At least YCX shows his true colors from the get-go. He doesn’t pretend to be someone he’s not, so you know what to expect—and I think that’s exactly what makes people uncomfortable. Sometimes we’re more willing to accept someone who tells us what we want to hear, even when that image is just an act to get what they want. Does knowing YCX’s true colors excuse everything he does? No. But JXT’s intentions worry me much more! 👀

I think we tend to forget how human dynamics actually work. In paper standard behavior looks like that, and we do not accept the fact that we are made of those types of obsessions. weird right !!!
The obsession and jealousy era has arrived! 😂 Why are these dynamics so compelling to watch when we know they’re so wrong? I’m really enjoying the tension, especially when you consider the Republican-era setting in China—a time when traditional expectations collided with changing ideas about women’s independence, marriage, and love. That makes the struggle between desire, duty, family reputation, and control even more interesting. The possessiveness doesn’t make it right, but the historical context helps explain the characters’ behavior and the pressures surrounding their relationships. And the visuals and wardrobe are on point! They really bring the atmosphere of the era to life. But there’s something fishy about the fiancé… I’m starting to suspect he’s a Japanese spy, or at least hiding something big!
My personal opinion about this drama is that we sometimes forget to consider the social norms of the era in which a story takes place. This drama is set in the Republican era of the 1930s, nearly 100 years ago—a time of major revolutionary changes, when men’s authority often overshadowed women’s voices and choices, and the thirst for power could lead to abuse. Does that make those behaviors right by our standards in 2026? No. But understanding the historical context helps us make sense of the characters and their actions. We can recognize that certain behaviors were wrong while still acknowledging how the society around them shaped their lives. So far, I do like this drama. It feels a bit like The Hunger Games, with everyone trying to survive, protect themselves, and navigate a world where power can determine their fate. Still early to determine where this will go, but a good start
I have a question for fellow C-drama fans: How can we tell which streaming platform—iQIYI, Tencent, YOUKU, or Mango—is actually involved in producing a drama when the same show is available on multiple platforms? I’m curious because I’ve noticed that dramas backed by YOUKU tend to have better set design and visuals, at least in my opinion. Is there a way to distinguish the platform behind the production from those that simply have the streaming rights?

I think what you’re trying to say is that some actors fit certain roles, while others don’t quite capture the character’s personality—and that’s a valid opinion. Let’s stop creating controversy over every difference of opinion. This feels like The Hunger Games sometimes! 😂
It’s an interesting plot. The corporate world can be ruthless, no matter where you are, especially if you’re a woman. It’s sad to see that sometimes your biggest enemy is another woman. The only part I’m not quite buying is how the FL and ML keep running into each other by coincidence. Those encounters feel a little too convenient and don’t do justice to the slow-burn romance they’re trying to build.
It’s neither bad nor good—it’s somewhere in between. The plot is actually interesting, but something about the delivery felt a little weird, and it’s hard to explain exactly what was missing.
Even the intimate scenes felt a bit robotic to me. I know those scenes can be difficult to portray naturally, but instead of feeling like there was genuine chemistry and intimacy between the characters, they felt a little too rehearsed and mechanical. Overall, there was potential; I just don’t think the execution fully delivered it.
