opinion on my comment even though you are not being very direct. This is fine as well. This is my last response to you BTW since it seems to be turning into a totally unnecessary banter.

As I recall, Boys Over Flowers had high ratings too. Ratings doesn’t really equate with quality but rather hype. Plus, the first half was okay. I think a lot of viewers are hanging on to see what how the team delivers on their promise. This is where the production fails and I still feel it’s a total let down.

Title Money Flower
You know that stupid element of political/business Korean Melos that have a bunch of people sitting around planning and filling in the audience on info it already knows? This is happening in Money Flower to a certain degree but it also becomes a space for pertinent action/story development. Had to point out that they handled that well. The writing team is thinking and the directing is thoughtful. Most of all, the suspense is refined. It kind of reminds me of Hanzawa Naoki where the character actively responds to the need of the situation and this meaningfully drives the central conflict of the story.

He didn’t change in that way. He was always like that. Remember he stabbed the guy in the first episode and smiled when the blame shifted to PJ?

This show became draggy after the midway point and it hasn’t gotten any better. They promised something different from the usual fare but we were basically given a handful of nothing. Sorely disappointed in this production.

Thanks alot! ;)I think I'm gonna give Fated To Love You another chance because a lot of people said that it's…
I think I'm biased because I saw the Taiwan version a number of years ago and loved Ethan Ruan in the role (and another role for that matter). I also liked what Hang Hyuk brought to the role to be honest. The problem for me was the second lead/brother/daddy long leg story along with her family that annoyed me to death. I love the character of the male lead so much and I felt they were so biased toward him. Without going into too much detail, I feel like these elements spoil what could have been a truly great love story - a story where normal adults actually have sex and kids.
