I was initially skeptical about this drama—something didn’t quite click at first. It wasn’t until I asked whether it was worth watching and received a strong “yes” that I decided to continue. I’m glad I did.
In many ways, this story explores how political and social changes shape everyday life—especially when people find themselves in the middle of a revolution. No matter which side you lean toward, it is often the people who pay the highest price.
As a Colombian, I found myself relating deeply. While this story takes place in 1970s China, it reminded me of Colombia in the 1990s—a time marked by violence, transformation, and shifting mentalities that ultimately helped shape the nation.
The narrative is simple, yet layered with complexity. It highlights two types of individuals: those who were marginalized or punished because of their beliefs, and those who were overlooked due to a lack of resources and opportunity. At its core, it is a love story—one that captures determination, resilience, and the reality of surviving with very little.
Fei Ni stands out as an idealistic young woman fighting for a simple dream: to attend university. Despite having the qualifications, she is constantly pushed aside, showing how power and connections often determine opportunity.
Fang Mu Yang represents another reality—someone forced to live a life shaped by circumstances beyond his control, banned by association, yet still holding onto hope and optimism.
Then there is Fang Mu Jing, whose only “mistake” was existing in the middle of a political shift—reminding us how innocent lives are often caught in forces much larger than themselves.
One of the aspects I appreciated most about this drama was its historical backdrop. Whether entirely accurate or not, it sparked my curiosity. Every time a concept or event was mentioned, I found myself wanting to research it further. In that sense, the story does something powerful—it encourages viewers to learn, to question, and to understand history beyond what is shown on screen.
It’s a simple story built on everyday experiences, yet it leaves a lasting impact. It makes you pause, reflect, and want to learn more about the world behind it. And at its heart, it reminds me why I’m such a sucker for love—because even now, I still believe in finding something real and genuine.
I want to highlight two things. First, when everyone was waiting by the window for him — even the dog — it was so cute and heartwarming.
Second, the conversations about the younger sister really stood out. She’s a teenager, and that’s exactly how relationships tend to develop at that age. It felt very real and relatable, especially when the grandmother told her boyfriend that when you’re young, you tend to overreact to everything.
1)is there love triangle? if there how much deep it is ?2)when do leads will be together3)is there any breakup?…
1)is there love triangle? if there how much deep it is ? No, just a little guy who has a crush on FL 2)when do leads will be together around episode 18 3)is there any breakup? if there till how many eps? yes, 1 episode nothing big 4)is there happy ending? yes, super happy and beautiful plz spoilers -Amazing show, very touching with an amazing chemistry
The importance of this episode is epic. First of all the guilt of an abused person is part of the process they go through, the lack of validation and accepting that what happened to them has nothing to do with something they did or lack off doing. The next process is believing they are not worth or they don’t deserve anything good happening to them. Finally. She has the courage to open up and she opened her heart when se told him he has always been there for her I mean simple words. And he giving her the space to tell him everything she wants to is just amazing. To top it off he saying not to excuse the people in her life and that she deserves everything made the whole show worth it
One of the simplest details makes this drama relevant is the time lapse design the train moving forward showing the changes and the count in days nice touch
this will probably get lost in the sea of comments but does anyone have any similar cdrama recommendations? i'm…
What genre you like the most For sweet nice development Put you head on my shoulder Le Coup de Foudre Lighter and the Princess Meet yourself (AMAZING) Love is sweet Sweet Tooth Goodbye my princess ( Amazing OST)
The topic is new and it is being portraited like it is. That is a war zone and it is devastated the aftermath to all implied in a conflict, coming form a country where war was the main topic. I think the writers took their time to research and understand how a conflict works. I find it a bit slow and some scenes become dragging. I like how both main leads are doing a good job in a topic that is not easy. I do not feel their chemistry tho.
This drama is the perfect example of how vulnerable humas are !! It does not matter what color of skin or culture you come from, we all experiment a moment in life where feeling defeated is the common denominator. This drama tells the story of a successful professional that learned the hard and sad way how life should work. Simple plot with plenty to learn and grasp.
This is how we humans develop relations that would make us feel alive. Understanding how different cultures help you heal when you need it the most makes this drama a gem. An example, I come from a culture that is known for its vibrant colors, the happy we live, how music plays a role and how exited we are to enjoy every aspect. Latin culture for most is that a set of extravagant people that dance to every opportunity we have. The other side of Latin culture that often people do not see is how important family and values are for us and how we respect and always remember to maintain those values. Understanding how timing works in life and how every new thing we learn in life can make us better is the final message of this drama.
The characters, children, granys, and side characters ,make this drama develop a fond with everyone. A simple drama with a positive message that feels is meant for you in your OWN INDIVIDUAL way.
Goblin has one of the best OST's Hush is such a beautiful song. Another one that has a great OST is Heartless City or Cruel City in the C-Drama version Goodbye My Princess's OST is amazing
I think the ending was fair. In reality love is about timing and some people come into your life at the right moment to serve a purpose and the they leave when they had achieved that purpose. Everyone has a role in life and ML has one on FL live and vice versa. That does not mean we forget them we just remember them for the important part they played in your life.
ML is the reason I am addicted to its episodes. He is very calculative and arrogant and selfish. His obsession…
and OST is amazing too... the visuals, the acting , the chemistry.... ML is amazing the story is indeed tragic, but I love how they stay true to the story
