I wished we had seen more of Jae Won and Jin Hee as a couple or well, starting to date. For how it was so obvious how much they both liked each other, they separated too easily when Jin Hee started off on her journey (which totally came out of the blue btw). Also, Jae Won was a in a big slump before, he said he put up that poster on the wall and wrote down things whenever he wanted to leave. But then why didn't he? At least for part of the journey, I think it would have been fun/made sense for him to accompany Jin Hee, for his own troubles didn't really seem to be resolved. So romance-wise, the show wasn't really satisfying. I also couldn't whole-heartedly root for the mom and dad, because we didn't get enough of their back story in High school and now it just seemed so awkward with Jin Hee in the picture.
This drama is a sweet and short slice of life, sprinkled with a bit of romance, mystery and plenty of comedy. I loved all the characters, especially the FL's besties. I have to say, while I loved the mom in the beginning, her antics in the middle part became somewhat annoying. It's not even her choices or justifications, but how childishly and selfishly she acted at times. The final episode was a bit of a letdown, I really wanted more closure to Jin Hee and Jae Won's story. More under a spoiler. All in all, a decent watch 8/10
I like it, maybe it's because I'm studying for residency, most of the show is accurate, I think people in general…
I'm curious, have you seen Doctor Romantic? While it's mostly focused on emergency medicine and surgeries, it's been always my fav medical drama and I've been wondering how well researched it is. I'm not a medical professional, but to me the cases always looked extremely convincing.
Her friend Gang hun's (the firefighter). But i agree confusing especially since she went gaga over his scent.…
I am actually afraid Kang Hun might be the one to end up with her. I mean, I love him, he's really sweet, but he has more chemistry with SFL, and I don't want ML to end up alone...
Episodes 3 and 4 were a bit better, but still all over the place. The science aspect is really ridiculous, I guess you just really have to think of it as pure comedy. I think i'll put it on hold until it finished airing, though, I have a feeling I'm rooting for the wrong guy....
I'm torn with this. The premise is sort of ridiculous and FL's overacting is hard to watch. Some parts were funny, though, and I love Choi Siwon. I just feel like too much happened in the first two episodes, especially the suicidal patient and that rooftop scene were too dramatic for the beginning of a comedy show. I'm not really invested. Guess i'll see how it goes this weekend and then decide.
I watched up until episode 6 and I enjoyed it mostly. Now I sorta feel like I cannot be bothered to finish, which I guess means I didn't love it after all? It's a cute and short romcom, just nothing really special. And I have to say, Jun Ho is like the most delusional and infuriating 'we're supposed to pity him' SML ever. I cannot believe he has the gall to come back all smiley and expect to get back together with her (wait, even be like 'but we never broke up?!'). Dude, no matter what your circumstances were, you treating her like this was just trashy. You tell her the truth and give her the choice to either wait, or break up, you don't ghost somebody you supposedly love, knowing how much you're actually going to scar them. That means your pride is worth more than the other person. Reminded me of 'Another Miss Oh' in that regard, although there I could understand the reasoning a little bit better. Anyway, guess I'll finish at some point when I need something light.
I really loved actor Ji Seung Hyun in WWW, he had such a difficult role there, also as a "cheating" husband but for a good reason. Is FL's husband here a complete jerk, or is there a possibility of the two patching things up/a misunderstanding somewhere? I don't mind spoilers.
It's acceptable if only the one who's "broken" is just him, not every/most characters in there. Way too much.
I understand a bit better what you mean now, too many things happening at once. Hm, I do agree that the focus isn't enough on ML, especially in ep 4, and the SML/FL scenes were a bit confusing. I still enjoy the show, though, and just hope they find a balance between all the characters and stories. :)
I hope they flesh out Goon's character in further eps, like his struggle between old memories resurfacing and…
I think the lack of chemistry is because she has her guard up against him 100, knowing that he now thinks of her as his first love. I thought their scenes had more chemistry before the character change (albeit not necessarily romantically, there was a lot of tension). But with SML, she just sees him as a patient who needs support, and lets her guard down. I hope her scenes with ML will pick up once she realizes what trash her 'sunbae' doctor is, and ends that crush of hers. I don't agree that Goon is two-dimensional, though. Especially in the first episode, he had a lot of depth to him (besides his weird fixation on his first love...). I think this development is supposed to show that we NEED some bad memories for us to be able to feel deeply and be more than just 2-dimensional happy-go-lucky confident people....

While it's true that styles and techniques change over the years, it doesn't necessarily mean they become better. There are so many excellent dramas from the mid 2010s or even earlier.

