I am struggling to keep going with this. I'm at episode 7 and had to force myself to make it so far. It's weird, because I like the characters, and I think the premise is good, but there's just no spark here at all. I don't see the romance, the mystery is meh, and while I love Eun Bin's singing voice, I hate that they pre-recorded everything, even the 'live' jam sessions (like, was I supposed to feel anything when she sang around the campfire, because I really didn't...). The first episode was stellar, the shared traumatic past of the leads so emotional and sad, I loved 'fallen' Ran Joo and sassy Woo Hak... So I don't know what happened, but I just cannot get on board with where the show is going. I also have serious SLS, how am I supposed to root for Bo Geol when he's stony-faced and Woo Hak is such a charmer? Think i'm gonna put this on hold and see if I ever feel like continuing...
I thought her shots were digitally remastered and composed.
Well, yes, that's for sure, that's how they overlapped two images and such. But even with digital editing, one can only do so much if it's a shitty and badly exposed photo from a cheap camera. It'd be like trying to turn a pixelated 360p video into 4K lol Simply not possible.
I binged it in one day up to episode 10 and loved it. Episodes 11 and 12 are disappointing. It's turning from romance-revenge-comedy into the worst makjang. Like, how are there STILL more ruthless, despicable trash (human) beings without a conscience introduced every episode? I wish they had scrapped the arc of the ex-fiance b*tch, it's just ridiculous at this point. The show is serious and sad enough without even more of that... Hope the final 4 episodes will make up for it, but I don't have much hope.
The main leads chemistry is awful. Park Min Young, a veteran, is doing all she can, but Na In Woo is awful. I…
Hm, I have to say I disagree. While it's true that he masks his emotions more often than not (especially in the first couple of episodes, but it's his character), you can feel his sincerity in his words and actions and his eyes reveal everything he feels. It's subtle, but his gaze and the way his eyebrows knit when he has to keep himself from doing something he'd regret, are quite telling. I think their chemistry developed over time, and the more he didn't allow himself to give into his desires, the more it hurt. Their first kiss speaks volumes, and I don't see how one could call it emotionless or without chemistry.
I probably watched this more than half a dozen times over the past couple of years. It's just so wholesome. Funny as hell, bromance, sizzling romance, mouth watering food, some revenge, style and good music all rolled into one. It's not perfect, but it's just what I need every now and then to cheer me up. I do have to say, though, Netflix is ruining some of the flavor because it keeps removing 'copyrighted' famous songs and snippets from K-Dramas without replacing it, and you're left with a tasteless scene that just feels 'off'. F.e. in the first episode there's the flashback of the gang getting hit by a truck in the middle of the highway - the original TV scene is awesome, they're listening to 'What a Wonderful World' on the radio when the truck of doom suddenly hits and everything moves in slow motion to Louis Armstrong singing about love and life, and it's just so surreal in the best way possible. Netflix just got rid of the song and cut the scene short, and it's just awkward silence and sound effects - just WHAT? It keeps happening more often when the same song is referenced or when Chil Seong sings along to a song on the radio after meeting Sae Woo for the third time, and they just cut out the entire sequence. I notice the changes right away because I've seen the original so many times, but I reckon for someone watching it for the first time, they'd just be: 'what shitty editing/narrative'. Just keep in mind it's Netflix fault, not the production crew...
😂 😂 😂 Omg, that last sentence is accurately describing why i didn't buy nor could excuse FL being such…
I am like, actually wondering if we watched the same drama here. When exactly did the FL trample on other people's feelings without feeling any kind of remorse? How is she 'only embarrassed' about a past mistake that she's willing to give up a relationship? The entire problem is with her hating the person 'Eun Oh' and that the persona 'Sun Ah' is just someone she invented. Meanwhile Jae Won claims to love her, but she fears the person he loves is Sun Ah, and not her weak self that she hasn't been able to overcome. Yes, she breaks his heart, and yes, it's frustrating to us because we cannot comprehend the hatred and doubt she feels for herself - but it seems like it's the only way for her to find her true self. However she feels terrible about it and is heartbroken, hence why she keeps the ring on her always. I absolutely loved the drama and thought it was extremely well written and real because the characters are so flawed and raw and still immature.
