Before Yan can take action by whatever he has planned, the bandits and Ying might be trying to corner Yan by capturing Duanwu (his only weakness which can make him panic and take action without waiting for a plan).
They can't harm Jingran without alarming the Emperor. So obviously Yan and Duanwu are the main targets. Capturing Yan isn't easy. So capture Duanwu, force Yan to take action (like physical action, not plotting) so they can take out Yan too!

I mean everyone has different choices when watching drama so I agree with your analysis with 3 episodes.

Even some of us here watching had the same opinion on love angle after seeing the start. But I have to tell u, now there is rarely any who finds it unconvincing (among those who have watched further)

But yeah, its a heavy drama in a sense and not all prefer every kind. I have dropped a drama of her earlier too bcoz it wasn't something i like to watch! But if u r dropping for the love angle, u might wish to read episode synopsis or watch clips, u might like them. 😊

She would have been stuck in the mines, unknown to her own family. Bcoz I didn't see no one from Cui looking for her when she went missing after Wu stole that pearl tower, when she was stuck in Wuling or even while returning to Yangzhou. The family was dealing with their own stuffs, not caring where the daughter is!
I mean Wu stole the pearl tower in order to force her to come seek his help, without caring what her next actions could lead to! (I mean she became a slave, was almost raped!) That's why I called him obsessed from his initial behavior.

She was so stuck in her past and pitying herself that she couldn't distinguish right from wrong despite knowing the truth!
She cried foul even for the things she was partly responsible for!
I mean officers are gonna search u if u deal with stolen stuffs. U wanted quick money, affirmation from father, revenge ; so u made wrong moves!
So the difficult times u are facing now are partly bcoz of those moves!

True...for me they are perfect egs of better among the 'worst' lot. That's why I won't feel bad for them.

I don't feel bad for either of them. ZZH did her dirty first to leave no way out for her and CSJ despised him for his origin. He wanted her at all cost.
ZZH probably woke up when Zheng Si was discarded by his father, but still walked the same path. CSJ never actually woke up until they landed in trouble this time. She felt a little for Wu when he was beaten by his father for her! But even then, shw never accepted her own wrongdoings. Neither did ZZH!
It was a game of pretense for her in the beginning, now ZZH does wish to protect her but both of them woke up a little too late.
Moreover even when they realised stuffs, they continued doing shady stuffs bcoz they wanted to steal money before running away!!! I mean run the f**k away if u have realised everything is wrong. Only if u don't run away with Zheng's money, there is a less chance for the family to track u! Why do u have to be part of the plotting until the end!
Probably I would have felt better if the father died first! But nonetheless, this was bound to happen given the path they had chosen despite knowing everything!

Her deal with Mr Zheng, I just watched it twice 🤣🤣
The way she spit out the seed, reminded Wu to not make the tea hot (The one who had scalded her hand with tea earlier), and then again reentering the room when Mr Zheng smashed things and Wu pretending to pick them up! She is sassy! 🤭🤣🤣

And also her convo with YZJ.... He was so impressed with his business oriented wife 🤭

First question: in my personal opinion, yes its worth the watch

2nd - Lalla was a superficial friend (together till all is okay) ... She went to that official in hopes that he would take her out (condition was to convince DW to also get intimate with him) since she came to know that whoever was handed over the freedom document were actually killed and never left the farm, so instead of going with DuanWu she chose that way... .. When he was killed, having that weak personality, she started shouting and ran away. It was just the instinct fear and reaction. Probably she hoped that the farm owners would only harm DuanWu for the murder and not her (bcoz at that time no one knew that pearl farm would be burned down). She thought obviously no one could escape so rather shout and tell others about the murder so that she isn't considered an accomplice in the murder.
Sad that she didn't realize that the farm was merciless and they wouldn't leave her alone too! About her last dialogue while being dragged, u can say that she didn't really know DW and just considered her similar to her own nature.
