It's very difficult for a viewer to have watched all the dramas of all these actors in 2024. So the votes are…
Freezias, while it’s true that viewers can only vote based on the dramas they’ve seen, this reasoning still doesn’t justify turning the "Best Asian Actor/Actress" poll into a popularity contest. The issue isn’t about whether someone has watched 100+ dramas; it’s about the integrity of the poll itself. If voters only choose based on their limited exposure or personal favorites, the poll title loses its meaning. A "Best" poll should reflect merit, skill, and objective evaluation—not just the popularity of actors based on a handful of dramas voters happened to watch. Your justification doesn’t address this problem but instead normalizes the very bias that undermines the purpose of the poll.
it is undeniable that BWS KDrama is the biggest hit of 2024 along with his costar KHW, so he would definitely…
Meela, the point of my comment was that the "Best Asian Actor/Actress" poll isn’t supposed to be a popularity contest but has been turned into one by the voters. Fans are voting for their favorites rather than assessing talent or performances objectively. That’s why actors like Byeon Woo Seok rank so high, while seasoned talents like Ji Sung dosen't even make the top 30.
Your response justifies this shift by focusing on the popularity of "new-gen" actors, but that completely misses the issue I raised. The problem isn’t who’s currently popular; it’s how the purpose of the poll has been overshadowed by fan bias.
It doesn't matter what the category for voting is, for voters will always vote for their favourites. Every poll is a popularity poll. Byeon Woo Seok at no. 5, Ji Sung is not even in top 30 and Namkoong Min in not even on the list.
I made an observation about the characters Ji Chang Wook played over the years and most of them have a similarity. The characters don't have mothers in their life. Or the mother dies in the story
1. Warrior Baek Dong Soo 2. Empress Ki 3. The K2 4. Fabricated city (dies) 5. Suspicious Partner (has an adoptive mother) 6. If you wish upon me 7. The worst of evil 8. Gangnam B-side 9. Welcome to Samdalri
Another thing I noticed is Ji Chang Wook is acquainted or has worked with most of the leading actors in SQUID GAME.
1. Lee Jung Jae 2. Wi Ha Joon 3. Yoo Sung Joo (no. 111) 4. Kang Ha Neul 5. Im Siwan 6. Won Ji An 7. Park Gyu Young 8. Yang Dong Geun 9. Song Ji Woo (no. 196) 10. Woo Kang Min (no. 296)
There may be others aswell
I don't mean anything by it, this is just an observation I made.