I am a bit torn about how to rate this show. I must say I loved some of it, but some parts were too slow especially in the second half. I also thought some characters were poorly written (one-track minded and then 180 degree turn), and it left me frustrated more often than not. I did love the deep friendship and love between family members, and some parts were really funny. I wanted to see more of dolphin guy and Hae Dal, they were my favorite couple and I am disappointed they didn't get proper closure. Also, from an artist/photographers perspective, some things were very unrealistic, especially how Sam Dal magically got perfect 1-Kill-Shots from a shitty convenience store camera developed into giant formats. I get why they did it, but it's over the top and makes it difficult for me to take it seriously. All in all I wish there had been more focus on her/their work and also better reasoning for why she didn't stand up for herself more even though her career was heartlessly ruined. I love slice-of-life shows, but I don't think it'll become a favorite. Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha and Lovestruck in the city are by far superior to this show I would say. Even so, worth watching for some fuzzy warm feeling. 7.5/10
the fucking ad placement actually makes this series better. it’s so unserious. my personal favorite was the…
I laughed so much in the final episode where they literally squeezed in like 10 different product placements within 15 minutes of the show. The coffee, the water, the perfume, the watch, the almond milk (wtf?), the 'beef premium gift box'... there was more, I just cannot remember right now. Like how am I supposed to take this seriously? LMAO
I was looking for something similar to When the Weather was fine, but I just finished episode 2 and I'm already traumatized. This is so dark. So depressing. I get it's a show about healing but then they do that to the person who obviously needs the most healing right from the start, and I'm like-- ?! I don't know if I want to continue. When the weather was fine was dark too, at times, but it starts out in a rather refreshing manner. It's like being wrapped in a cozy blanket sipping on hot tea or cocoa... While this drama so far has only given me howling winds and storming outside without being able to light a fire lol
Very beautiful drama that actually felt more like a movie the way it was shot and edited. I am a bit torn because I feel like as a multi-episode show it didn't explore the characters and story deeply enough. I would have liked more background and plot in this case, it would have made a beautiful 12 or 16 episode drama. For this format, a movie might have been better actually. In any case, great performance from the actors, very atmospheric and some heartfluttering scenes. Might watch again in the future. 8/10
She never liked him in the first place and he only liked her too late. Nam do san liked her from the letters
I wonder where you got that thought from. Dosan in the letters has literally nothing at all to do with RL Dosan. They only took his name and the fact that he won the mathematics olympiad. Nothing else in the letters had anything to do with him, they didn't even know him after all.
Why does she need character development, she is kind and still wants to maintain good relationship and clear misunderstandings…For…
She needs character development because she's a doormat. If someone treats you badly, you shouldn't just take it. Speak up for yourself, even if you do it in a nice manner.
And yes, exactly, innocent photos like this and people going crazy for them are really something I don't understand. But they blow this out of proportion, there's no way that would happen in real life unless there was some touching involved.
The gardener had already buried her half. It would be much more dangerous to leave her there not knowing if she remembered than to finish what he started. Burying her would have only taken 30 more seconds, maybe a minute, tops. It was obvious nobody would find her this quickly. It's very much a plothole.
Oh well, let's just agree to disagree on those accounts, I just think it's messy writing.
Lets be clear on something: the fact that they got into Sandbox was because they won CODA. So thats their own…
I am not saying the SamSan-Trio isn't talented. They truly are. It's just that none of them have experience and/or interest in brand management, gaining sponsorships/investments, marketing etc.. This is why I don't believe they would have made it into Sandbox without HJP and Dal Mi's help. Had any of the three presented their idea, they would have failed. So HJP pointing out their strengths as weaknesses does count as helping THEM, even if he didn't do it 'for' them specifically, or a 'nice' reason.
Just completed that this week, was hilariousMr. QueenDali and The Cocky Prince Our Beloved Summerare good
Mr. Queen is hands-down one of the funniest, most engaging and best-produced dramas to exist. Easily in my top 10, and I've watched more than 300 shows.
I loved this drama in the beginning but it's starting to get really frustrating. The FL has no sense of self-preservation. Even so far into the drama there's no character development for her, or rather, it seems like it's going backwards. She used to talk back to the ML just fine, but she's way too docile and forgiving to everyone else. Her coworkers (besides the older couple) are badmouthing trash who should be taught a lesson. What 'scandal'? There's literally photos of two people talking to each other out in the street. OMG, how lewd! And then the bad guy who throws her into a pit and leaves her half buried, I mean, why did he suddenly change his mind and go away? Makes literally no sense. How would he know that she doesn't remember being pushed? She could go to the police and file for assault or attempted murder in that case. And the crazy ex-girlfriend who's joined hands with a murderer and knows no remorse. I mean, sure, she doesn't want to lose him (although obviously she's two-timing with a hot and rich guy, so what is she after? We don't really get an answer), but she's going to extremes here that aren't explained, what are her motifs? Unfortunately my ratings are slipping for this, it used to be really fun and new.
Watched it three times already, it's just the right length for a quick comedy-romance-fix. The chemistry between the leads and SLs is top-notch, and it had be giggling throughout the show. I mean, it's definitely comedy on the dark side, there's mentions of her beating up lots of men for revenge reasons and other black humor that shouldn't be taken too seriously. I think people criticizing it for not doing justice to the themes of misogyny should take into account that this is not meant to be a serious drama. It's a romantic comedy, and I think it's great that it touched upon those problems, but in a fun way. It may not get you teary-eyed, but it still gets you thinking. Totally worth watching and (one of) the best romcoms I've seen recently. 9/10
I watched it today in the theatres. I would say the movie feels very 'real'. I don't think it should be labelled as a romance drama, though. It's really more Drama and Slice of Life. It was beautiful but also a bit painful to watch. It reminds us that life is full of choices that will lead us on entirely different paths, and it lies within us to not regret walking one way instead of another. I liked it, but I wouldn't say I really enjoyed it. 8.0/10
Trying watching this for the third time but I drop it again. I just cannot really love this show or the characters the way I should. Except for Han Ji Pyeong and the grandma, they're awesome. I am annoyed at Do San's hostility toward Ji Pyeong, who only ever helped him/them succeed. Sure, he might have been rude on occasion, but they wouldn't even have made it into Sandbox without him. Dropping at ep 6 (first time I watched until ep 9 or so, but sparing myself the pain this time...) Too bad, I really like the idea of startup business and success as underdogs.