Why is it only acceptable for him to be broken? I believe there's not a single person on this planet who doesn't have to fight their demons. Some might do a better job than others, though, and I believe this is what this drama wants to show. On first glance we can tell that ML is an emotional mess, he deserves our sympathy and we root for him to overcome the struggles. What about everyone else, then? We see his parents who're only doting on the 'promising' son; the brother who seems indifferent to his brother's pain; a cold FL striving for perfection... All of them have a story to tell, a reason why they became that way, and I think it is interesting to understand them bit by bit. I'd much rather watch a drama with flawed characters, because it makes them seem 'human'. Nobody's perfect, but nobody's just evil or mean because they want to be. With exceptions of course. This drama here cannot hold a candle to some other psychological dramas I've seen, but one of my favorites still is and will always be 'It's okay, it's love'. I recommend it if you want a drama that deals with trauma and healing.
I don't understand all the hate for this drama. I've only watched two episodes, but so far I really like it. The premise is quite interesting (albeit a bit unrealistic in execution) and it's quite funny, too, especially after he changes so drastically into narcissist lol I am also warming up to the family characters that I strongly disliked in the beginning and the buildup to what actually happened on the day of the accident is engaging. Lastly, the MLs acting is phenomenal. In the first episode we see the self-loathing, the broken man he has become after all the pain he went through - to a complete 180 in the second episode where he just oozes confidence. And that flashback scene at the dinner table on the night of the accident nearly had me in tears. I hope the drama holds its momentum, but so far a definite recommendation!
agreed on all accounts, although I think 8 is still too generous for this. My main issue was with the writing and the non-existent justification for the queen's big bad plan that was supposed to unfold over the course of decades and whose primary victims were the innocent crown prince and princess, for whatever nonsensical reason. The really evil people never got what they deserved (not from her anyway), even though she continuously cursed at her 'uncle'. And as you said, they seemed to lack the resources to portray Byeokcheon as what it was supposed to be. All in all, it was just really poorly written, despite the good premise.
I finally finished this drama. I have to say I somewhat lost interest halfway. Not saying the second half was…
What I hated most about the writing in this drama was that near the end it became clear that there was absolutely NO motive or reason for that whole ghost letter thing, which was supposed to be one of the driving matters in the story. The queen trying to get revenge by marrying the king, making her 'Song's son sit on the throne and have her people return to their hometown sounds laughable when you realize it would take DECADES for it to even happen. The grand prince is 10 years old, so even if he were to become king one day, it could take another ten or twenty years, considering the king is actually in good health and the prince is still a child. So the whole plotting against the crown prince to depose him loses all meaning, ESPECIALLY considering he was never anything but kind and supportive of both the queen AND the grand prince. The queen and her people talk about justice and whatnot, but they kill countless innocent people, try to assassinate the grand princes siblings (even if not related by blood), and then say it's for the greater good. And the people who were actually responsible for the tragedy (the Jo clan's officials) kept having the time of their lives lol. Had the queen wanted revenge, she could have easily persuaded the king to reinvestigate, since he truly loved and respected her, she could have gotten help from the crown prince instead of trying to ruin him and end the 'uncle' for treason and whatnot. Geez, what dumb reasoning. And then, to top it off, WHO would chose INSANITY over death of their own free will? Makes absolutely no sense. Aaaaand one last thing, even though there's more that annoys me, I am not sure it's actually a happy ending. The prince/king tells her to come with him to the palace, but she lost her parents and she was betrothed to another man, so it's not like she could become the queen. I guess at most she could be his royal concubine, but I wouldn't really call that a happy ending? Unless of course hem managed to change the criteria for a royal marriage, but it wasn't mentioned and seemed to be an impossible feat, so.....
I finally finished this drama. I have to say I somewhat lost interest halfway. Not saying the second half was terrible, in some aspects it was better than the beginning. But it started to become repetitive and a lot of illogical nonsense that I couldn't overlook (more to that in a spoiler). What I liked about the drama was two really smart and independent women (for the most part), and the dynamics between the characters. That all the siblings loved and supported each other, instead of plotting against each other (leave that to the adults, urgh.) All in all, romance wasn't really satisfying, I actually wouldn't label it as a romance drama at all. The poster itself is extremely misleading. FL basically never dresses as a woman, and there's literally no skinship or anything of that sort. I do appreciate the deep understanding between the leads, though, you could feel the affection they had for each other. Chemistry wise, not really off the charts. 6.5/10 and won't rewatch.
24 and 38 isn't illegal or abnormal in real world, not ideal for me, but not wrong either
Yes, perhaps it can work if the woman doesn't want children of her own, or later in life, when a huge age difference won't matter as much. I am just speaking of my own experiences in my circle of friends and acquaintances. It's difficult even if the man is the older one in the relationship, it's 10 times harder when it's the woman. Time's ticking for us, I am 34 and I would not want to take a bet on a guy 10 years younger than me, let alone 14. What would he know about what he wants in life? What would he know about building a family at that age? I am also not here to argue. Whoever wants to romanticize noona romances should do so, I like my romance TV series to have a realistic feel to it, so I won't watch. To each their own.
