I was so jealous of most of Yuan Mu Qing's outfits in "Psych-hunter", I loved her style and some costumes would still look good as modern ones

I was too bitter earlier about the dubbing but one day I must watch AGLM too, only this time with sound off. Believe it or not, I cried on every episode for three weeks watching "Psych-hunter".

this is quite strange because knowing how badly Neo wanted to perform a split personality, it's really hard for me to believe that he would agree on
having him dubbed in such a role, when it was his chance.

He had an interactive game for Tencent recorded in 2019, and there was his single-person performance recorded where within 5 minutes he was able to perform a person of the split personality (impersonating a woman, a child, and a psycho) and he received such a huge applause from the whole crew, it was really impressive.

in "Psych-hunter" he has several metamorphoses, including cross-dressing, it would be interesting to see (hear) him perform

I don't know why he was dubbed, and I would like to know the reason myself.

My initial assumption was (but it's only my guess) it could be because of Neo's schedule.

All these Chinese dramas (historical/costume/fiction) even if not dubbed, they have original dubbing recorded by actors who play there, like for "The Lost Tomb 2" where Neo played, he was recording his own dubbing even 4 months after the filming had been finished in July 2018. The dubbing is easily noticeable in TLT2 as there are moments when it's not well synchronized. But it's still the actor's original voice.
In the last episodes of TLT2 for which Neo had additional shooting in the Changbai Mountains from 2018/12/30-2019/01/02, he got dubbed by a voice actor. And this one I would explain with his tight schedule, because in January 2019 Neo had already a variety show to attend to, and started filming "Psych-hunter".
From what the director said, the filming for "Psych-hunter" was very intensive and occupying, with a lot of pressure on the main actor, and it lasted for 4 months until May. After that, Neo without a day of break moved from one drama set to another one to film "A Chinese Ghost Story" for which the shooting was completed at the end of August 2019.

That's why, I thought Neo's schedule might be a reason here.

But on the other hand... this is quite strange because * spoiler*

Also he didn't have any drama scheduled in the second half of 2019, and basically he was idle from Sept until the end of the year, except for short apearances on two TV shows, so why not recording the dubbing for "Psych-hunter" with some delay like he did for TLT2 ?

In the end I cannot say whether it was caused by Neo's schedule or whether it was decided by the director beforehand.

Neo is a type of person that shows traits of perfectionism and narcissism, so with such personality it's difficult to understand that it would be his own choice. After all, he's a great actor.

Certainly, it's not the case here. Zheng Shuang with her social position, public image, family background, and financial status, there were no obstacles for her to adopt children in China. If she had done it, the situation now would be much reversed, and probably the public opinion would be on her side.
There are many abandoned children in China. But instead of adopting, she abandoned two children of her own abroad.

the only reason why she could live her comfortable life, and became a succesful actress, is because China gave her the chance and opportunity to work and pursue her acting career
she had always known the rules, and she made her own choices knowing these rules
she didn't like the rule to blacklist artists for their improper behaviour? she could have emigrated (yes, blacklisting artists in China is a hypocritical rule for many reasons, but that's completely not related to the matter)
but then living outside China and being an emigrant she would never be a famous actress, and she wouldn't have that money to play with human life

But such a disaster, to have the drama blocked or the female lead's face digitally replaced, I'd never expected or wanted it.

what are you talking about? the only gifts between Neo and Chaoyue on the show were:
- a purple basket ball for Neo
- the earthphones for Chaoyue (+the song sung LIVE)
- a cake from Chaoyue for Neo in ep 9 (and water & cakes for the film crew in Tianjin)
- and a water bottle from Neo for Chayoue in ep 10 ("better than nothing")

the rest was arranged and organized by the show (NYE celebration, Sanya and Dream Town in Tianjin)

"she took him to sanya" which Neo said, I only read it in a symbolic way - most probably they were discussing the places (because at the beginnnig of January it wasn't yet decided where they would go) and because Neo wanted so badly to go to Sanya, they agreed on that, maybe she had to give up on another idea or wanted to go to another place and she did it for him, that's how I understand the whole situation, that would explain why Neo thanked Chaoyue so many times for the Sanya trip, and for having a good time at sea together when he was learning surfing and she actively cheered on him

the bracelet Neo gave to Chayoue on Mon 7th Dec, this one was just a prop used 2 days later during the shooting of ep 5, so I guess it was also coming within the show's budget

and where did you take the price of the earthphones from? how do you know it's LV? i couldn't see the brand logo on the earphones
(it might be true though, Neo attends LV events every year, he endorses LV brand and uses their products too)

but anyway expensive or not, it was between the two of them and not shared with others

the stage "award" gifts in the final episode was sth different, I mean, I haven't watched the other couples' parts and I don't know and don't need to know what other gifts they were exchanging between themselves during the whole show

Jian Zi couldn't have died in the accident, because the producers were planning to keep Hou Ming Hao in season 2

and the script for s2 was already in the making at that time, so probably that is why they agreed on ending season 1 with a cliffhanger, if they had predicted back then that after a year Youku would refuse to invest in season 2, most likely they would have chosen to end it differently...

and no, there won't be the second season ever - the producers announced it officially to Neo's fans 3 years ago, see my previous comments below

I know it's difficult to come to terms with it, I was seeking any confirmation of season 2 for many months after I'd watched the drama, and when I finally found the confirmation that they had indeed intended to make s2 and even had promised it (!) to the fans, they made this announcement, it was very painful to me, but it's been already 3 years since that time, we need to learn to move on...
