This one is one of the weirdest rebirth drama. I have never seen people making so many mistakes even after getting a second chance. Infact, they make more mistakes than first chance. Rebirth only helped Qi ZhenZhen and Shangguan Ya I think(infact, they are not even aware that they are getting a second chance but their character got better in second life).

You should not compare Double with this mess at all. Royal princess doesn't even deserve a comparison with Double. Double is all about Jiang Li/Xue Fang Fei. Even Duke Su appeared to be a side role at times. I wanted to watch more of him because Wang Xing Yue's portrayal of Duke Su was another level one of the best greenest flag character in cdramaland History. When he says "not to change not even for him" to Xue Fang Fei, it felt so real. And leads were always true to their goal and they communicated openly about what they want. He never tried to interfere with her revenge and she with his plans. And when his grandpa asked her about their relationship, she told him that Duke Su is her lover and He loves her too. That was such an open declaration.
Anyone has any idea about how Chinese viewers take on this series? Especially special treatment character SRQ is getting? Does he have any special connection to producers and directors of this show? I'm curious because despite being a new actor, he is getting much more screen space than comparatively well established leads ZLH and ZJM?

What was my expectations and what I got to see is totally different. Villian should be someone like Qu Zi Liang in "Stand by me" or Wu Huan from "Ancient love poetry". Those characters has so much depth and sometimes get excited to see their performance onscreen. But here, I fast forward whenever SRQ is on screen.

His way of manipulation is kind of off putting. He can be a decent second lead. A competitor. I hate manipulative character. They can ruin life with just words and carefully crafted misunderstandings. If he was a straight out villian, I would welcome him. But manipulation is a big no no for me.

I also don't hate him but he is getting way too much screen time. Story is more than half way done but he is still interfering in their life. In past, FL was with him. That was her decision. This life she is with PWX. Thats also her decision. And also his way of manipulating others(remember the talk he had with crown prince on the day of leads marriage). He is behaving like he knows everything and he has the right to make decisions for others. And that's what irritates me the most.

True. LR took the reins and empowered herself and empowered all others who were victims of situations in their past life. All three are writing their destiny on their own. My only complaint is SML getting more screen time than he deserves and story is more than half way done but still SML is interfering in their life and FL don't have the guts to chase him out. I wish they chose better actors to portray SML and Crown prince's role. They are fairly new and struggling to match up with other's acting abilities.
Have been waiting to watch Zhang ling He in a romantic role for a long time. In "Fairy and Devil", he was SML(I couldn't bother to watch it since I didn't like FL's acting in it. Too cute is not my kind of line). In "Journey to love", I was more obsessed with second couple so missed there too. And in "Kunning palace" I kind of want FL to end up with Zhang Zhe(Wang Xing Yue's character). Unpopular opinion! I know but ZLH's character was too aggressive/toxic for my liking. Finally got a chance here to watch him being romantic, but here even after 20 episode down, FL is still pinning for SML. A SML who supposedly killed her in past life. Just don't get get how someone can look past that Greenest flag called PWX.

Hope they won't Xianxia ones(since they are also imagination, authorities will find some reason to stop them too). Because I can only watch Xianxia stories in Chinese dramas. And I like them very much. Why they want to kill creativity so much? Why is everything a problem in China(no offence to Chinese people out there. Its one of the great civilization out there at par with Egyptian and Indus Valley civilization. Its just that government intervention is too much at times).

Yes,In scent of time, even though he is the ML, i think FL's bodyguard character got much more screen time and interactions with FL. Both stories were Female oriented. In Scent of time, I wanted the FL to end up with bodyguard guy even though he was a fictional character. And in Kunning palace, I wanted Bailu's character to end up with him. Because I found Zhang Lingje's character to be manipulative and aggressive. He never respected what she wanted and always tried to force up on his thoughts on her. I hate men like him(although its a historical drama, I can't still stand guys like him).
