Is it a good rating? I have no idea about Douban ratings?

Sadly too much of salt contributes a lot to blood pressure. I think this is why drama is rated low in mdl inspite of having famous actors on board. Would love to know how Chinese audience rated the drama.

You don't have to stress up on the fact that its Drama. I know its a drama. What I posted is just my opinion. Its kind of off putting that these kind of characters make a drama pointless to watch. Yang Zi and Xu Kai are both good actors but now am not able to watch their drama because of mom's character. I was sharing my views here. Isn't what this platform is for?

Not exclusively China. Most South Asian and South East Asian countries have these kind of parents. But to be Frank, I watch Chinese, Korean, Thailand, Taiwan and Japanese drama. The most toxic ones are definitely Chinese ones(eg. GO AHEAD Series ML's mom is one of the most toxic mother character). Nothing against Chinese people. Its just what I watched in dramas.

Caring mom? So when he forced her to get engaged infront of a crowd without even telling her daughter, what was that? A mother is someone who should teach her daughter/son to live with self-respect. Here we have a lady who don't even know what self respect is.

I tried watching it. I swear i tried since Yang Zi and Xu kai are one of my favourite actor and actress. But I cant stand FL's mom. She makes me frustrated to the point that I kept thinking if all mother's in China is like her. I have only pity to those who have these kind of mother's. Also FL is over indulging her to point that she kept interfering in their life. This is one kind of drama where wish both parents were seperated and both kids are with their father. Because living with a mom like her is more or less suicidal. I was happy when FL tried to move out and independent but she kept indulging her mother even after that. FL's this kind of personality is Off putting.

Chen Xing Xu , you mean the ML from goodbye princess. I don't know why you said that he always play safe with his roles. Because his role in goodbye my princess will always be one of the best anti hero character in cdrama. He played the role very well despite his young age.
