Their relationship before break up is the main trope of the drama They will go through on and off relationship…
The OST also adds a seductive and mature vibe that perfectly matches the chemistry between the leads and keeps the drama exciting and captivating.

I think this drama will focus more on the second part of their relationship, which is probably why the first part feels a little rushed. We’re so used to dramas spending a long time developing the beginning of the relationship and then giving us a much shorter second half. Maybe this one is doing the opposite and saving most of the relationship development for later.

It also feels like this will be a more mature, adult relationship between two single individuals who have already experienced life and relationships before. They’re not discovering love for the first time; they’re two grown adults choosing to be together and navigating a relationship in a more realistic and mature way. That could explain why the drama doesn’t need to spend so much time on the usual slow-burn stages. Either way, the first part has been amazing so far, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how their relationship develops.

One thing that Youku really has going for it is its visuals. The cinematography and overall aesthetic match the theme and atmosphere of the drama perfectly, which makes even more sense once you understand the story itself. The same thing happened with The First Frost—the visuals weren’t just beautiful; they reflected the mood of the story.

If you read the novel, the author actually gives readers a warning in Chapter 1: and I quote

"This isn't exactly a romance story. It's more about the growth of a few ordinary girls in this massive city. There will be plenty of workplace scenes, so readers looking for light, sweet stories or heavy romance should also tread carefully.”

And I think that note explains a lot about the drama. This isn’t supposed to be a traditional romance where everything revolves around the main couple. It’s really a story about adulthood, relationships, careers, mistakes, and the growth of ordinary women trying to find their place in a huge city. The romance is part of their lives, but it isn’t necessarily the entire story.

The acting wasn't really believable.
I do not want to see the female lead constantly cast in the same type of role—the savior, the rescuer, or the woman who saves the male lead despite everything. They are both talented actors, but not every role is suitable for every actor. Sometimes stepping outside of a familiar character type is necessary to show more range and keep the performances from feeling repetitive.

One thing I'm really enjoying about this show is that it reminds me of the slower, more traditional C-dramas. 😂 I honestly missed this style.

By Episode 4, when she lost the math tournament, I thought the show delivered a really valuable lesson.

First, let's talk about how many gifted people operate. They often process the world differently. Their minds are so focused on logic and problem-solving that interpersonal relationships don't always come naturally. It's not because they don't care—they simply process social situations differently. A good example is Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory. Over time, many gifted people learn to navigate social interactions better, but it can take longer for them to understand how their words or actions affect others, which is why they may unintentionally come across as arrogant or insensitive.

The second lesson is about how others interact with people like this. It isn't always easy to work with someone whose thinking is so different. In this case, she genuinely wanted her team to win. Her intentions were never selfish, but she became so focused on achieving the best outcome that she overlooked one of the most important parts of any competition: teamwork.

To me, that's what made this episode interesting. It wasn't about intelligence versus ability—it was about learning that success isn't only measured by being the smartest person in the room. Sometimes, understanding and supporting the people around you is just as important.

I finished watching this show, and while I didn't think it was bad, I never really felt a connection to it. I kept waiting for that moment where I became emotionally invested, but it never happened. I can't quite put my finger on what was missing—it just didn't fully click for me. Not every drama is meant to resonate with everyone, and that's okay.

On to the next one!

Some people seriously need to stop embarrassing themselves by blaming “haters” and “trolls” every time…
This is so true. The reality is that not even a great actor can save a badly written script. This show feels pointless because the writing is weak, and the overall format doesn't help either. The character development is practically nonexistent, and after a while the story starts to lose coherence. It's disappointing because without a strong script, even talented actors have very little to work with.

I really tried to like this drama, but unfortunately, the story just doesn't deliver. It's far too melodramatic, which is disappointing because the plot had so much potential. The biggest issue is that the story lacks coherence, and the characters don't receive the development they deserve.

Another thing that doesn't help many C-dramas is the long delay between filming and airing due to the approval process. By the time the drama is finally released, you can clearly see the actors at a different stage in their careers and personal growth, which can make the production feel dated.

Overall, this drama had an interesting premise, but the execution simply didn't live up to its potential.

I think this is a great example of how actors can show that portraying a truly memorable character requires more than just strong acting skills. With time and experience, actors learn which roles to choose—roles that not only challenge them but also align with their strengths. Sometimes, the right role is just as important as the performance itself. It's really a team effort between the actors, director, screenwriter, and editors. That said, I think this drama has a strong story and a lot of potential. The storytelling is engaging, but the execution still misses a few key points. In my opinion, it's starting to feel more like a telenovela than the type of C-drama it set out to be. The story is there—the delivery just isn't as strong as it could be.

I was jut thinking the same!!! and it is not a bad drama I have a theory of why but I am terrified of saying it…
This is supposed to be entertainment, a place where we come to disconnect from the craziness of the world. Instead, it feels like a war zone. You can't share a different opinion without someone taking it personally. Whatever happened to simply enjoying a show and respecting that not everyone will see things the same way? and over a fictional character

And that is why it works for this drama because he is different... what I don't like is the attack and how people come at you!! that is not right.. There are ways to say things.
